Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Irvene's point of view

The first level students were scattered through the huge battlefield with their own battle clothes. The instructor once explained that they're wearing a bracelet called a watch, and it was an invention of one of the seventh level students. They're indeed smart. I didn't know how they came up with that idea.

He said that it could record the points of the students based on the number of the killed monster. That way, they're all aware of their points.

Not long after, the monsters started appearing in all directions. I suppose that their size is small for a competition, and they have the same appearances but vary in colors. They didn't waste their short 30 minutes time, and launched their weapons at those monsters.

They had a hard time attacking those tiny monsters that went around in circles, and its speed is far incredible.

"It is so fast!" I heard Sid said.

"I wonder if we'll encounter those monsters too. It would irritate me," Meryll followed.

Some students ended up in the puddle, while following through that speed. I heard that it wasn't that hard for the first level students last year. They even started to fear that the first elimination rounds would be harder than they expected.

The element users only gained a little advantage. Their control towards the elements was still weak, thus they had a difficult time like the non-element users.

However, the other students came up with a strategy to kill more monsters.

The instructors didn't complain. They let them build a strategy even if it's an individual elimination rounds. I thought that it's a good idea.

The battle didn't last long and that time, the monsters started to disappear into thin air. Even the plants and puddles were now gone, leaving only the students who were drenched in mud all over their bodies.

"The Highest Monster Killed elimination rounds for the first level students was finished!" The instructor announced the scores afterward.

The highest one got 400 points. That student had good control of her wind element powers and managed to score a lot on her own.

Those students who came up with a strategy had ranked above 70. Afterward, the students were given enough time to clean themselves.

The second level students and third level students' elimination rounds already ended. Like they expected, the monsters were bigger, faster, and powerful than those of the monsters from first levels' elimination rounds.

They're more experienced than the first level students, so they managed to get above 400 points even though they encountered more formidable monsters. The one who got the highest score in the third level got 800 points. It's twice higher than the latter.

"The next elimination rounds! The Highest Monster Killed for the fourth level students!" The instructors set up the field with the same small plants and puddle.

The four of us stayed at a short distance to each other.

"Don't reveal you're true abilities. Kill monsters based on a fourth level student powers," Vaughn whispered.

We nodded at him. I could do it, since half of my powers were already suppressed by my silver ring. As usual, to the eyes of the others, it only looks like a piece of normal jewelry

Monsters as tall as a human started to appear. I tightly held my staff, and observed them one by one. They didn't only vary in color, but a few of them could even fly, and I thought that their intelligence was far superior from the previous monsters of these elimination rounds.

"I'll get higher points than all of you," Sid said.

"Really? Beat me first!" Meryll followed.

They started to launch their weapons at those monsters.

"Just stop already," I muttered. They wouldn't stop even if we're in a competition?

I chanted an attack-type magic spell. It's the normal ice spikes. It's small yet the quantity is its advantage. Ice blades would attract too much attention for a fourth level student, so small ice spikes would do.

"Eh? Such small ice spikes!" I heard someone said with a sound of mockery.

I turned around and saw Lianna. Huge ice spikes were behind her with the dead monsters.

I almost frowned at the sight of her existence. Why did it seem that our meetings were always intentional? I've enough of her attitude, so I chose to ignore her.

I stepped away and attacked the two monsters' body with my small ice spikes. Controlling many small ice spikes were not hard for me. I'm an advanced two-element user. It started piercing through their bodies and blood slowly came out of them.

Suddenly, a sound could be heard from my wrists.

The thing that was on my wrist released a sound, and showed 80 points. Eh? It must be both monsters with 40 points. How lucky of me.

"H-how is that possible?" I heard her whispered.

Lianna used ice element which means that she's also a two-element user, but I doubt she could gain complete control on both elements.

With the advice of my father, I gained incredible control within the two elements. It's water and ice.

I barely use the water element because I chose to focus on ice element which was pretty hard to control, but brings much stronger attacks on a monster than a water element. Water element mainly focuses on healing abilities.

On the contrary, using both elements at the same time would be the best. It's a skill that few people could do, and that's the utmost reason why I should avoid using water element.

I might use it both at the same time accidentally in the eyes of the crowd in the midst of hiding my identity.

That would be the worst thing to happen.

After killing the two monsters, I ran farther away to Lianna and started killing monsters. I don't want to argue with her and be left behind by Vaughn, Meryll and Sid.

I noticed that the monsters that have 40 points were hard to differentiate between the 10 and 20 points monster. I took my attention to the flying monsters that have a point of 30 each.

I controlled my ice spikes at midair and it followed the fleeing flying monsters. They rarely attacks but their speed was indeed amazing. With my complete control towards ice spikes, it didn't take long when their body was pierced with ice spikes.

I killed five flying monsters which meant I gained 150 points. The watch showed 230 points, and at the upper part, it showed the remaining time of our elimination round.

There's still 20 minutes left. I'm glad that Lianna stopped pestering me around and I saw her trying to increase her ice spikes.

I continued to kill monsters until I saw Vaughn. He's using a sword, and nothing more. When there's no crowd surrounding us, he might surprise the enemy with his possession and expert use of different weapons.

At the other side, Meryll and Sid were babbling at each other while attacking monsters. They did not stop comparing their points.

I didn't waste any more time and attacked the monsters. The other fourth level students were doing their best and I couldn't lag behind them.

Afterward, I noticed that the watch blinked in red. I stopped because the given 30 minutes time ended. As expected, the monsters disappeared already.

It finished smoothly, and no one dared to do shady things aside from killing monsters. The instructors closely watched us and it would be clearly a violation of the rules if someone violate them. The consequences would be hard to imagine.

"The first elimination round for fourth level students was finished!"

I wonder who got the highest score.
