Chapter 8 - Off || 06

The bus finally came in what felt like an eternity and he felt a sense of relief as he hopped on the bus. But the man's eyes were in him, not glaring or anything. Simply slanted a bit because of his wide rimmed hat, that man wasn't an illusion.

Getting home felt better than usual as much as he never really got used to the high end life. At least he finally called this place home and felt at ease, instead of searching for the nearest weapon possible, exits or just plain and simple running and screaming.

"Welcome home Master Riku"

The same routine, he took off his uniform went for a shower and sat on the couch. He had brought the book with him but didn't want to read it, call it whatever, whether it was a lack of motivation, a sudden change of heart or boredom- he turned on the tv instead.

"We are reporting that another mass homicide has been discovered in district 2, with over 30 bodies maybe more still being processed and identified. We are reaching out to any families, friends or more- if you have a loved one missing please immediately contact the district police."

'More Murder…. I guess that means the old man will definitely not be coming tonight'

-

"Ah, Christ. Look at this, there's nothing humane about it, even some of the worst serial killer cases I've seen don't compare." Spoke a detective as Vonic had to agree, in the past there might have been one or two mass homicides in districts 5 or 4. But recently they were out stretching to 2 and 3, why was anyone's guess.

"Ah fucken hell-" his colleague spat as he looked up from a body. "They brought in those motherfuckers" Looking over his shoulder Vonic saw what his colleagues were staring at.

'Young, not even in their 30's yet, a special task force collective, The 'Minus'. A project that the district police were told from higher ups to let under specific circumstances interfere.' Vonic with his thoughts together got up from crouching over a body and walked over.

"You guys must be the Minus, my Name is-"

"Vonic Welton, yes I'm familiar with the name-" Came a voice to his right of the people he was just talking too before being interrupted. A man with a red coat and red oval shades, tight high boots strapped all the way up his thighs. His black collared shirt paired well with his dark brown hair.

"fucken faggot…" mumbled one of his colleagues to which Vonic disregarded. Seems they had caught up to him and were standing behind him now.

Smiling almost like he heard the remark he signalled to his team and without a word they got to work.

"My name is Oryan Milston" Milston, he was sure he'd heard that name before.

"There's no way you're related to Clive Milston of the million dollar enterprise of weapon making 'Ult'."

"Ding, Ding, right on the money. Thank you for your excellent investigation skills on that one~" Oryan teased his colleague making him blush out of embarrassment. Probably humiliation being played to him for his remark earlier. "It seems we will be working along side you with this case-" pulling out a brief case from his car he held it out to Vonic. "My boss wanted me to give this to you" looking at the briefcase he took it with caution.

"I look forward to working with you Mr Milston." Vonic said as Oryan smiled again, this time without sarcasm intertwined.

"Like wise"

-

'Should I just not sleep?' Waking up sucked for Riku yes- but waking up on the floor instead of the couch he must of dozed off on, was horrendous. Getting up in slight pain, his back cracked and popped, relieving tension.

'I need to take my medication' he thought as he walked heavily still not fully awake down the hallway towards his bedroom. Opening the door he went to his bag that was still on his bed, he hadn't bothered to unpack it as today was the start of the weekend.

'It's not here?' Waking up immediately from his half-awake like state he frantically searched his bag for the medication.

"Fuck- Fuck- Fuck" he didn't care if he ripped his bag apart at this rate as he searched every pocket or place the cylinder bottle could have been. Eventually all his books and more had been thrown around the room but still no medication.

'Did I drop it somewhere by accident?' Thinking back to the bus stop and the fact he hadn't really been paying attention he realised what he had done. 'I left them at the bus stop-'

"Ah Fucken hell!" Riku shouted as the AI in the house was alerted.

"Master Riku is everything alright? I was alerted to sudden stress, shall I call Vonic-"

"No!" 'God fucken dammit…' resting his arm on his face with his back against the edge of his bed he sat there in silence. 'Would it still be there?' Sure medication gets lost sometimes but for Riku that wasn't something he could afford to do. Because his medication was given to him on a three month renewal plan, he'd have enough pills to last that threshold. So he couldn't get a replacement even if he explained the situation as one the import came from district 1 and two he'd need to do another psychic analysis to ensure he was mentally fit to receive replacements.

His medication especially was highly sort out for so supply and demand was a major issue… he'd be lucky if they had one bottle of pills hanging around. That was his last one, supposed to last him till the end of this month but being without them for even a day was a risk.

Vonic could pull some strings but asking that man for anything was very hard for Riku as he felt he'd already caused enough issues for the man.

Getting up he didn't bother cleaning up, as he simply slipped on some shoes and headed out. He was still wearing his pyjamas but it was hardly noticeable as they were long black sweat pants and a white t-shirt. He'd grabbed a scarf just before heading out though as the seasonal weather was starting to set more into winter.

He didn't run but he wasn't slow either, those pills were his good graces. Without them sure he wasn't an instant mess but the dwindle to it was unnerving and extremely unsavoury.

His glasses fogged up as his breath was coming out like steam. He really did wish he didn't need these.

Pushing forward he'd taken a bus to the stop just a few blocks away from school. Getting off he instantly checked the surrounding area for them, but there was nothing.

"Shit"

What was he going to do now?

"You looking for these?"

Looking over his shoulder from his crouched position. The same man from yesterday looked at him with a slanted gaze but in his hands was his medication?

Now he was alert, no, not just alert but intensely fearful on the inside, he slowly got up and face him with a smile he hoped would hide the dreaded feelings that were welling up inside.

"Yeah, I accidentally left them here yesterday, I believe we talked briefly" 'Why is this guy even still here? Wouldn't it have made sense to hand them into the school yesterday? I was wearing a uniform and mentioned an assignment, not to mention-'

"Riku Spears, that's you yes?" '-My name is clearly on the bottle. Is he a stalker? Serial killer?' So many thoughts sped through his mind. He should definitely call the district police, something was off about him.

Stepping closer, Riku took a step back as he moved himself to an easier exit pathway then under the bus stop overhead shelter. 'He wasn't stupid, this man had waited for him.'

"This medication dulls one's senses, whether you suffer from over thinking, feelings that are too intense or something else. This drug is used to prevent that and help people through day to day… like normal…"

'This man… what the hell is wrong with him… I know that already, why's he telling me the medications use and results for?' Taking more steps back, the man would step forward keeping the same distance between them. He was fairly close that Riku could smell the cigarette stench from him.

At this time Riku has already dialled help on his wristband as he has left his phone at home. But technology allowed your phone to pair up with anything really, his wrist band was one of them.

But he knew it wouldn't be that simple as the man smiled sinisterly.

|| Run ||

Before he knew it, he was running down alleyways and through traffic nearly getting hit by vehicles and people alike. He ran like a man possessed as he felt like multiple eyes were staring at him.

Where was he?!

Did he even really want to know that?!

Dashing down an alleyway to his right between an abandoned building and wall he found himself at a dead end. The type of coincidences that happened in horror movies.

Fear prickled his skin as his glasses had long fallen off somewhere that he couldn't tell if the man was ahead of him when he turn around.

"You dropped something back there" 'Shit! He was there!' As that knowledge rang through his mind, the singular blur of black got bigger and bigger until he could finally just barely seen the man's outline.
