This is bad.
This is very bad.
Ah, for some reason, I was placed in the same location as Bakugo.
Hah~ This is going to be difficult.
Judging from his character, he'd want to get even with me for 'interfering' with him all those months ago.
Ah... Let's just hope it won't turn into a mess.
As I was mentally preparing myself, a certain angry blonde went up to me and glowered, his eyes burning with competitive spirit.
"We'll settle our business today, shitty eyes!" He shouted, pointing right at me, causing the other examinees to give us curious glances.
"Ah~ You can't still be mad about that, right? It's been more than ten months already~" I whined in an annoying voice.
"Hey, aren't those two from the sludge incident?"
"Seriously?! I was thinking that too!"
"Damn! What bad luck!"
As the surrounding people began to chatter and complain about their bad luck, Bakugo sneered and stormed off. "Just prepare yourself. GOT THAT, SHITTY EYES?!"
"Sure thing, Bomberman~"
"And... Begin!"
That's the cue.
While everyone was still confused, I used my strings and hauled myself over the crowd, rushing past the barricade of people and headed straight for the buildings inside before anyone could react but, to my surprise, Bakugo was even faster than I was, sprinting ahead and quickly taking care of one single point robot.
Damn! He's fast!
Not willing to concede, I quickly spotted a double point robot and dashed ahead, my strings acting on their own to tie it up. With a single tug, the strings tightened and, soon, the robot was sliced into neat pieces.
"What the-"
"So fast!"
"Those two-"
"It's impossible!"
It was only after both Bakugo and I had already taken care of quite a few robots that the rest managed to catch up, only to see a scene of wreckage.
As of now, both of us had roughly the same amount of points.
"Haha! How are you faring over there, bomberman?" I laughed and taunted, having just torn apart three double points and one triple point robot, which was stolen from Bakugo.
"Damn it, Shitty eyes!!! I'll get you back for that one!" Was all that was heard before a large, metal arm which previously belonged to a single point robot flew past, nearly hitting my head and killing me.
"Shit! Are you trying to kill me?!" I shouted, shocked that he would actually go that far.
"So what if I am?!" He shouted back, giving me the middle finger before rushing after a triple point robot.
"Come back here! Let me beat you up!" A few veins began to pop out from my forehead noticeably as I crushed a few double point robots.
"Come here and beat me up yourself!" Bakugo challenged after finishing off a few robots that he somehow found, explosions going off in his hands. "I'll promise to give you a good beating back!"
"Damn you! You think I really won't beat you up?!"
"Ha! Those flimsy strings of yours won't even be able to touch the corner of my clothes!"
"Come at me then!!!"
"You wanna go, huh, SHITTY EYES?!!"
In the center of the chaos, two boys were arguing quite loudly. Around them, broken parts of tens... tens... roughly around a hundred(?) robots which served as fake villains.
At this point, many examinees had already given up on trying, surrendering to the monopoly of those two boys who were glaring at each other.
In the end, they just watched the show with great interest, as well as bitterness.
"Damn. Those two should choose between arguing or getting points!"
"Or leave some for the rest of us..."
"Actually, what's scaring me is how they keep arguing with each other while fighting those damn bots and still managing to get most of em!"
"Fuck! Those monsters!"
...
We don't tell them how many villains there are or how they're placed.
Such a wide battlefield and limited time... Brings out the best in them.
There are those who can assess the situation in an instant, intelligence gatherers.
Those who'll never be late to the party, mobility experts.
Those who can cope with any given situation, decision makers.
And then, there are the natural-born warriors.
The abilities needed to preserve peace in our cities... are judged from the points they earn.
From inside the viewing room, pro heroes gathered to assess the future heroes, aspiring heroes, of the country.
"This year's quite the bumper crop, huh?"
"Nah. No way to know yet."
"But, this should tell us more."
Suddenly, on the examination grounds, the buildings began to shake, and some examinees even struggled to keep their balance. This occurrence attracted even the attention of the two boys who were already rearing for a fight.
It begins now.
All at once, everyone turned to look at one direction.
...
Damn! It's here! I got distracted!
This is totally unlike me. What the hell happened?
Knowing full well that I couldn't do anything to something of that size without attracting too much attention, I turned around to escape.
"God... damned... ROBOT!!! GOD DAMNED SHITTY EYES!!!" From within loud explosions, I could faintly hear Bakugo cursing me out loudly.
I turned around, just to see him still stubbornly trying to destroy a bunch of robots even though the giant zero point robot was already right behind him.
"Hurry up and run, you idiot! You're about to be crushed to death!!!" I shouted at him but he just acted like he didn't care.
"PISS OFF, SHITTY EYES!!! I'LL GET THESE FUCKING ROBOTS AND TOP THE DAMNED SCORE BOARD!!!" He shouted with an angry scowl.
I originally planned to leave him since I knew he couldn't possibly die in an exam but, seeing the giant robot quickly rushing over, I couldn't take any chances.
"DAMN IT!" I clenched my teeth and dashed over as fast as I could. "YOU IDIOT! STUBBORNNESS SHOULD HAVE A LIMIT!!!"
Before I could think clearly, I quickly wrapped my strings around Bakugo's body and hauled him over, inwardly thanking All Might's insistence in training me as well since Bakugo's body was quite heavy.
"Fuck! PUT ME DOWN!!! SHITTY EYES!!!" Bakugo shouted, gritting his teeth in rage as he let out explosions from his hands but my strings blocked them all. "I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU!!!"
"DO THAT AFTER WE ESCAPE, YOU DUMBASS!!!" I shouted back, madly pushing my legs to their limit.
Wait... I have strings...
Suddenly getting a realization, I tightened my strings on Bakugo's body and lowered him onto my shoulder, carrying him like a sack of potatoes. With my strings freed up, I physically prepared myself for what I was about to do.
"Hold on tight, bomberman! We're going for a ride!"
"Huh?! What- WHAT THE FUCK?!!"
With his scream, we flew in the air, swinging from building to building spiderman style.
"DAMN YOU SHITTY EYEEEEESSSSS!!!!"
...
I didn't know how long exactly it lasted but, we eventually made it to safety then, the exams ended soon after.
... Somewhat.
Before Bakugo managed to recover from his nausea, I quickly made my escape, asking for directions towards the school clinic since I already knew that was where Izuku would be in if things proceeded normally.
And, just as I predicted, there he was, unconscious on the bed.
Although I already knew it would happen, after spending those months with the boy, I had gotten attached to him and couldn't help but feel worried.
This is bad...
"Yes, sonny? Is anything the matter?" As I was lost in thought, I heard a calm voice ask in concern, making me snap out of it.
"Oh, not really, ma'am. I'm this guy's friend. Just went here to check on him." I smiled at Recovery Girl who was acting as the school's nurse and sat down beside Izuku's bed.
"Is that so? Then, that's all good." She opened her drawer, seeming to be looking for something. "That child is lucky to have a friend like you."
"Haha... Actually, I'm the one who should feel lucky..." I muttered, unknowingly, a strange smile made its way to my face. "This guy... He's my salvation."
"I see..." A complex emotion flitted across Recovery Girl's eyes before quickly disappearing.
Finally, she seemed to have found what she was looking for and stretched out her hand. "Gummy?"
"Oh, yes, thank you." I gratefully took a few, only just realizing how hungry I was. I skipped breakfast today...
Then, all was quiet as Recovery Girl and I kept to ourselves, waiting for Izuku to wake up.
