Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Above Ground

Days past as I waited for the blood moon to come. I slowly stole gold from the Treasury and packed it with clothes and rations. Father seemed to more on edge as he sent noble young demons to my room to try to romance me. Most of them feared me as a hole in the door formed over time as I threw my sword at them. Most have left, but one form the pride region kept bothering me. Lilium and Rosa talk with me about future plans as we make it to the surface. The feeling of freedom filled my heart as I held my pen.

The door opened as my father and the noble brat of Pride came in with a smile. I knew that something was up as father smiled. A box was soon placed on my desk. It was a necklace and ring, but I was not impressed or interested in his ways of courtship. To me the Pride region only care about their own pride when rejection is shown.

"What brings you here Father?" I questioned as I signed off on a training regiment. I could tell that he had something to tell me, but soon I would be away from this place.

"It seems that someone does wants you as a whore." My Father replied as I rolled me eyes.

"I rather die that be with that man." I answered. Father wanted me to marry son of Pride, Lord Ignavous, as to him I was prize whore. Female demons where always sold of for marriage as one male demon can have many brides at once. I remember father telling me that he had at least ten wives before killing each one over time. My own mother was killed by his hands as well. I never gotten to meet her as she was only a tool for him.

"Doesn't matter." he spoke with cold and dark tone. "You'll be married tommrrow at dawn "

I watch them smile as Ignavus laugh as he dropped a rotten rose on my desk. It didn't matter as I was going to be gone with Lilium and Rosa tonight. My name will not be bound to him by name or blood. He stood there waiting for me to speak. I hated the feeling of being a pawn of marriage.

"You shouldn't have ignored my attempts to court you," he spoke. I hated the way he looked with curled horns and cold grey eyes. I knew his family would pay to get what they want.

"I rather be dead than be with you." I replied to Ignavus as I kicked out both out of my office. I didn't know if a letter would show, but tonight I was leaving this place and heading for the Cave of Dreading. It was the last place where my people fought and fail to stay above ground. I always wanted to see the blue sky and feel light on my skin. I soon packed the last things in my knapsacks, before grabbing it and my sword.

I wore a hood as I walked out of my office. I looked and wondered if I could have saved this place or to come back and try. The feeling swaded my heart as I quickly walked towards the castle entrance. The stone halls had voices of the wind and sounds of people celebrating with my father. From hallways and stairs I watch people and gaurds drink and partying like world would never end. Both men and women dragged each other to rooms for personal enjoyment. I saw that Rosa and Lilium drink and talking to some of the noblemen and women. They seemed to notice that the door opened and closed as I looked up at the dark red sky. The feeling of water falling made it feel solum and coming of dread.

I soon walked out with a smile as no one seemed to know that I was gone. I left no note or letter of goodbye, but a knife through a rotten rose. The homes outside of the kingdom was quiet as I walked to a stable to buy grimwalk, a lizard like horse that wonders the Forbidden Plains. I didn't care if the color or side, just that it could take me miles away from here.

"What can I do for you?" A man spoke with weary voice.

"Grimwalk," I replied.

" Of course," he answered, " the cheapest one we have is one gold."

"I'll take it," I replied as I threw a coin towards him. "I'll be leaving as soon it is ready."

"If course." he replied as he ran to ready the Grimwalk. I look to see many of them in colors of brown to a bright blue. Many watched you carefully as they don't trust anyone at once. I watched as a dark green with small wings was taken out to me. Not many has wings as most climbed against walls. He was beautiful as he watched with a confidence in his eyes. I soon touch his scales across his neck, before hoping on.

"There are some feed in the saddle," the man replied, "be careful. I know when someone is running and it never ends well for many."

" I know," I replied, " but there is nothing for me here now."

"I wish you well on you journey," the man spoke as I lightly kick. The feeling of the wind flying pass me as the city became fields and soon forest. By now someone must have knew that I have left and were searching for me. The sights of animals wondering the area made me happy. The twisted trees held blacken and green leaves. The cave was close, but I had to wait for Lilium and Rosa.

The feeling of magic soon weaked as the blood moon came closer. I sat near the trees as I watched for any signs of them. I bearly knew them, but they helped me a lot in a short amount of time. The sounds of Grimwalks came closer as I watched two figures stood near the cave. They seemed frantic as I walked over with a grimwalk on a lead. Lilium and Rosa saw me and smile, but faded as an arrow shot towards us. It spooked the Grimwalks as I jumps onto mine.

"Seems that you were followed," I yelled.

" Fuck," Rosa spoke, " I thought we were careful."

"How far in the cave do we have to ride," I asked Lilium.

"A thirty minute ride in and we should be our " Lilium answered as she turn and rode into the cave. The sounds of the hooves following us as arrows shot towards us. The feeling of fear closed my heart, but I could not let this chance slip through our fingers. The cave was dark as all we could hear was the echo of hooves. We soon gotten closer to the exit, but the stone bridge across was destroyed.

"What now!" Rosa screamed as fear ran a crossed her face. I tried to think as remembered the wing on my grimwalker. I looked at them as I slowly breathed in and out.

"Hop on!" I yelled.

"Are you crazy!" Rosa replied as Lilium grabbed a hold of her as tossed her behind me. She soon landed behind her as she hoped that this would work. I turned the Grimwalk as I ran towards the firing of arrows. I saw that my father and Ignavus riding towards us as I turned around running for the gate. The broken bridge came closer to view. Our hearts beat as the hooves of the Grimwalker leaped into the air. His wings spread as we made it past the middle of the broken bridge. Soon a sharp feeling in shoulder rang across my body as we made it across. I knew this feeling as blood ran down my chest as an arrow pierced my shoulder. We didn't stop as we gotten closer to the exit of the cave. The magic of angel's seal broke as we made it across. We saw the sky with with stars and reddish orange moon shine in front of us. I watched as I saw Lilium and Rosa hoped of the Grimwalker to feel the grass under their feet.

"I never throught it was possible to left the Forbidden Plains." Lilium spoke with a smile on her face.

"We made it." Rosa laughed as she fell to the ground. I finally hopped off and sat in the ground to break and rip the arrow out of my shoulder. They didn't seem to notice till the sounds of me ripping my cloak to make bandages. The feeling of pain seemed to lessen, but a numbing feeling soon took over after a while. I realized it was a numbing poison to keep me from moving for a while. Not many poison effected me, but would cause me to sleep for a couple of hours. At this moment I know we had to keep moving till we find shelter for the night. Both Lilium and Rosa were worried as I climbed back into the Grimwalker.

" We should get out of here," I winced in pain as they walk along side. The place was covered in trees and felt peaceful. We finally made as I closed my eye to rest for a while.
