The day had started off fine in Shinogo village, it was a small city that was founded for a stopping point for trade boats and it was mainly held by pillars in the sea below them, the village chief chatted with villagers, and the chief's son came back from Shinogo woods with bones, mushrooms, fish, meat, and ores. The trading of goods had just started but all of a sudden, there was a tremor. It was the first time it had happened in 75 years. All the villagers were talking frantically to the Chief wanting to know what it was that caused the tremor.
Omega was an imposing figure, a tall and strong man. Omega had been hunting since he was 8. He wore a full set of armor made of pieces of a monster called the Qurupeco which was a sort of singing vulture, with a spectacular array of rainbow feathers and a tail like a beaver. The Qurupeco could morph its shout to call other large monsters. Omega wielded a bow that looked like a butterfly's wing, called the Arc of Serenity. Omega had just arrived and wanted to know what happened.
As he stood behind the crowd of villagers, one of them noticed his bow strapped to his back, it looked like the wings of a butterfly and it was huge. The villager stepped aside. All that followed did the same. The chief was surprised to see a hunter. Omega was a skilled hunter, hunter was the name the people gave to other people who had hunted large monsters or repelled them. The chief asked Omega "Came here looking for some monster to kill? If so I have a deal for you." The chief postulated. Omega looked at him and asked what kind of deal it was. The chief replied "We give you a place to stay, and all the supplies you need in exchange that you kill the monster we ask you to, is that a good deal?" Omega asked if he could use the blacksmith and the chief replied, "Yes, of course."
Omega had been toured around the village and decided to go to the farm to see how it was. When he arrived he was greeted by three felynes, which were cats that stood on two legs, and the head farmer. He asked if the farmer could ask his felynes if they could cultivate parashrooms, powershrooms and toadstools which were mushrooms used to make coatings. The head farmer told his cats to harvest the mushrooms Omega gave him and they rushed to go cultivate. Omega then left to go see the blacksmith to forge an armor for his felyne, Cinder and maybe a weapon to replace the flimsy sword and shield he had. When he got to the blacksmith and asked if he could make armor for his felyne. Then he gave the blacksmith Muirear scales claws and a Muirear tail. The blacksmith made his felyne a sturdy Muirear armor, which was known to be one of the strongest armor in the country. Then Omega gave the blacksmith some Isilinda scales, an Isilinda scute and a lava nugget. The blacksmith quickly made Omega´s felyne an Isilinda hammer. Then Omega went to the shopkeeper to see what she sold. He used a lot of gold coins on paralysis coatings, sleep coatings, power coating and poison coatings which he would use to increase the effect of his bow.
He remembered that the chief gave him a place to stay so Omega went to his "house" and put all his coatings, potions, mega potions, antidotes and the rest of his huge amount of stuff. Then Omega left the house to see what the chief wanted him to do. He met the chief in the small town's main square.
He asked the chief "What monster should I kill today, chief?"
"We've been having problems with a Lagiacrus in the North I believe it is causing the tremors," the Chief replied.
Omega left the chief to go get the things he needed to repel the Lagiacrus. He left just after. It took him a long time to go down the river; he rowed and rowed to reach the deserted island. His hatred for the Lagiacrus was immense; the monster had killed his father, his mother and all his friends years before.
He remembered the time when he first went hunting with his father. It had been his 8th birthday and he remembered how he was overjoyed to receive a hunter's bow and a leather armor set. He remembered how they first hunted the 'Qurupeco' and how he found it the most amazing yet scary thing he had ever seen. He remembered the horrible day when they had to defend their village from the Lagiacrus. The beast haunted his dreams and was his nightmare. The roar echoed in the darkness of his consciousness and the horrible scene of when it devoured his father and his mother. He started to cry as he kept rowing towards the deserted island.
"Cinder," Omega announced as his felyne looked at him "I want you to go gather materials and stay out of the battle, I don't want to lose my closest friend," Cinder looked at him and nodded as Omega kept talking "The Lagiacrus is known for destroying villages and killing many skilled hunters."
As he continued to row he heard a deafening roar, it was the same as the one in his nightmares. At that point he knew something was already there fighting it. He thought of all the other reasons why it would roar like that. Then a horrible thought crossed his mind, Could there be two? He thought. The Lagiacrus was often fighting for territory or attacking something in its territory. One is bad enough but two is an assured death! He thought. Then he heard a low pitched but long roar. Omega didn´t know which monster had that roar but it definitely was not a Lagiacrus`s roar.
