Chapter 17 - Ch. 17

I woke up fine for the first time since last year, that was around the first week of 10th Grade. I had no dreams, flashes or problems of some sort to be worrying about. It was basically the best thing I could have at that time. I think I slept for so long because it was actually starting to darken up. I don't even know what time I slept!

I got up and rubbed my eyes and slowly walked away from the bedroom and into the kitchen to cook for my "dinner." I don't usually cook the dishes for myself. Like I said, Lina cooks for us. But time to time she helps me practice my cooking and it turns out "okay" and by okay I mean I hadn't burn our house down.

So I went straight for the fridge and opened it to see what the things I could work on. I remember that I had bought some veggies with some pork and there's some spices that I bought too. When I opened the fridge, I took all that I needed and put them all on the countertop to get ready to cook.

Well I decided to just eat eggs. I'll just fry them and eat them together with the bread I bought and maybe even toast it. I don't really want to be experiment on my food because it might be a bit early to burn the place down, isn't it?

After I plugged my electric stove in the socket beside the fridge, I then wondered how I can cook with this considering that it is my first time to operate this by myself.

I took all the things that I needed, but I realized something. I forgot to buy frying pans. A blast of stupidity just hit me hard. "What the hell? How can you be so stupid?!" I said to myself while I was quickly changing into a more decent pair of clothes. I took my money and left to SEGC.

I ran throught the streets, the houses and the people. Turned, crossed, ran and even tripped on the way. I was left panting at the entrance but was immediately welcomed by a grand view with cold air. I went straight to their cookware section and bought a couple of pans.

After I bought the pans, I went out the department store and went to a food stall to buy some water. Then I thought "I should just eat here!" While drinking eagerly to soothe my raging lungs. So I then tried to find the nearest place to eat at.

I found a comfortable place and ordered my food. It was filled with paintings that attracted my attention and rustic designing of the whole place. The themed color was beige and blue so it was a new for me. I sat down on a smooth, round, glass table and waited for my food. But while I was waiting I just thought about how I stupid I was earlier.

My food arrived which was a honey-glazed chicken breast with sesame seeds.

I went out of there with a handful of pans and a full stomach. Considering the price, which was of a couple bucks, it was actually worth it.

I went home quietly with a noisy mind. I looked at the already night sky but the streets were so lit up that not a single star could be seen. Though, it's quite a bummer. I walked down the last block and stopped by an ATM to check my card balance, "$ 7,124" It read. I walked away and was embraced by the cold winds through the lively streets. I turned right and there it was, a green home, welcoming me.

I reached the second floor and saw that the lights were still on and the door was slightly opened. I was a little surprised but I just thought that maybe because I was such in a hurry that I didn't turn the stove off.

Then it hit me, again. "Wait! The stove!!!" I shouted in realization, opening the door blazing fast. Before I could even make a run for it, I was stopped by someone who was cleaning out the countertops, which was where I plugged it earlier. He was wearing a tank top and shorts. He was toned and was sweating so much.

"Sorry if I disturbed you, I went up and heard that your fire alarm was off. So I just cleaned it." He said while wiping the counters clean before I could even say a single word. "Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so stupid." I said, dropping the pans on the table. He turned around and saw the pans.

"Oh." He said.

"Yup." I replied with a smile and nodded.

He wiped his face with his tank top that's now brown instead of white. "You left a lot of trouble here unfortunately, haha." He smiled and chuckled at me and ran his fingers through his hair.

"The stove was on, the fridge was open, the bedroom messy and even the door open." He said while he turned around and washed the rag he used to clean the countertop.

"Yeah, sorry about that." I replied.

"You're new here, aren't you?" He said as he faced me and leaned on the countertop.

"Yeah, just came here yesterday." I replied

"Not too bad." He said while looking around the house while still leaning. "You made a lot of progress, you furnished it in a day and even got the place on fire. Haha" He said as we chuckled together.

He wiped his sweat again but it just made his face wetter, his tank top was already so wet.

"Hey, can I get you a shirt? I insist, you might get Pneumonia if you don't change." I said while looking at him.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure it'll fit you. We're both the same size I think." I said while I stood up and went to the bedroom.

"What will fit?" He said in a curious tone, following me.

"Come, you'll see." I said as I entered the room.

I opened the closet and gave him my EGU shirt.

"Woah!!! How did you get this shirt?!" He said while holding it, hesitating to put it on.

"Haha, I used to go to school there. You can have it." I said while a small smile.

He removed his tank top and I was just amazed. Woah, he's much more toned than me. And I could see his amazing abs and sweaty skin. Then, I looked away because he might see me look at him weirdly.

"It fits! Perfectly too!" He said as he put it on and held his tank top.

"Yeah!" I said with my cheeks red and I chuckled a bit. "I'll wash your tank top for you, just a small repaying for what you did earlier." I said, sticking my hand out to him.

"Haha, no, it's okay. It stinks and it's so sweaty." He said.

"Oh, come on. It's not that wet." I replied.

"Are you sure?" He asked me.

"Yep." I replied and he gave me the tank top slowly, the moment it touched my palm I could see why he said that. It was very. Very. Wet.

I put it on my bed and we went out back to the kitchen.

"Want a drink?" I said.

"No, I'm too young to drink." He said reluctantly.

"Water. I meant. Haha" I said laughing, and he just laughed with me.

"Haha, sorry. Uh... sure, why not?" He said chuckling.

I took the water out of the fridge and took two cups, I then poured the pitcher into the cups and gave him one. We drank.

*ba-dum *ba-dum.

"What's this? My heart's beating fast. There's this familiar feeling as well." I thought.

We both put down our cups after drinking.

"Have we met before?" He said.

"Weirdly enough, I was thinking the same thing." I replied with a shocked laugh.

"Me too." He said.

"Oh wait, I think I've seen you in one of our games." I said.

"Oh yeah right! EGU vs USE!!" He said loudly.

"Haha, that's why it was so familiar!" I said though it felt different from that.

"Hey, we've been talking here for some time now, might as well introduce myself. I'm Kyle." He said in a brief tone.

"I'm Warren." I said and shook our hands.

"Anyways. I gotta go, need to feed my fat cat downstairs. Haha." He said standing up and brushing his hair again, slicking to the side.

"I'm in 2A if you need me. Bye." He said leaving the place and I closed the door behind him.

"Bye Kyle!" I said, smile wide open and cheeks red as hell.
