My Ex,
I will not ask
How you are
You and I are
Not made for each other.
I'm not your
Sky and the star(s)
Beautiful and bright
As the moonlight
Like a bottle of
Mineral water
Everything is now clear
Love to you is
Not stars and sky
It is stocks
Soaring high
You are not my desire
We're not made for each other.

The car slowed down and came to a halt. With it also stopped the sound of hissing and flapping of the punctured tyre. To have a flat tyre in the middle of nowhere, in some deserted place where there was nothing except miles and miles of vast summer paddy fields ready for harvest was a disaster. It was May, already hotter on the road without the wind fanning you inside a running car or the car air conditioner switched on.
Staring at the flat tyre Nia cursed her luck. 'Good Nia. Now you are stuck for god knows how long.' She taunted herself in frustration. Here she would not be able to get any help to change the flat tyre. If she herself had to change the tyre her clothes would be dirty and messy. She would have to take a bath and change clothes. That only meant that while she was going to be already late for college because of the tyre, she would be more late with cleaning and changing afterwards.
It was Monday morning. She was returning from home after spending the weekends with her family. Several cars passed by. Nia did not wave as she was not sure if she should ask for help when she knew how to change the tyre. Though it was hot in May, luckily being still early morning the sun was not yet scary. She looked at her clothes and kicked the tyre. 'Sari and a flat tyre, nice combination.' Nia let out a sigh and decided to change it herself.
A throaty laugh behind her made Nia almost jump and she whirled around to look at the man she hated meeting even in the dream, not that she had ever dreamed of the devil. If that had ever happened she would have tied at amulet around her neck to ward off the evil shadow even though she did not particularly believe in such thing.
She was too occupied with her own predicament to notice when the big moonlight blue Porsche cayenne stopped at a few paces behind her white Renault duster, an expensive car for a rich man. 'Is he showing off his car? Does that vile man have to choose this time to use his fucking car to show the disparity between us? What a moron.' Frustration at having a flat tyre led otherwise wise Nirvana Sonowal to childish thought and her dislike for the man did not let her realize that.
"Hello Nia, what are you doing kicking at your tyre standing in the middle of nowhere? There was an amused look in his hazel eyes, that she hated to see. Nia felt like plucking those beautiful eyes to remove the amusement in them and felt an urge to smuck his face to wipe away the silly grin. She spared him another look full of disdain, then walked back to the car trunk to get the tool box.
"Is that how you were going to change the flat tyre? You could have only injured your foot, you know?" He was still smiling as he addressed her.
Nia stared at the man with a big scowl on her face. He was the last person she would have wanted to ask help from. 'Fool, can't you see I'm retrieving the tool box? About the kick, everyone gets pissed off at some point.' Everything she said inside her head. She did not have time to waste talking with him.
"Are you returning from home? A flat tyre and you are going to be late for college."
His matter of fact observation in a casual tone had Nia boiling inside and she thought, 'If you can see, why you don't fix it, fool.' forgetting that a few minutes ago she mentally rejected any idea of help from Yougal Devil Lucas Sinha. In her anger and umbrage Nia forgot that Yougal Lucas, an intelligent and ruthless business man was not someone people would make a mistake of calling fool.
Despite her reluctance to owe to the man even a tiny winy bit of favour, Nia nodded her head. She silently watched him taking off the shades and keep it on the car bonnet, then folding up the sleeves of the cobalt blue slim shirt. The colour complimented his fair skin. 'The devil is a beauty, huh. He doesn't need fairness cream.' She narrowed her eyes. He stretched out a hand to take the car jake from her hand. A glint flashed in Nia's eyes and quickly disappeared.
'Why not take his offer and save myself from the trouble. My clothes won't get messy and dirty. I can drive straight to the college. Let him try to be the knight and serve me.'
She stood there looking at him while he changed the tyre. To a stranger it would look like that the rich lady was chilling out in the cool morning breeze of the summer while the gorgeous looking stylish chauffeur was changing a flat tyre. 'What an ironical scene! Here I'm the pauper while he's the Prince.' Nia suppressed the chuckle and maintained a straight face.
Against her will she noticed his powerful arms and the long, slender fingers. 'What would it be like to be in those arms, to be touched by those fingers? Wait...since when have I turned into a pervert? Of all people I can't fancy this man.' Nia was flabbergasted by her corrupt thoughts. Since it was a first time, she magnanimously forgave herself.
"Here's your car. Ready for driving."
Yougal Lucas' voice put an end to her self castigation, causing her to look at him. He took the tools and the flat tyre and then put everything in the trunk. While wiping his hands with the hand towel he stole a glance at Nia. He wanted very much to talk with her. But he did not make any attempt to strike a conversation as he had seen how adamant she had been to ignore him. He did not want to come up as an opportunist to her.
Nia thanked him but her attempt to smile at him failed. Unlike him it was difficult for her to pull on an act of a complete stranger. 'Such a cold devil,' she thought.
'She doesn't consider me as her knight. But she accepted my help like a queen accepting service from a lowly servant. But My own Queen, other queens would have been kind enough to at least award a smile.' He chuckled softly. His Queen was cruel.
Yougal Lucas stood by the side of her car till she started it, then walked to his own car and slipped into the driving seat. He clearly felt her antagonism, though he was yet to know the reason behind it. He was puzzled by her behaviour since the first time they had met. 'Oh yeah, she always successfully hid it under the cover of detached politeness and aloofness.'
But Yougal Lucas was a man of great intelligence and observations. He felt the animosity in her eyes, in the way she treated him, though the vibe was released in a subtle way, like the whiff of perfume that disappear before one could ascertain its essence. He decided to ask Nicholas about her. People might not find Nia as strikingly beautiful as Rhianna. But there was a certain lovely, magical attractiveness about her that was hard to ignore.
The reason might be that Rhianna's dresses and accessories were always eye catching and she was fairer while Nia was like the golden wheat. But Yougal Lucas liked Nia's smooth pale wheatish skin, that glowed like polished gold. Her subtle beauty was more alluring and her eyes hid the ocean in them. In Rhianna's party she looked unapproachable, mysterious and regal. Some people were like ocean, with its mysteries and bottomless depth. Nia was an ocean to him.
