Chapter 18 - Ch. 18

I was left alone in my place, laying all alone on my bed. I was shocked at how he could actually do all that so easily. The place looked squeaky clean like it wasn't even on fire in the first place. I took his tank top and put it in the bathroom before washing it tomorrow. I put my hands on the sink and looked at my deep, hazel eyes.

"You look so familiar. It's like I have known him before. I can't believe that I have a neighbor as thoughtful as him." I thought as put my hands on the sink. "Well, I don't have any regrets starting over because I know this'll be good." I thought to myself As I placed the tank top in the laundry basket and I went out to the fridge.

I ran my fingers smoothly through the countertop.

"Wow! He really did a good job!" I murmured softly as I went over to the fridge and saw a note on top of it saying "Sorry, I got hungry. I ate some bread if you don't mind.".

I opened the fridge and saw that he had put all the things back to before I took the ingredients out. The packaging of the loaf bread looked like it was just opened and closed back with a simple knot. And of course, he took a couple of slices. I smiled it away and closed it back.

I learned to the right side of the fridge and looked at the trash that's full of dark ashes. "Wait, where's the stove?" I thought to myself. "He must've thrown it out," I added and walked away from the fridge and went straight to my bedroom.

I gently laid down on the bed and turned the AC on. I put my entire weight falling down on the bed creating a thump. I ended up staring blankly at the ceiling.

"I wonder how I'm going to live after this month." I thought.

"I'm really sorry that I had to leave you. It's just that I couldn't take it anymore." I mumbled. I looked at the time.

"7:54"

"*Sigh, I should try to get a clock in here." I stood up and went to the bathroom again.

I looked at my face dead straight and had this thought in my head from the saleslady yesterday. "Am I handsome?"

I kept on tilting, turning, twisting, and staring at my face. but I stopped in the realization as I froze. "Oh no! I must've looked so disgusting! I haven't even taken a single bath or even tried to decide to freshen up! Ew! I'm such a freak!"

(Warren's imagination. Saleslady's POV)

"Miss?" I heard a voice as I arranged the shelf.

"What is it this time?" I said lightly and I rolled my eyes.

I turned to see this guy who stunk so badly, he looks like he hasn't taken a shower and a couple of them at least.

"Do you know where the furniture section is, miss?" He said. And immediately after that, the gust of wind that came from his mouth killed me.

I was so scared that maybe he was a serial killer of some sort or maybe even a drug addict. I froze in front of him and couldn't look away.

"Miss? Are you okay?" He said as he got closer to him and made the stench a super intense one. I was super disgusted at him. My nose felt like being grated, except that the grater had molds all over them.

He got closer til' I could only see his face looking down at me. And before he could say anything more, I decided to cut in.

"Fourth Floor!" I said. Then he left.

"Whew!" I sighed. That was close.

(Back to reality)

That was frickin' embarrassing. I don't wanna go there anymore! I took my bath towel and went ahead to take a bath.

"I should really get a job. Who knows, maybe they'll stop sending me money." I thought as I ran my fingers across my hair and felt the cold shower upon my face.

After I took a bath, I changed to a casual pair of clothes.

I wore sweatpants with a white hoodie. And the shoes were basically the finish to the whole look.

This time, I made sure I left the house tidy and clean.

I went out for a quiet stroll across the serene streets. The silence was broken by a couple of cars here and there mixed with the beautiful songs of the birds that fly around the tall, vibrant trees.

I took the same turns and crosses to SEGC to find the spot where I ate. The perfect amount of people chattering in the long line with the sound of the employees harmoniously cooperating in the kitchen welcomed me.

I went over to the cashier

"Good morning! Dear customer! What brings you here on a very good morning?" she greeted me.

Looks like there's a sort of celebration going on here.

"What's with the happy vibes?" I said chuckling.

"Oh! we're celebrating our 4th anniversary here in Savory House! So, everything will be available for half the price for only 4 hours!" She said with a big smile.

"Oh! How wonderful! But can I ask you something?" I replied back with a question.

"Yeah sure, Sir! " She said.

"Are you hiring as of today?" I asked nervously.

"Yeah! We actually are hiring waiters at the moment! Why the question sir?" She said.

"I was hoping I could apply for it," I said with an anxious chuckle.

New life comes with new responsibilities.

"Time to get going, Warren!" I thought.
