After school, as promised, the three of them heads to M's, which happens to be Ayumi's house and a cafe owned by her mother.
"It's gonna be so hot soon..." Itsuki said.
"Summer is just a couple of months away, but I get you..." Ayumi said.
"..." Keita is thinking.
"You're quiet for a while already, is there anything on your mind?" Itsuki asked.
"The student council looked for me. They asked me to join them." Keita said.
"Huh?! How did you get their attention though?" Itsuki asked.
"If anything suspicious enough, it should be the guy who looked for us that day. I remember saying your name back then." Keita deduced.
"So you just gave away my information..." Itsuki laments.
"I'm sorry." Keita apologizes.
"Well, think of the bright side, what would you do if you're a part of the student council?" Itsuki asked.
"I have no idea. It's not like I actually participated anything back then." Keita said.
"Ah, the Mr. Stay-away-from anything has spoken huh?" Itsuki teased.
"Yeah, now you reminded me how much I hate you." Keita said.
"Come on, you're doing your job pretty well, there's no way I'll make a wrong decision about choosing you to become our class rep." Itsuki said.
"And that reminds me, Ayumi-chan actually volunteered to become the class rep assistant too. May I know why?" Itsuki added.
"H-huh?! Can't I just walk quietly?" Ayumi being super nervous knowing what Itsuki will do later.
"Come on, just say something to each other, it's not like something is between the two of you, right?" Itsuki winked.
"Yeah... There's nothing between us." Keita said.
"Uh... Don't you have your art club with Yukishiro-senpai?" Ayumi asked.
"She told me she's a bit busy with her arrangements with her teacher. So the club activities are suspended for a while." Keita said.
"A temporary go-home club member huh?" Itsuki said.
"Yeah. I'm glad." Keita said.
"Glad being able to spend time with your friends such as us?" Itsuki teased.
"You're over-imagining it. I just want to go home." Keita said.
"Ouch, that hurts." Itsuki said. As they walked to the station, Itsuki's phone rung.
"Huh... I'm sorry, I need to answer this call. I'll be back in a moment." Itsuki runs off.
"Hey! Wait!" Ayumi called.
"The two of you are in a middle of something?" Keita asked.
"Huh? How did you jump to that conclusion?" Ayumi asked furiously.
"Well... I can kind of tell if you went out this lunch break time to meet up with him. Guess that wasn't the case." Keita said.
"Eh? Was it that obvious?" Ayumi's face flushed bright red.
"So you admitted that you met Itsuki." Keita said.
"Sigh... Yeah... But! I'm there just to talk about something serious!" Ayumi said.
"Something serious that doesn't include me?" Keita asked.
"Ah... I can't tell you right now, but someday, I'll tell you..." Ayumi said.
"I see..." Keita blushed.
"Huh? What was that face?" Ayumi teases.
"That guy does take his time..." Keita tries to change the topic.
"Sorry guys! I have some urgent business to take care of, I need to go now." Itsuki said as he runs back to Keita and Ayumi.
"I see, good luck on that." Keita said.
"Yeah, I'll need a lot of that." Itsuki's expressions became stern.
"Something serious?" Ayumi who thought this was a part of the plan quickly noticed that it wasn't.
"Someone my dad indebted to has an arrangement for me. I must go now." Itsuki said.
"I see... It must be very annoying." Keita said.
"Well, I'll have to deal with it. It's my family's problem after all." Itsuki said.
"Well, you guys should go now. See you tomorrow!" Itsuki said his goodbyes before leaving them.
"Let's go then." Keita said.
"Yes!" Ayumi said excitedly.
"Why are you so excited?" Keita asked.
"N-nothing?" Ayumi stuttered.
"Pfft." Keita laughed.
"Why are you only laughing at times like this?!" Ayumi scowled.
"I see, you're just not far from school at times like this. Unlike you a few years ago, so eager to butt into the investigators' business claiming that you can crack a case or two." A man in black said.
"Shut up and just do your work." Itsuki said and entered the car behind the man. The man enters the car and drives away.
"Our president would like to have a word with you, do you know what it will be?" The man asked.
"I told you to shut up don't you understand?" Itsuki said again.
"Sigh... I'm just following orders, there is no need to be so antagonistic with me. I'm just a plain old man you know?" The man said.
"... I know. It's about Himeko is it?" Itsuki replied.
"Well... Our president wants to have a good partner in marriage for her daughter so that the future of our company would be assured. You should learn to appreciate offers from others you know?" The man said.
"Adults... There is only profits left for them to see huh?" Itsuki muttered. Despite being a few minutes drive, it lasted like an eternity for Itsuki having to listen to what the man said for the whole time.
"Thank you Yamamoto-san. I'll take care of things here." A lady said.
"We should have a drink next time, you know?" Yamamoto said.
"You should learn how to act like a professional, Yamamoto-san." The lady said as she leads Itsuki into a hotel building.
"Our president is waiting for you, Itsuki-sama." The lady bowed and opens the door.
"My, my... Since when I've last met you... You've grown!" The president said.
"Spare me the words, Yamaguchi-san. Tell me what you want from me now." Itsuki said.
"I see, I'll do that then." Yamaguchi said. He signalled to all of the guards to leave the room, leaving both of them in the now quiet office room.
"As you expect, your father is very indebted to our company. So as you've became such a worthy man with great minds, I would be glad to take you as my son-in-law to succeed in my place as the company's president." Yamaguchi said.
"So it's about that huh..." Itsuki muttered.
"Come in, Himeko." Yamaguchi called, and the door opens, a girl walked into the room. The girl looks elegant, with an air of dignity filling the air surrounding herself.
"Father, I have been telling you plenty of times, I'm not interested in marrying anyone else other than Haru-kun!" Himeko said.
"Haru? Who was that? Which family is he from? That brat dared to take my Himeko's heart and now she's now listening to me anymore, this makes me as a father very sad." Yamaguchi said.
"You are the one who is not listening!" Himeko yelled.
"This is going to be so long..." Itsuki muttered.
"I wonder how are they doing right now..." Itsuki thinks to himself as he loooked outside of the window. He saw two birds flying together very closely.
"It seems like there's nothing to worry about the two of them." Itsuki smiled.
