Yaya's POV
Walking down the cemented side walk, I look carefully around. This neighborhood really is a good place to relax. There's even a park and schools are nearby. Since I brought these college books as a cover today, I should flip through them to familiarize myself with the level of knowledge a freshman in college should have. If I show any abnormality, a seed of suspicion will sprout. Or people might think I am abnormal, which I am but that's obviously a secret.
Just as I was thinking this and heading towards the park, a dog's bark came from behind me. Just as I turned around, a force crashed into me, knocking me down onto the grass. Normally, I wouldn't fall by such weak strength, but I am now a normal human female so I have to restrain my strength unless I encounter a dangerous situation.
"Shelby! No! Get back here!"
A low male voice shouted from above me and suddenly, the weight on top of me was gone. Two shadows appeared above me-one big, one small. A male and a small child.
"Are you okay? I'm so sorry. Shelby usually never attacks strangers like that. I'll pay for any injuries you have."
A big hand reached out to help me up. When I touched it, there was a spark of electricity that flared up through me. This hand was warm and strong, familiar yet strange. When I look up to the owner of the hand, I saw a very handsome man also staring at me with a pair of gray eyes.
"I'm alright. No injuries."
After sitting up, a tap on my shoulder made me turn to the little girl. She looks like an angel, smiling so sweetly like that. However the next thing she does shocks me a little.
She speaks to me in human sign language that only Aza and I learned fully-fortunately. The others only learned enough to understand.
'Are you an angel?'
I sign back to her that I'm not but she surely must be one because she has the sweetest smile.
'Thank you.'
'You're welcome. What is your name?'
'My name is Hope. What about you?'
'My name is Yaya. Nice to meet you, Hope.'
She smiles widely at me and asks me if I want to play with her. I sign back to her that we have to ask her father first.
It's only after standing that I realize how tall the man is.
"Would that be okay with you?"
"What's your name?"
Wow his voice is so deep. It's soothing.
"Oh! I completely forgot about that! I'm so sorry. My name is Helenya. Just call me Yaya. I'm a freshman at Lunar University and just moved here with my sisters. We live up on that white and blue house. I promise I'm not a bad or suspicious person!"
I really should've introduced myself before anything else. The people here are weary of strangers. Contrary to my belief, he started chuckling instead of looking at me with distrust. Wow his chuckle is so sexy.
"I'm only asking for your name, not your whole background. No need to panic."
"Oh."
I blushed a little, feeling silly. Of course not all people would be overly suspicious. How could I forget that? We also met good and honest people too. After thinking this, I realized I haven't asked for his name yet.
"Right. What's your name?"
"I'm Garrick. Garrick Anderson. Nice to meet you Yaya."
"Nice to meet you, too, Garrick. So, can I?"
"Can you what?"
"Play with Hope, of course. She's so adorable. And, probably not the best thing to say since we're newly acquainted and all but I really want to bundle her up and take her home."
He-thankfully-laughs at my words instead of running off. Once he says yes, Hope and I, along with Shelby, the very energetic dog ran off, leaving my books with Garrick. And so, for the next few hours, I play with Hope and Shelby-Garrick sometimes joined in.
