Chapter 10 - The Barrens of the Beast

Omega and Naomi were sharing their room as a newly married couple, it was a very spacious and nice room. They had all the things they packed put away and Naomi wanted to rest and Omega decided to go see Benji. He met Benji in his training arena. Omega leaned against the wall as Benji practiced using his weapon, a weapon that Omega had never seen before. He ran forward to then plant one end of the long rod like weapon into the ground and propelled himself into the air and coming back down slamming the weapon on the target, deeply embedding it. He swung his arm towards a target and a sort of huge insect flew from his arm to hit a target and come back to land on his arm. Omega clapped as Benji put his weapon on his back. Benji turned in surprise.

"Sorry, I didn't see you there," He said as he saw Omega, "Do you need anything?"

"For starters, what is that?" Omega asked as he pointed at Benji's weapon and the insect on his arm, "And I have some time to spare, is there anyway to hunt or train?"

"Well, this weapon is a Kinsect Glaive, it's a staff that I can use to propel myself in the air and hit monsters with more momentum and it contains a sent in the stump of the staff that attracts a Kinsect, but you have to find your Kinsect and it will often come to you," Benji explained, "And yes there is a place to train, there is an abandoned arena, which a lot of small or medium sized monsters call home, so whenever you are ready we can go there."

"Cool, we can go now since I am ready."

"Okay, let's head out then."

They left the city and walked through the plains soon arriving at a ruined city.

"The Dalamadur destroyed the city, leaving nothing in its destructive path."

Omega looked around as they walked, not a single house was intact. What is this beast? How can it destroy a city this big? Omega walked alongside Benji as they arrive towards the ruined arena.

They arrived and Benji signaled he follow him into the stands of the arena. Omega looked down and saw a huge monster, a dragon like monster who stood on all fours and had ooze seeping from the scars on its legs and tail. Omega realized that the arena was huge and was even extended deeper in the ground. The beast rose its head and looked around as if it were searching for something.

"Stay quiet, that's a Gogmazios, that ooze will explode after some time if he roars," Benji whispered.

"What do I aim for?" Omega asked.

"Wait, you really want to fight it?" Benji asked in surprise.

"Yea, just answer the question."

"Aim for his head."

Omega reached for his pouch and pulled out an elder dragon round, this bolt was larger but caused more recoil when it was fired for the simple fact that more power was used.

"Whenever you're ready," Omega told Benji.

"Fire."

Omega fired, the bolt soared through the air and hit the beast in the left eye. It stopped walking and looked around and soon spotted Benji and Omega. It let out a ear-breaking, high pitched roar that made the ground tremble and shatter. Benji quickly moved around on the floor using his weapon to launch himself in the air dodging the Gogmazios' strikes and the ooze that blackened the ground when it exploded. Omega fired bolts all hitting the beast's face but it had no reaction to a bolt hitting its left eye. As Benji launched his Kinsect, he leaped onto the beast's back. It went into a frenzy trying to shake him off. The beast toppled over after a minute of thrashing. Benji put his weapon on his back and told Omega to distract the monster. Omega put his weapon away and jumped into the arena as Benji moved a large kart on rails around the arena. As the monster got up he fired a massive projectile and it hit the Gogmazios' head dealing the killing blow. Benji came back and him and Omega left the arena and headed back to the city.

"Omega! where were you?" Naomi asked sounded very upset, "I was worried."

"I was hunting with Benji," Omega said scratching his head, "Was I out that long?"

"I got up around three hours ago, you could have left me a message or something," Naomi complained.

"Sorry, I forgot," Omega said as he kissed her forehead as they went to bed.

"Don't do that again."

"Good night."

"You didn't answer me," She said as she got up and shook Omega.

"I promise I won't do that again."

"Goodnight."

"Goodnight."
