Chapter 26 - Skeletons in the closet

"You see brother Dai, she doesn't care about you anymore....until when will you keep fanning your feelings?"

Dai didn't reply, he was still staring at the girl's back, his face not reflecting any of the conflicted emotions submerging him. When she had looked at him, her eyes were cold, void of any feelings. So different from his memories. He still remembered the sparkle in her eyes every time she saw him.

Those 2 years they spent together were unforgettable to him and he always thought it was the same for her. He always believed she, like him, would hold on their promise. He never thought she would manage to treat him as a stranger nor that she would be able to replace him. But she just did and that was the most painful moment he ever lived. He felt as if his heart and soul were being crushed.

Minh who was attentively observing Dai, wasn't able to read his face. "Ran I'll definitely make you pay. There is no way I'll ever let you be happy".

5 YEARS AGO, SUMMER CAMP

"Instructor Dai, am I doing the right thing?"

Dai was looking at the beautiful teenage girl in front of him. He was supposed to treat all the students the same way at the camp but he couldn't. When he first saw her, he was struck by Cupid's bow. It was the first time he ever felt something like that.

Even though he tried really hard to stay objective, he was being swayed every time by her. She had just arrived few days ago and already he couldn't steer away from her. But he could tell she had never experienced love. Every time he would look at her, he could see her blushing.

"Ran, you shouldn't be doing this. It's not your responsibility to do the cooking and cleaning! Where are the ones on duty?"

" They never showed up "

"..."

Dai was wondering why her group was bullying her. He smiled at her and promised himself he would punish them later. After all, he was from a military background, he couldn't let people discard his orders so easily.

"Let this brother Dai helps you out then."

He stared at her again, looking at her cheeks getting flushed like a blooming beautiful pink carnation. He couldn't stop himself from pinching one. She was so absolutely adorable under the summer sunset. It was giving her fair skin a golden glow, tinting her eyes with a flame. She was so alluring. At the end of the summer, there would be a bonfire, he would definite ask her to date him with marriage in mind. He knew he was too young to propose but he already knew she was the ONE.
