Jared rolls the ball to little david and david giggles and claps his little hands. Molly was off at therapy. David sticks the ball in his mouth and looks at jared and holds his free hand up so jared would pick him up as the timer for the cake goes off. Today is david's first birthday. Jared scoops up david as he makes his way to the kitchen to pull the cake out. Jared sets david in his high chair then goes to get the oven mits as he walks to the oven and opens it. "Well baby david guess what? Your cake came out perfect!" Jared brings it to the island in the center of the kitchen near davids high chair but out of reach so he won't burn himself. "Ahh! .ca..kiee..." David says pointing and giggling and bouncing in his high chair.
Jared smiles and nods "yes baby,cake. Now...do we want blue or green icing love?" David chews on his fingers in thought "bleuw! Bleuw!" David points at the tubes of blue icing jared has next to him. "Ah. You love daddys blue icing don't you. I made it from sweet blue raspberries." Jared sets the icing by the cake and pulls out the homemade vanilla icing and places it there as well as he puts the spaghetti to cook. He winks at baby david as he puts the sauce to simmer.
David watches his dad as he starts to butter the french bread with garlic butter and sticks it in the oven and starts a fifteen minute timer and stir the sauce. "Daddy....mommy home now?" Jared looks back at David and shakes his head. "Mommy should be home by the time the timer goes off for the bread." David looks down sad after nodding at his dad and eats a few Cheerios on his high chair table and giggles as he looks at his feet.
Jared sits down after washing his hands and drying them on his apron. Jared watches David eat and play with his ball as he thinks ' Davids only one and she wants a divorce. Does five years mean nothing to her. Maybe if i give her a divorce she will pretend to still be with me until davids old enough to have it explained to him? I'll ask her later. Or maybe i can talk her into rethinking this until after she's out of her depression. I've been nothing but considerate.' Jared sits there after giving david his sippy cup of juice. Jared sits there remembering all the stuff he's done for molly this past year. He let her go to work instead, he took full care of the baby, he only asked her to pump her breast so david could have at least breast milk as he grew up.
"DADDY!" David throws cheerios at his dad to get his attention. Jared shakes his head and smiles at David. "What is it big boy?" David points to the floor "Cuppy!" Jared looks down and sees that David dropped his sippy cup. Jared bends over in his seat to pick up the cup. Then he goes to the sink to rinse it in hot water before handing the sippy cup back. "Next time David don't drop it okay? The floor hasn't been mopped today. " David nods happily as he goes back to sipping from his cup.
Molly lets herself in to the smell of homemade spaghetti and garlic bread. She loves this meal." Jared? Baby David. Im home!" Jared walks into the living room after he pulls the garlic bread out the oven and grabs David and puts him on his feet and lets him run off to greet his mommy.
Jared leans against the doorway between the kitchen and the living room as he watches david and molly hug and smile at each other. "So, how was work? Are you hungry molly?" Jared asks her softly slightly sad. Molly looks at jared and walks over to him guilty and kisses his cheek as she thinks. 'Damn. I know i've done him wrong. He's been by me through thick and thin. And i dropped the i want a divorce card on him. He's paying for my therapy and he actually loves me.' Molly smiles and nods "Dinner smells wonderful. I also have good news for after we put david to bed." Molly strokes davids back as she carries him folling jared to the kitchen.
Jared watches molly put david in his high chair and start to serve the plates and put them on the table. Jared starts to ice the cake after he puts it on the cake tray. David watches his mommy walk around with his favorite blue plate. Then he looks over at his daddy as he draws cookie monster on the cake. Molly pushes davids high chair over to the table so he's between her and jared.
Jared places the cake on the table with a lighter and a one candle. And sodas and juice. He waits until molly sits down and he pushes her chair in then sits down in his own. Molly eats silently as jared chatters about stuff he watched on netflix today and what he taught David to say and do. David eats messily but he manages not to drop anything on the floor. Or get it in his hair just his mouth and his cheeks.
Once they finish molly takes david off to clean up and change his bibs. Jared clears the table and puts the leftovers away and puts the dishes to wash in the dishwasher. He grabs the video camera and sets it up as he lights the candle as molly bring david back and sets him in his high chair. They start to sing David happy birthday and he giggles clapping and bouncing. Once they finish singing david makes a wish and blows out the candle and claps.
Jared cuts them slices of the strawberry cake and gives david his first. He eats half of it before molly finishes her and goes for a second slice. Jared notices that david is starting to fall asleep. So he gets him a sippy cup of water and takes him to clean him up for bed. And puts him down after changing him.
Jared comes back to see that molly cleaned up everything and had a cup of soda as she at on the couch waiting for him. "So..jared..i've decided.. I don't want a divorce. You've been nothing but nice to me..you actually care for me. Im sorry ive put you through hell." Jared sits nexts to molly and hugs her. "Molls. Love. Its okay. Let's go to go bed. We have a packed weekend. David wants to go swimming and go to the zoo." Molly kisses jared amd they walk off to bed hand in hand.
