Splash!
A wave of water suddenly splashed all over her face and she was temporarily blinded and missed the stunning view of the man flying out of the water, gracefully spinning around a few times in the air and then landing on the ground fully dressed in a light-blue sect robe.
She dried her stinging red eyes and was about to fire off a series of admonishing words when something big, white, and fluffy landed on her face. She pulled it off her face and discovered it was a large, white outer robe lined with white rabbit fur. The outer robe looked luxurious, though it was obviously a man's robe and much too large for her.
"So beautiful," she thought and pulled it up to her face and began rubbing her face against the rabbit fur, "and so fluffy!"
"Get dressed and then we will speak!" The man said and turned around.
The girl looked up from behind the fluffy rabbit fur. "Don't you dare to peek!" Then she quickly climbed out of the pool while keeping a watchful eye on the man and then once she was out she put on the robe.
Now wearing the obviously too large robe she looked like a small child wearing an adult's clothes.
The man turned to face her and a bemused look flashed by on his face as he watched her flapping the too long and too loose sleeves of the robe.
"Demon, what is your name and where are you from?" The man spoke, his face turning serious.
Demon? She threw an angry look at the man and stamped her feet. "Who's a demon? You're the demon!" What's wrong with this guy, calling a sweet, innocent little girl a demon?
The man looked unimpressed by her little outburst of anger. Then he said, "If you're not a demon then how do you explain your earlier appearance?"
Earlier appearance? The girl was suddenly stunned and at a loss of words. That does make sense, she thought. She no longer was a normal human, but a fruit that could take on the appearance of a human.
Seeing her stunned expression, the man sighed and decided to take a more gentle approach. "What's your name?"
"I'm Ming Yue. Who are you? And what was that bright light before?" She asked.
"My name is Jun Xi and I'm the First Senior Brother of the Righteous Sword Sect. As for that bright light, wasn't that caused by you? It was you forming a life and death contract with me."
"Life and death contract?" She scratched the top of her head and looked completely clueless.
"You really don't know?" Jun Xi was stunned. "It means that from now on both of our lives are one. If one dies, the other one will die as well." Jun Xi calmly stated.
"Eh!?" Her big, bright eyes turned into two full moons. Life and death contract, something as magical and horrible like that actually exists? But then, she was a fruit just a few moments ago. But maybe, he's lying? She cast him a skeptical side-glance.
"You don't believe me? Either way, from now on you will not leave my side until I figure out a way to break the contract." He looked up and down the young girl as if measuring the size of her future coffin, before saying, "Can you turn back into a fruit? It would be safer and more manageable that way. Then once I've broken the contract, I will set you free."
Turn back into a fruit? Is he crazy? She had finally regained her human form after so much trouble. No way she would take her chances turning back into a fruit again. What if she couldn't turn back into human form again? And how long would it take for him to find a way to break the contract? A week? A year? Several years? She shuddered at the thought.
Noticing her disagreeable disposition, he shook his head. "Then, from now on you'll be my disciple and follow my every step so that I can protect you."
Disciple? Suddenly images of the two of them traveling the world, flying over roof tops, rescuing damsels, clearing up crimes, and fighting against the world's injustice began flashing by inside her head. Wait, did he say he'd protect me? Her face flushed with warmth and an adorable blush appeared on her youthful face.
Meanwhile, Jun Xi shook his head while waiting for her to finish her train of thought. Luckily he was a patient man, which was something that was required if you wanted to succeed in the world of cultivation.
"I'll go with you!" She suddenly blurted out as she awoke from her reverie.
"Good! Let's go." Jun Xi reached out and offered his hand. Her big eyes blinked and she looked at him confused. Shaking his head, he moved over to her and reached around her thin waist with one arm and with the other he produced a flying sword, seemingly out of nowhere, which he then jumped on, bringing her along with him.
As the flying sword carried them higher and higher, she clung to him like a terrified kitten.
"I-is this safe?" She asked nervously as her face was paling and she clunged her body closer to him.
The wind was breezing by loudly as they flew across the lands at an incredible speed. So he lowered his head to her ear and said, "With me around, you'll be safe anywhere."
Feeling the contrast between the cool wind that continuously caressed her face and his steaming hot breath against her ear, her already rapidly beating heart jolted in her chest and seemed to push a surge of blood up to her face which immediately flushed it a bright red.
She swallowed nervously then asked, "Where are we going?"
"We're going to the Sky Piercing Mountain where the Righteous Sword Sect is located. We'll be there soon."
The two of them zoomed off into the distance and disappeared in the horizon.
