Chapter 17 - The Village

„You said 9 coppers for the deer, right?"

"Yes, if you want, I can also show you what else, I have. It's possible to get a quantity discount."

"Oh, really. That would be awesome." Her face lit up.

I again opened the lit and this time I lifted the deer, a blue bird and a rabbit out of the basked.

Then she started to inspect them.

"Hmmm, I'll take the deer and two rabbits."

"Alright two rabbits and one deer. That would be 13 coppers and I'll give a discount of 1 copper. In total would that be 12 coppers."

Even though one copper discount doesn't sound much for a villager it is a lot. You can buy 2 loaves of bread with it.

"Hey Nathalie!!! I just told here to leave you can't buy something from her!"

"Why not, I need game and it is cheaper than at the marked. Also, just because you wanted to scam her and made a fool out of yourself in the process doesn't mean I can't buy something."

-Wahhh, she has the same name as my best friend back on earth, she must be a great person. –

Nathalie handed me one silver and two copper coins. "Do you accept other forms of payment?"

-Hmmm, other forms…. I could learn something form them, father probably isn't inclined to get me a teacher for everything. –

"Yes, I accept teaching and other goods." I nodded.

"Great! You see I can teach you how to make a fur coat out of your game. How much is that worth?"

-That would be awesome, a new way to earn money. But the price, how much is something like that worth? Zero anything stored in the data? –

[Searching data…

One hour of tutoring is in general worth 1 silver. Worth also depends on the quality of the teacher and the subject taught.]

-So, one silver… -

"I don't want to seem rude, but I don't know how good you are as a teacher. I would be willing to pay you one silver for one and a half our for tutoring if I think it is worth more, I'll let you know."

"Awesome, the let's go to my place. Would you mind carrying my game in your basket till we arrive?"

I started giggling "No, I would gladly." She put the games back into the basked which I took, and we started walking.

-What an odd girl, but I like her. Now I can learn new stuff. I probably should look for a way to sell my stuff at the market. Game would be difficult, but fur coats should work.

I only can try to learn everything because of Zero my learning speed is increased maybe 4 or more times than of a normal person. Besides if I know the basics of something than I can gauge its value better. –

In Natalie's house.

-That are a loot of animal heads and fur carpets. Why does she have so much in here house, I'd feel uncomfortable with so much dead animals staring back at me. –

"My parents were hunters and thy kept their best ones."

-Oh, ok but still it's creepy. –

"So, how long do you have time?"

I stopped looking around and focused on here again.

"I can stay till 11 a. m. and I'll be here in the morning around 8 a. m for as long as you'll teach me."

"Hmm, so we don't have to much time today? How about I'll just show you the tools needed, and we'll start tomorrow?"

It was 10 a. m.

"Sounds good."

With that we went into another room and she showed me the tools.

"Nathalie, I'm back."

"Oh, Tim we have a guest and a new way to make money."

He looked at me.

"You are the boy from earlier, right?"

"Yeah, you can use magic, right."

"I don't mean to brag but I'm rather good at it."

"Then teach me."

"So, you want to use that barging chip from helping me with that?"

"Obviously."

"How much is that help worth in teaching magic?"

"Tree days."

-That's quite exaggerated! Maybe not, I mean he is a commoner with less mana and he probably needs longer to learn something than me, it's probably not a good idea to compare someone to me. I can also train while he does what I taught him. Besides maybe I can turn him into an ally or a guinea pig. –

"Alright, we'll rotate. Today I'll teach you and tomorrow Natalie will teach me. Alright?"

Both nodded.

"Ok then let's go to somewhere we can train."

"I know of a place follow me."

-I'm lucky that I had Anthony teach me the first cleansing that is public knowledge, for everyone that can enter a magic school. Sight. –

After a short walk we came to a clearing.

"What can you do?"

Tim contemplated a little and showed me afterwards a two-colored basic fire and wind rune. Afterwards he made a few flames materialize in air and cut some branches from trees with wind magic.

"Do you know the runes of the other elements?"

"No."

-He probably trained a lot to make the runes like this. So, what should I teach him? I could deepen his understanding of fire and air, teach him the other runes for the basic elements, cleansing and some spells. Would that be to much? Besides with what should I start? Sight. –

"Where did you learn the runes for fire and air?"

"A book Nathalie gave me."

-I guess it is better to have a sound knowledge of two elements than a poor in all. –

"I'll teach you in air and fire element magic and cleansing."

"Cleansing what is that, it was also mentioned in the book?"

"Cleansing is the breathing technique that gets the impurities that accumulate through usage of magic in your body, out."

-So now would be great if I could scan his body and see the impurities. Can Zero scan him?

[Scanning of individual impossible]

-Why? –

[Individuals with mana have a forcefield that can't be bypassed.]

-Great, but you can scan me. –

[Affirmative.]

-I could try my idea of having world mana fuse with my personal mana and have that connect to his mana. –

"Let me see something, tell me if you feel something out of the ordinary."

-I managed to but the world mana inside him but now I need to concede it to his mana. –

It was rather hard to connect it. World mana is hard to control, and it only helps the personal mana, now I try to connect it with two different personal mana. The world mana doesn't like to be connected with one personal mana in the first place and now I try to connect it with another one so tries to evade it.

-This is so taxing. Com on get connected. –

"Are you even doing something?"

-For gods sake just shut up if it doesn't hurt! –

I tried to mask my exhausted and irritated voice "Yes just a bit longer than I'll start teaching you."

-Get conceded, get conceded, get conceded, … -

Sweat started to form on my forehead.

Then it connected

"Wooooaaaahhh"

-That's crazy, just crazy. I can see every bit of his body. Every impurity every injury he had that left some marks. And his mana, it's different form mine. Mine seems purer, his is murky. Dose that have something to do with Accumulation? Anyways back on the topic. He h-h-has n-n-not t-to …-

The connection snapped and I fell to the ground and my consciousness finished for a second.

"Hey are you alright?"

Tim ran to me and offered his and to help me up. I took it but had no choice put to sit back down immediately.

-It shows me everything but it's also so taxing, I don't know if it is reasonable to use it all the time. I probably should look for a less taxing one for the daily use. –

My breathing was unsteady, but I still managed to keep using Accumulation. "Your… don't… have… dangerous… many… impurities… "

-I can't even talk normally. Anyways I'll teach him cleansing later. This headache is killing me. I'll just show and teach him an air spell and teach that'll also deepen his understanding of the element. –

I pondered and as I was about to use personal mana my headache intensified.

-What's wrong? Zero? –

[Scanning body…

Mana concentration dangerously low, pleas refrain from using mana.]

-Great, this diagnostic spell(?) is really something else. Not only does it train my focus, even my stamina, that is unusual at least for me, but also my personal mana, if I use world mana, I normally barely use any of my personal mana, sight. Time to use Charge. –

After a few minutes using Charge my breathing stabilized and Zero started to nag.

[Wrong circulation mana is depleting; stamina and focus are restoring.]

-Yep, I'm now by 27% that I can restore without depleting something else. Sight, it should do let's get started with teaching. –
