Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 A Boasting Ball

Lilium and Rosa stayed in my room explaining their plan to leave the Forbidden Plains and live with humans as adventurers. I barely knew them, and they wanted me to jump on without thinking about it felt like trouble. They drank their tea and smiled and laughed at the thought of being free and living on their own. I remembered my father said that demons used to live there along with them and trade goods, but it changed after the war. Humans started to call us devils and were given a reason to compare us to them over the years. I never thought about hiding with them and helping them over the years as a form of asking for forgiveness.
"Well Amare," Rosa spoke, "will you join us on this venture?"
"I would have to think about it," I sighed as I did not know the answer now. Leaving here was difficult, but it was not impossible as I have gotten close as a kid.
"We'll let you think about it," Lilium spoke with a soft smile as they took their stuff and left for their rooms. There was finally silence, but I also enjoyed the company as I had never gotten to talk like that for a long time. Tomorrow was a ball and I had to come as it was my duty as the daughter of the Greed region. The night was slowly starting to end as the redness of the sky was beginning to rise, but I knew I was not going to get much sleep. Laying down on my bed was nice as my body let go and rest for a while. Soon as my eyes close the sounds of my door knocking again rang in my ear. I did not want to get up till the door opened and I peeked to see who it was.
It was one of the maids holding a box and I knew it was time, but I was not wearing a dress to the gathering. I have gotten up and looked at her and she knew to turn back with the box in hand. Father was still going to push me to wear it even if I did not want to. My armor sat on a stand as it was freshly clean and the same with my sword. Put on basic clothes for my armor to be placed on. My sword was on my hip and a cap of white ran down as I walked towards the stairs. All I did not have was my helmet as I walked into the gathering as noblemen and women looked at me with shock. I looked like a noble knight as sat in the corner to wait for what would happen. Many of the sons and daughters of the seven sin regions were here as I looked over to see my father.
He was boasting about my recent battle, and it bothered me as he made it sound like I was a boy than a girl. It did not take long for Lilium and Rosa came over with a big smile as the ball went on. They were asking if I made up my mind as people danced and talked over the short amount of peace. The feeling of dread washed over me as my father walked over to me with a frown on his face. To him, this was when he needed a noble daughter and not a general.
"What are you wearing!" he muttered under his voice.
"My armor as I am not a noble lady," I replied as Lilium and Rosa looked at me confused about what was going on. "You said I could wear my armor instead of a dress."
"I did not…" he started to speak.
"You know you did father," I sighed, "I rather not be here in the first place."
"Would you rather be in another war!" he snapped.
"I would rather you give me a break after fighting the days before!" I yelled as I walked away towards the courtyard. He was going to say something about me getting married or putting me into the whore house, but I did not care. I knew that they followed me as well as their footsteps kept up with mine.
"I'll leave with you!" I said loud enough for them to hear.
"Good to hear that!" Rosa spoke happily.
"When do we leave?" I questioned as they looked at me with a smile.
"In three days," Lilium replied, "The angel's spell gets weak during that time."
"I thought their magic was stronger than ours?" I questioned.
"It's a blood moon that weakens it," Lilium spoke, "all magic gets weak, but our powers seems to gain."
"Where do we meet?" I asked as they looked at me with a smile.
"Your region is the closest to the gate and your father does not know about the blood moon." she answered again, "when you do leave, bring gold as it used up there as well."
"I'll travel light," I replied as I walked away to my room. Freedom was there and I never thought it would happen. I get to see the blue sky for the first time and the same with grass and trees. I have always read about them in books and the same with other places like the High Heavens and their golden cities. I wanted to see it all, but my heritage as a demon would stop us from being there. We would be hunted down when they learn that we are there in the first place. I was willing to fight to survive this place and live a comfortable life and maybe make friends along the way.
