Chapter 43 - Twilight

Natsumi took a look at the sketches done by the other members, Keita is an amateur, but his sketches are fine for a beginner. Mio's is just like what she said, she overdid it, she was sketching even things behind the desk. That includes both Keita and Takahashi-sensei in it.

"Woah... Shiroyuki-senpai is so good in this..." Natsumi praised.

"It's nothing, I have still much more to learn." Mio replied.

"Alright, it's time to go home. See you again, Keita-san." Natsumi said.

"See you tomorrow." Keita replied.

"Let's go home, Mio-senpai." Keita asked.

"Alright... Let's go." Mio said as she packs up her stuff.

The two of them leaves the art room and locked it up. On the way to the entrance of the school, Kanade showed up.

"Kei-kun, Mio-chan! Let's go home!" She said. The three of them nodded, and makes their way to the entrance.

"Mio-chan, come over sometimes, we should hang out sometimes." Kanade invited.

"Uh... Sure... How about this Saturday?" Mio asked.

"Oh, sure! Can't wait to see you later!" Kanade said as she walks.

"I'll go this way, see you tomorrow." Mio said as she walks towards the other direction. Her father works in the hospital in the central city, which means living in the central city Akari makes sense.

"Let's get going already." Keita said. Kanade follows as well.

"Kei-kun, do you know my mother likes the twilight?" Kanade suddenly asked.

"She just likes them, can't fathom what she is thinking sometimes." Keita replied.

"It's the twilight that brought mom and dad together." Kanade said.

"That's good, I guess." Keita don't know how to respond to her.

"It's fate." Kanade said.

"Eww, saying weird things again, Kana-nee." Keita reacted.

"I wonder if I could find my fated person. My fated person... Perhaps I've already found it~" Kanade looked at Keita.

"W-Why are you looking at me?" Keita said nervously.

"Nothing~ Let's go home!" Kanade said mischievously and began running.

"Teasing me again... Your fated one huh..." Keita thought as he continues to walk. As the sun sets, Keita noticed the sky, it's the twilight.

"So this is what aunt Yuuki likes a lot." Keita said, he admires the twilight on his way home, thinking of what Kanade said a while ago.

In the next day, Keita got out of his house early.

"Kei-kun? You're so early today." Kanade said as she's locking her house gate.

"Ah, just got up a bit early, I have class duty today." Keita said.

"Alright, let's walk together then" Kanade said. They began walking towards the station, the station is usually not crowded for Keita since he usually go to school later than the current time.

"It's really jam packed today..." Keita said. They made their way to the train and travelled to the next station.

"Well, that was... Fragrant..." Keita said.

"Eh?! You sniffed on me?" Kanade became flustered.

"It's so crowded in the train... I still need to breathe you know?" Keita said.

"Hmmph... I'll be going now." Kanade said as she walks towards the school gate.

"Ah, alright. Not supposed to walk alongside her in school..." Keita remembered. Walking with her will cause a misunderstanding, if not there will still be rumours start spreading around. In fact, there is already a few revolving his actions to threaten some of Kanade's followers.

"Fate... You're making me self conscious now..." Keita said. As he was about to cross the road to the school, a middle aged man approached. His appearance does not resemble a businessman, but rather in a peculiar fashion.

"Young man, you don't seem as grim as you did years ago. Perhaps you've already on your way to find yourself?" The old man said.

"What in earth is this old man talking about?" Keita thought.

"It's natural that you can't understand what this old man says. The misfortune that befell on you were not just an accident. It was intentional." The old man said.

"What do you even mean?" Keita asked.

"The rain goddess, Ame is testing you, or rather... All of you." The old man said as he walked away.

"We shall meet again, young man. Tell me the stories of your exploits when we meet again." The old man added again.

"Guess I'm lucky that he don't ask me for donations or something. But he knew I was in an accident years ago... The rain goddess testing people around sounds legit as well... Guess I'll ask him more if I see him again. Hopefully he won't con me for cash or something." Keita thought.

"Oh crap! I'm late for class duty!" Keita thought as he noticed the time. Keita slid open the door of his own classroom. There is already people in it.

"Oh, good morning Keita!" Hikaru said.

"Good morning, Hiyama-san." Keita said. He glanced over the classroom, Ayumi is in the classroom as well.

"Good morning, Mikoto-san." Keita said.

"Good morning." Ayumi responded.

"You were avoiding me for quite some time. I haven't told anyone about that so you should ease up." Keita said.

"Shhh! Don't say it out loud!" Ayumi covers Keita's mouth.

"Ummmph!!" Keita struggled.

"Wow, what's happening over there? A lover's quarrel?" Hikaru said.

"No! Nothing like that ever happened!" Ayumi shouted.

"You two were so close since the beginning, are the two of you somehow related?" Hikaru asked. Ayumi is hesitant to say anything.

"Nope, I don't know her at all." Keita pushed off Ayumi's hands and said blatantly.

"You..." Ayumi looked in disbelief.

"Me, what?" Keita asked.

"Hmmph, nothing!" Ayumi stomps off and resumed cleaning.

"Wow, she looked so upset." Hikaru said.

"I don't know, maybe I'll apologize later." Keita said.

"Keita... You dummy..." Ayumi murmured.

"Achoo!" Keita sneezed. Hikaru and Ayumi looked at Keita and laughed.

"Keita, you need to clean your pants!" Hikaru said, the chalk dust from the duster got scattered on Keita's pants, the front part of his black pants became white.

"Pfft... You dummy." Ayumi thought to herself while laughing.

Keita laments on the little misfortunes that befell him, while pondering the fated person Kanade mentioned.
