Luna Dell was born into an affluent family from New Montague. The family had been very influential since the earliest days of the city, being the main contributor of the major Artworks and buildings. For some time, the Dell family had been working in the heavily saturated architecture industry; becoming arguably the most successful in the industry. With no competition whatsoever, the family became a powerhouse in New Montague; effectively making the city theirs.
During this time of wealth and prosperity, the city was beginning to be swayed by the promises of a rivalling family; The Ciels. The Ciels waged a war of money and slander against the prominent Dell family, wounding the latter's reputation immensely.
It was during this time that Luna was born. From the day she first spoke, she was already being groomed by the best of the city to become a woman of power. This was definitely not for waste, as she was determined to possess a PQ of 84; making her the most promising youth of her household.
As the years went by, she grew to become an extremely hard working and refine youth, garnering the respect and interest of regional and national figures alike. This soon culminated in her transfer to Autom High. With the Ciels gone from her life, Luna gained some freedom, but was still expected to work hard at her new school.
Since the legacy of her family is lying on her shoulders, she knows that she cannot become slothful.
She joined the Board in her first year, under the rulership of the already influential Kelvin and Angelica. She was at first just a pawn, but she quickly proved herself in the many ranked games of the first semester. With her power being able to crush most opponents with only a single move, she became a bishop with relative ease. It was around this time that she suffered her first loss.
Midway through the second semester, Luna was challenged by an unlikely opponent. The opponent dressed herself without respect for society or the rules, instead, keeping their uniform unkempt and creased. Luna thought nothing of her opponent, but nevertheless, she did not let her guard down. It was during this duel that Luna lost her reputation as an perfect youth. The challenger defeated Luna after a long round of relentless fighting, leaving the latter on the ground.
On the ground, the broken girl did not know how to express her frustrations, crying out as students walked by. It was in this moment of strife that she was found by her mentor.
"Hello there, Luna Dell? What happened? Can I help you in any way?" The girl asked.
"WHY DID I JUST LOSE??!!" Luna cried as she slammed her fists on the ground.
"I do not know, but losing doesn't mean the end of everything." The girl responded.
"How about you come back with me, I know just the place that can help you free yourself from this weight."
"Yes...please.."
Luna would soon join the Newspaper which was headed by a fourth year student, named Rin Peters. Run would become Luna's mentor and guide her for the remainder of the year, helping Luna overcome her internal challenges. Everyday became a new experience as Luna was allowed to explore for herself rather than reading only from a book. She quickly became the star of the Newspaper, becoming Rin's pride and joy.
The days were always busy however, but this was not the same type of busy that Luna had been dealing with from day 1. At least now she had more engaging work to do, making the hours go by like a breeze. Everyday, Rin would heather a few interesting stories for Luna to look at, giving the latter something worthwhile to do.
This went on for months before Rin had to graduate from Autom. It was at this time that Vale joined the Newspaper, proving to be a proficient writer and researcher. With the addition of Vale, Rin could finally leave without having to worry about Luna being lonely.
Graduation ended that year with the goodbyes of the seniors, leaving their juniors behind to enter a new world. Luna of course still missed Rin, thinking of the latter as her one true mentor. The years would not have been the same without the former Newspaper head Luna thought.
The feelings of joy and redemption were all she could think of when she looked back to her first year. Redeemed from her loss, she became a stronger individual. Joyful for what she had, she became a grateful person. Both of these qualities were gained from her interactions with her mentor. She would have arguable been a completely different person if it weren't for Rin's intervention at such a critical time. For that, Luna thanks Rin.
"Thank you for always being there for me, Rin." Luna said as her eyes became tearful.
"Don't cry, I will always be there at the press of that call button." Rin spoke cheerfully.
"Just make sure to call me every so often." Rin continued as she place her right hand on Luna's left shoulder.
"I promise I will." Luna said.
"Good, now make sure that our Newspaper doesn't lose popularity at this school! You are now the head, I trust that you will be a fantastic head. Just make sure not to put on much pressure on yourself, otherwise my phone will be charging overtime!" Rin joked.
"I promise that I will be fine." Luna responded.
"You definitely will."
With that, Luna said her goodbyes to her one and only mentor; becoming the head of the Newspaper. Luna still thinks of the not so distant days of last year.
