Chapter 11 - The Otaku Anatomy

Looking around the noisy classroom, I found most of the characters that I recognized from the original anime.

Hah... Fortunately, nothing changed much.

Except...

Hagakure-san is missing.

Thinking about it, I had initially thought that Mineta would be the one who would've been pushed out with my interference but, upon thinking about it more realistically, I have realized that aside from being helpful in staying hidden, Hagakure-san's quirk didn't do much while, Mineta's could be used for battles to a certain extent. On another note, the anime did point out that Mineta was surprisingly smart as well...

That is why...

The grape juice managed to remain.

Hah... I'll give a moment of silence for the girls in this class as well as the hate this fic might get.

Ding-dong. Ding-dong.

Just in time, the bell rang.

"Ah! Kaito! You're late!" Over the sound of Iida praising Izuku for his wits, thinking that he had managed to decode the true purpose of the entrance exam, Izuku's loud voice attracted the attention of many people.

Ah... I was supposed to lay low today...

"Oh. Sup." I replied carelessly, moving towards the only empty chair left at the very back.

"You... SHITTY EYES-" Bakugo began to shout loudly but was quickly cut off.

"If you're here to socialize, then get out." An indifferent voice interrupted, causing many to look towards a yellow caterpillar by the door.

"This is..." The caterpillar took a nutritional drink and sipped. "The hero course."

...

'EHHH???'

The new students were all taken aback, confused but soon managed to calm down.

As a person who already knew what would happen, I wasn't part of the surprised crowd but, still enjoyed their surprised looks regardless.

"It took eight seconds for you to quiet down. Time is a precious resource. You lot aren't very rational, are you?" Aizawa commented as he slowly unzipped his sleeping bag.

"I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta. Pleased to meet you." He said as he stood up.

Upon hearing that he was supposed to be their homeroom teacher, the students were even more surprised but, before they could process the information, a set of gym attire was shoved into their faces.

"Quickly now. Change into your gym clothes and head to the grounds."

... It really makes me curious how all those fit inside his sleeping bag.

...

"A test of our quirks?!"

Upon learning about this, the students were shocked.

"What about the entrance ceremony? Or guidance sessions?" Ochaco Uraraka, quirk: Anti-Gravity, the same girl who saved Izuku from tripping before the exam and was, in turn, saved by Izuku during the exam, asked in confusion.

"No time to waste on that stuff if you want to become heroes." Aizawa answered indifferently, making it obvious that he cared none for it. "U.A. is known for its 'freestyle' education system. That applies to us teachers as well."

The students became silent, waiting for their teacher's next words.

"Softball throwing. Standing long jump. 50-meter dash. Endurance running. Grip strength. Side to side stepping. Upper body training. Seated toe touch." Aizawa listed all the basic gym practices one by one. "This were all done during your middle school years. Your standard No-Quirk-Allowed gym tests."

At this point, I had already drifted off, partly daydreaming, partly listening. Most of the time, I was just wondering what Shoji looked like under his mask.

Ah, I was curious in my past life too but, since I could do nothing about it, I reluctantly let it go so, now that I can physically interact with these characters... Maybe ... I could...

"Yamori!"

"What?" Upon being suddenly called out, I had accidentally replied informally.

Ah... Now, I just appear like a rude student, don't I?

"How far could you throw in middle school?" Fortunately, Aizawa didn't seem to have taken it seriously. But, since his current age (30) was still greater than mine (27) even with both lifetimes combined (living until the age of 17 in the previous world and having transmigrated to this world for 10 years), I still need to be respectful to him.

Aside from that, why is it me who gets picked? Is it because I took first place?

"56 meters." I answered honestly. Hah... I'm not exactly the strongest person... In fact, this was already a great improvement from my previous body which could barely throw a ball to a mark 20 meters away. If not for All Might's training, I would've done much worse but, an inherently weak body is impossible to fix with just training.

That is why I thank my laziness.

"Great. Now try it with your quirk. Do whatever you need to. Just don't leave the circle." Aizawa instructed.

"Got it... But, before that." I hesitated for a moment and grabbed something which was hiding in my hair. Somehow, the white from her fur and the white from my hair were the same exact shade so, for that reason, no one managed to notice her yet.

"Sensei... Please hold my cat for a moment."

Nya~

"AH! IT'S MASHIRO-CHAN!" Izuku exclaimed from within the crowd.

...

"There was actually a cat in his hair... and we never noticed it... That guy is dangerous."

With Mashiro settled comfortably in Aizawa's embrace, I took a deep breath, and, under the eyes of my classmates, thick strings crawled out from my wrists.

At this point, they no longer looked like strings due to how thick they were. They looked more like metal cables.

I really do thank my laziness in this occasion.

In my extreme laziness, I had refused to get out of bed to throw crumpled pieces of paper towards the small garbage bin across the room so, I had come up with a way to fix that.

As I watched the thick strings begin to bend and warp, forming a huge coil in front of me, a satisfied smile made its way on my face.

Behold! My great creation! The Super-Super Compression Spring!

With the softball secured at the upper end of the coil, I pulled it inwards, compressing the built up kinetic energy at the base and then...

Released.

...

"648.7 meters." Aizawa said, suddenly breaking the silence. "It's important to know our limits. That's the first rational step to figuring out what kind of heroes you'll be."

"Whoa! That was far!"

"So we can use our quirks? Seriously?! The hero course is awesome!"

Ah~ Fortunately, my quirk isn't the flashy type so there weren't any exaggerated reactions.

"WHOA!!! KAITO! THAT WAS AWESOME!!!"

...I stand corrected.

From within the crowd, Izuku was cheering loudly, a proud look on his face as though he just watched his child win a competition.

...That was a very awkward description. I'm sorry.

Fortunately, Izuku was soon consumed by his own worries and became quiet, nervously muttering about something.

In the end, I just shrugged my shoulders and slunk back into the comfort of the shadows.

I glanced at my wrists in frustration.

Hah... It's bleeding again.

In order to not be spotted in case Aizawa targets me for this, I carelessly wiped it on the edge of my sleeves and pretended there was nothing wrong.

Laying low is key to living a long life...

"...Awesome you say?" Aizawa muttered coldly. "You're hoping to become heroes after three years here... And you think it'll all be fun and games?"

Izuku began to sweat nervously.

"Right. The one with the lowest score across all eight events will be judged as hopeless..." Aizawa drawled out and looked at Izuku with hidden meanings. "...and will be expelled."

"WHAAAAAATTT???!!!"

"Your fates are in our hands. Welcome. This is..."

"The hero course at U.A. High!"
