My path was set on the direction of the adventurer's guild, with a determined look in my eyes, "I am going to do this" is what I kept telling myself.
When I pushed its doors wide open, I was greeted by the sight of mercenaries brawling along, mages talking to each other and casting a few spells, and a giant fairy status, and I think it occupies roughly 1/3 the hall, but I was at a loss about what I should do next, so I approached a stranger while clearing my throat, saying:
-"Hello, I am here to apply for a beginner's license, Do you kn-"
-"I have no reason to answer you, BEGONE"
-"Old man!, I am just ask-"
Then I felt my throat closing on its own, and I started levitating in the air
-"How rude, do you have a deathwish, going around insulting a magician?!"
I was almost choking, then a Noble appeared from nowhere, while saying:
-"You are attacking a citizen of the kingdom of Adauwyn, Release him now, or face the consequences"
After what the noble said, I suddenly got dropped into the ground.
-"Hm, Maybe you should teach your citizens respect first, way less would die if you actually did that"
After saying that, the stranger left the hall.
-"Are you okay?" said the Noble
-"Uhh yeah, thanks for the help, I was just asking him about where to go, you see I am here to apply for the beginner's license"
-"oh what a coincidence!, I am actually in charge of the beginners, My name is Sir Jonathan"
-"Its a pleasure meeting you, my name is Akira, what do I need to do right now, in order to get the license?"
-"So Akira, do you know of the requirements?"
-"Yeah, And I think that I meet them all, I got the fee's money, and I am 17 Years old, and I already have the armor set and a sword"
-"Okay, follow me"
I kept walking after him through the crowds of people, until we reached a room with a training doll
-"Well, can you show me your sword?" he said
After what he said, I begun looking in my backpack for the sword, and eventually, I pulled the sword out of my backpack.
-"A Malachite sword, lightweight but effective, but this one perhaps, is a bit old, but it should be perfect for a beginner like you.
Well, can you show me what you have got?, I gotta make sure you know at least how to use a sword" he said, while pointing at the doll in the middle of the room
I went to the doll, holding my sword steady, while saying "alright, here it goes!".
I pulled off like 6 slashes before he told me to stop.
-"You seem to know how to use a sword, so I think you would be able to handle yourself pretty good!"
-"Okay, do I need to do anything else?" I said
-"You just need to pay the fees"
-"Okay, I have them right now, 300G, right?" I said, while handling him the money
-"Yeah, follow me" he said
We went to a far away room on the other side of the Adventurer's guild.
-"Now, wait here for a minute" he said, while opening a few boxes and searching for something inside them
And after a few minutes, he pulled something out of a box, and told me:
-"Okay here is your license"he said, while giving me a wierd circular stone
Its a grey stone, with a metalic feel, and around 3 blue stripes
-"Show this to the guards at the gate, and they will let you pass through the gate."
-"Its that simple?" I said
-"Yeah, go ahead, you are officially a Mercenary now, But a few things that you should know :-
First, everyone here in the guild is ranked, based on their contributions and achievements, you are currently on the "Novice Mercenary" rank, the first of them all.
Every rank comes with its own benefits and tools, to help you improve even further.
You only have 1 benefit for this rank sadly, follow me!" he said.
Then, we arrive at a large board
"This is the requests board, everyone hangs on here a few requests or bounties, and gives you rewards when you complete them, you can only accept the requests of the places available for you to travel, however.
If you are planning on Going outside soon, I would suggest you to accept a few from here, and that should be it, I will go now to check some other stuff, if you need anything, look for me around here"
-"Thank you Sir Jonathan, I will surely do!" I said, and he left.
I looked through the board, searching for a few requests, The board was split into a few sections, I looked for the section called "Adauwyn's Forests", and I wrote down a few "collect some herbs" and a few "collect some mushrooms" quests
But what caught my eyes was "Collect some Mythical Gemstones, found under the Hyrune stones" quests, these were specifically requested by Nobles, I know that the "Hyrune" stones are called that name, because of the herbs that grows on them, only grows on the areas with high magical energies concentrations, "well if its inside the forests, then it should be no problem" I said, while writing down that quest too
After I finished, I put the paper inside my journal, and put that journal inside my bag, and went on my way back home
"Tomorrow will be my first step, toward exploring the outer world" I kept telling my self, on the way home, in the night.
