Chapter 1 - The Beginnings of a Legend

The night is quiet and almost nothing moves. Almost everyone is asleep. Everyone except for four humans, one woman, two men, and a child. The woman screams as loud as her throat will allow as she struggles to bring new life into the world. The child is forced to look away from his screaming mother. Tears stream down the boy's cheeks. Even though he is young, he knows he cannot help his mother in any way. The boy's father is gripping Silvia's hand as she squeezes the hand tightly. The pain is so severe that she is at risk of passing out. The doctor looks at the head of the young baby entering the world while keeping the mother from fainting and dooming the child to die.

"GET THIS THING OUT OF ME!" the woman screams, this may have been her third child, but this one was excruciatingly painful. The doctor was experienced and tried to give her words of encouragement...they didn't work. The woman screams as the doctor says, "Push Silvia, give it everything you've got. You are almost there!". With one more painful push, you can hear the crying of an infant. Relief settles onto the mother's face as the pain finally recedes.

Her crotch is sore and her eyes are red from crying, she is given her child to hold and embraces him softly. "So, what is his name? For him to be recognized as a citizen, he must have a name-" He is cut short in his sentence by the father saying that they know and that this isn't their first child. "So what is his name then? " Silvia raises her head slightly and gives the name that would be etched into the very fabric of history. Hikari Delta Sakuzyo. The doctor looks at the woman, bewildered at such a peculiar name as he writes it down on the sheet of paper. After cleaning his hands, the doctor looks at the new older brother of Hikari and smiles. "Little one, rejoice! You now are an older brother. I wish I had a little brother but all I got was five younger sisters. God must've been on my side for me to have survived that house." The young boy smiles a little as he wipes away a tear from his cheek. He runs to the side of his mother and looks at his brother. "Momma, he's just like me. He has white hair too." the boy says gleefully. "Yes, he does, y'all get it from your father. If I can say anything it's that that man has got some good hair," she says. "Now run along to bed, I've got to rest." She looks to her husband and says "Baby, please see that he gets to bed. I need him to have the energy to get up tomorrow for his first day of school tomorrow morning." Silvia looks at Alduin with her puppy eyes that would make even the toughest man break down and give a loud aww. Alduin gave a smile back that comforted her. "Of course dear. What type of father and husband would I be if I didn't do that? Plus it looks like you won't walk stably for at least a week." Alduin got up and took the boy with him while the doctor rose to his full height of six foot three, walked over to Silvia, and knelt next to her and her sleeping child. His face was no longer happy and his eyes were cold. " I know what you have to do so do it already. I don't have all night." Silvia says in a sour voice. The doctor looks away and if anyone were to have looked him in the eye, they would've seen the deep look of sadness and regret in his eyes. He muttered a long spell and his hand began to glow with every visible color of the rainbow. He pulls out a clear crystal and places the spell onto it. With a heavy sigh, he taps the crystal onto the young Hikari's forehead. After taking it off his forehead he looks into it and says a simple Veritas, and as the shell commands, the truth of his potential is revealed. The crystal becomes blue, yellow, red, and lastly white. Both the mother and doctor are silent as they slowly turn their heads toward the sleeping Hikari. "What in the godforsaken wastelands of hell was that? Everything that the crystal just did had never been heard of by normal people. Only nobles, elves, and higher demi-humans have ever had records of this happening. Hell, he might even be stronger than most other people with this kind of reaction." The doctor then looks at the twenty-four-year-old young woman in front of him and he realizes the horror of the situation. Hikari was born too strong, he would be taken by the hierarchy and trained until there wasn't a shred of humanity left inside of him, only a husk of a man to be used for war. With a sigh, the doctor says "I understand Silvia, even though I know that it would be illegal to do this. I leave him with you and I will edit the crystals data." he says. A faint sigh flies out of her sweat-covered face and she holds Hikari a little tighter. The doctor gets up to leave but stops at the door to address Silvia. " I know you hate me. You think I'm a monster for doing this and giving the kingdom the power of taking people's children away. That isn't true at all. I hate that because of my job, I can have any child taken from their family. So please forgive me, my beloved sister." He waits for a moment hoping to hear the forgiveness he desperately needs. His sister looks at him with a smile before she sleeps and says to her brother "I never hated you Damyn. I was only disappointed in your actions, but what you did is more than enough to earn my forgiveness." With those last words, she places Hikari beside her in his crib and falls asleep. Damyn walks out of the house sighing in relief. He pulls the crystal out of his pocket and uses a minor teleportation spell to go to the capital. As promised, Damyn enters the crystal's edited data into the citizen system. He leaves his job and goes home to his wife and family feeling drained. The recoil from using the potential spell so many times was kicking in, leaving him barely conscious. As he fell asleep next to his wife he knew he had done the right thing today. That night after he slept, a meteor shower streaked across the sky. A sign that someone special was brought into the world.
