Chapter 15 - Yang Yun Returned

In a blink of an eye, five days passed since Yang Yun lead his team into Lao Mountain for a rescue mission.

These few days, Mingyue spent her time going back and forth to her grandpa place and the Imperial Infirmary.

That morning, Mingyue went out with her mother to visit the dressmaker for her wedding dress fitting and some shopping.

When she returned, she found a carriage in front of the gate and her brother's men stationed outside.

The steward approached her and told her that her elder brother, Xiao Xian was waiting for her in her courtyard.

Mingyue spoke to her mother briefly and returned to her yard. A few maidservants followed her with her belongings.

Her mouth stretched into a smile as she saw both her brother and father waiting for her in the courtyard.

She greeted them politely, and an uncomfortable feeling surged into her heart when she saw the way the two men exchanged a look.

Mingyue waved a hand to her maidservants and told them to bring her belongings into her room. Then, she turned to her brother. "Elder brother, you're looking for me?"

Xiao Xian nodded. He opened his mouth to say something but hesitated. He pressed his lips into a thin line and spoke, "Come with me." He waved his hand and walked towards the door.

"Where to?"

Xiao Xian stopped and turned to his sister. "I will explain on the way."

Mingyue turned to her father. Once she saw him nodded, giving her his assurance, she turned around to follow her brother.

"Young General." The soldiers bowed when they walked out the gate. One of them opened the door to the carriage and let the siblings enter.

Soon, the carriage started to move.

Mingyue watched her brother and waited for him to explain, but he kept his mouth shut and kept his gaze out the window as if to avoid her.

When the carriage left the Capital, Mingyue finally lose her patience. Her eyes flashed with surprise when she looked outside.

"You're taking me to the camp?" she asked.

She had been to her brother's training ground on the outskirts a countless times and was very familiar with its surroundings. "Why?"

Xiao Xian studied his sister's expression before he decided to speak. "Yang Yun returned with his team from the rescue mission this morning."

Mingyue sighed in relief at the news.

But a few questions immediately rose into her mind. She knew that her brother didn't like her meeting Yang Yun before the wedding, so why was he telling her this.

She swallowed as the uncomfortable feeling returned. "What's wrong?"

"He was badly injured."

Mingyue stared at her brother in a daze. Her face paled at the news. "W-what? How bad?"

"I don't know that much. I received news on this morning and went straight to get you. I haven't got the chance to see the extent of his injuries," Xian admitted. His frown deepened as he spoke again. "But my men said that he was unconscious when he arrived."
