Chapter 47 - Kaoru's Worries

Kaoru returns to the shop, preparing to pick up more orders. The head chef, Kotarou, also acting as the co-owner of the business walked out.

"Go home, kid. Someone will handle the rest." Kotarou said.

"No way, I'll take these." Kaoru grabbed the newly packed meals that are waiting for delivery.

"I said stop." Kotarou warned.

"Kotarou's right. You've been delivering four times already. You must be so tired. Please go home and rest." A worker said.

"I'm fine." Kaoru said.

"Head out only after you ate something. You haven't ate anything. At least rest up a bit before moving on." Kotarou said.

"If I stay and eat now, the people who are waiting for the meals have to wait. I'll eat after I delivered these." Kaoru said.

"Idiot! Are you seriously trying to get yourself killed?!" Kotarou yelled.

"What if I am?!" Kaoru talked back.

"You idiot!" Kotarou stood up and preparing to hit Kaoru. The other workers saw what's going to happen, they all came out trying to prevent them from fighting.

"Your father asked me to take care of you, and you're not eating properly. How am I supposed to hand over his business to someone who don't take good care of himself?" Kotarou said.

"I-I see... I'm sorry. I caused you some problems. I'll eat a little before moving on." Kaoru said. He headed to the kitchen and scooped a bowl of rice and then wolfed it down.

"That won't do. I'll make a few side dishes. Everyone, keep moving, we still have a bunch of orders waiting." Kotarou said.

"I'm done eating, gonna deliver the ones we've got now." Kaoru said as he dashed out.

"Sigh... This kid is always like this... I wondered what you would tell him at times like this, Takeshi..." Kotarou thought to himself.

Kaoru delivered some of the meals, as well as observing the customers when they received their deliveries. Some were content and some were rude. At the last delivery, he did not expect the one who came out of the house being Kanade herself.

"Oh, you're here!" Kanade exclaimed.

"O-oh... Here's your meal. Enjoy your meal." Kaoru said.

"Wait, Kawasaki-san!" Kanade shouted.

"What is it?" Kaoru turned around, he felt awkward, remembering the words he said to her this afternoon.

"I want to know something. What do you mean by my presence being a blessing?" Kanade asked.

"You know? The most popular girl in school and me, a nobody in school? I'm already lucky enough to stay alive after being with you for a while." Kaoru said.

"What you said back then... It's not true!" Kanade said.

"Huh?" Kaoru reacted.

"I'm a normal person too! You can't just treat me like that! After... After you showed me your food!" Kanade said.

"Ah... Ahaha... Hahaha..." Kaoru chuckled.

"I never thought you're a glutton... This side of Kujou-san is... C-cute..." Kaoru said blushingly.

"Please keep it as a secret!" Kanade said.

"Thank you, Kujou-san... I'm glad that I approached you that day... Well, guess I have to go back now, goodbye." Kaoru said before cycling off the distance.

"This feeling... Is it true though? He's my fated..." Kanade thought to herself.

"Who the heck is that guy?" Keita shouted. It seems like Kaoru is implying Keita's menace if he chose to get close to Kanade.

"Oh, Kei-kun. Could you come out? I have something to ask you." Kanade said.

"Oh, alright." Keita responded. After a while, Keita walked out of his house.

"You idiot! No wonder I got treated like that!" Kanade slapped the back of Keita's head.

"Ouch! That hurts!" Keita reacted.

"Don't ever do that again, you'll scare my friends away!" Kanade said.

"That guy is your friend...?" Keita asked.

"Yes! He's my friend. You got a problem with that?!" Kanade said.

"Your acting skills are a bit lacking, Kana-nee." Keita said.

"A-anyways! He's really a friend of mine!" Kanade said.

"Kana-nee, there is something I'm curious about." Keita asked.

"Huh? What is it?" Kanade responded.

"The fated person you said before... I'm concerned." Keita said.

"O-oh... That... Please forget it for now..." Kanade said. It seemed like she's avoiding the topic.

"Alright, see you tomorrow." Keita said before heading back.

"Hey... Kei-kun..." Kanade called.

"Yes?" Keita responded.

"What if one day... You found your fated person, and someone else appeared that you have an unknown feeling about, who'll you choose?" Kanade asked.

"Huh? Is this some psychological tests? I don't know. If the unknown feeling is stronger than the one with the fated person, I think I'd go with that." Keita said.

"Dummy." Kanade murmured.

"Alright, I'm gonna head back. See you tomorrow." Keita said before heading back.

"Kanade! What is taking you so long outside?" A voice from Kanade's house said.

"Ah, here it is the dinner we ordered! Here you go, papa." Kanade said to her father, Ryujii.

"Though we do order from them time to time, why are we eating this today?" Ryujii asked.

"Kanade said a friend of hers is the son of one of the owners of the shop. The one who passed away. So she decided to order something so she could talk to him." Yuuki explained.

"So it's about some boy stuff? Kanade, you're so bold." Ryujii said.

"Argh! It's not like that papa!" Kanade said.

"Ahaha... I know, it's about him quitting school is it?" Ryujii said.

"Eh? Did mom tell you this?" Kanade asked. Ryujii nodded.

"Your mom told me everything. I was just teasing you." Ryujii said.

"Papa!" Kanade shouted.

"Kids shouldn't really give up on school. I believe you are doing what you believe is right is it?" Ryujii asked.

"Of course, papa!" Kanade said. The family enjoyed their dinner together, while on the road, Kaoru is cycling back to the shop. The cool breeze of the night, along with some flowery scent from the cherry blossoms nearby, Kaoru identified the unknown feeling that he had been wondering since the day he first met Kanade.

"Ah, so this is the feeling I've been feeling since then... But I have to keep working. I just have to." Kaoru stopped and thought. After a short rest, he continued cycling.
