3RD PERSON POV
Carla brought her face down and rested it on Carter's chest, seemingly feeling for a heartbeat. Silent tears ran down her face, further soaking his shirt. Liam and Madelyn were crying as well and it wasnt long before Kathy walked in on the gruesome scene before her.
Carla's mind had fell silent, her eyes clouded, and her face was a blank expression; she was impossible to read at this point.
Liam leaned Madelyn up against the wall and came over to Carter's side. He looked down at his best friend in disbelief, he didn't bother trying to hold back tears. Kathy had sat herself on the other side of Carter. Her right hand was on his calf but she was violently shaking from crying. Her whole body was moving back and forth. Madelyn pulled herself next to Liam and leaned against him for stability. All four teenagers were violently crying at this point. Carla however, was the only one who was silently crying.
Madelyn sniffled and looked over at Carla, she gently moved Carla's hair out of the way to look at her face which was still buried in Carter's chest.
"Carla?" She said in a raspy voice.
Carla didn't react to her voice.
Kathy raised her head in confusion and looked at Carla. Carla's lack of reaction had confused the other three teenagers.
"Carla?" Kathy said with a confused voice that matched her expression.
Carla still didn't respond.
"Carla?" Liam asked in a more intense voice, "You have to let go of him so we can move him to the cabin."
Carla again, did not react to their voices. Carla couldn't even hear them.
"Kathy," Liam said as he turned his attention to her instead, "Take Madelyn to the cabin, and tell Ryder to come down here, we might need Axel too."
Kathy nodded, picked up the injured Madelyn bridal style, and walked out of the house.
Liam nervously looked at Carla, he had never seen her like this. He had never seen her this heartbroken, and it terrified him. Carla had four main emotions: happy, sad, quiet, and dangerous.
The last two were the scariest, and it absolutely scared the living everything out of Liam that she was quiet and unresponsive. He gently outreached an arm to Carla and comfortingly set it on her shoulder. A low growl erupted from the back of her throat and Liam instantly removed his hand. The first thing that popped into Liam's head was that it was going to be like walking through hell trying to get her away from him. He knew she could easily overpower anyone with how she can remove powers and kill people just by touching them. What he didnt know was what Ryder saw the day Carla wiped out twenty or so gang soldiers: Carla couldn't just take powers, she could copy them.
It didnt take long for Axel and Ryder to get the memo and come to the house. At this point Liam was by the door and led the boys out of the house, closing the door behind him.
"Carla is-"
"Dangerous," Ryder said, completing Liam's sentence.
Liam nodded.
"What do we do?" Axel asked.
Just then, the door swung open and Carla walked out of the house. She pushed past the boys and walked in the direction of one of the houses, even though she wasn't in her mind she still knew exactly where she wanted to go.
"We're about to have to improvise," Ryder commented as he nervously looked at the other two boys.
"Ryder, follow her and radio in if she starts getting violent or destructive. Axel go to the house and tell Kathy to get ready to immobilize Carla is need be. I'll get Carter back to the house," Liam ordered before going into the house and picking up Carter's body. He carried him back to the cabin, Ryder followed Carla, and Axel was already back at the cabin.
"Carla wait up!" Ryder called out. Carla had no reaction as she walked into a little trailer house and disappeared behind the door. Ryder started sprinting towards the house but Carla came out before he got there.
"Hey. Carla," Ryder said as he met her and put his hand on her shoulder to stop her from continuing to walk. She let out another growl from the back of her throat. Ryder looked at her and noticed that her eyes were clouded. Her face was still blanketed by a unreadable emotion. Ryder slightly pushed her so she was one step further back. Carla grabbed his wrist in one swift motion and a loud crack caused Ryder to stumble back holding his now deformed wrist. He was now crying in pain since Carla used her powers to severely fracture his wrist.
She walked towards the woods and sat on a rock just outside the treeline. Ryder kept his distance, sitting about ten feet away. Carla just looked blankly at the grass.
--
Kathy opened the door to let Liam in, he was carrying Carter bridal style into the house and set him down on the couch.
Madelyn instantly got up from her spot at the table and walked over to Carter, she started looking him over, checking for any sign of life. When she set her fingers on his neck she froze. She jerked her head at Kathy who was looking curiously at her.
"Come feel this," She demanded as she took a step back.
Kathy walked over and set her fingers in the same position that Madelyn's were.
"Doesn't that feel familiar," Madelyn asked in a serious tone.
Kathy looked up, "Just like Carla's was right after-"
"Exactly," Madelyn added, "He's in a coma."
