I started my first day of school 2 days after we moved. I hated it. It was nothing like my school in London, but to be fair, this is a public school.
I started in the library that morning. Its funny, in the library, not only there were very few books (especially for a school library) but most of them were yearbooks.
I grabbed the one from this past year and sat down at a table with it. I flipped through it. I found Sunshine Enrald. She had a twin sister named Scarlet. But I rescanned the page, and found a kid that looked particularly interesting. "Jasper Chavez." I whispered to myself.
I flipped through the pages. I found "Tanna" Who's name was actually Cassandra Hayne. She probably went by Cassie or something like that just from the name that she gave me. Then I found the boy who ran into me, which was Greyson Taylor. On the opposite side of the page, Donatello Palm aka Donnie, was there.
I flipped back through the pages of his year. He found some other interesting looking people. Kaira Grey, who looked scary, but had a nice name. Brandon Holt, he had cool looking curly hair. It was short, but still nice. And then Samantha Rendoz. I didn't know why, but her name stuck out.
I was going to keep looking, but the morning bell rang. I put the yearbook back, and went to my homeroom (weird) and sat down next to some random person.
After 20 minutes, I went to his next class. And so on. Until the day was over. I was going to go back to the library to see what else was there, but I was seen by one Cassandra Hayne and she and 2 boys walked over to me. "Hello." She smiled.
"Hello Tanna." I told her purposefully.
The two boys looked confused.
"This is Greyson and Donnie." She told me.
"Okay, Tanna," Greyson said weirdly, "we have to go now."
"By that," I felt like saying something, "I want to say that your name is not Tanna, or else your friends are just weird in general, but from the name you gave me, I want to say that your name still has an a and a double repeat letter. maybe even a c. Cattie? No wait we're not in the UK. Cassie?"
Out of the three of them, I wanna say that Greyson seemed the most impressed. Cassie smiled. "Interesting." She said.
"No, it's really not. I saw in the yearbook this morning. Oliver." I said.
I walked away, and I didn't feel like talking to anyone anymore. I intended to go to the library, but I just walked home. I was tired. "Hello." A voice said from behind me.
I turned around and there was Sunshine Enrald. "Hi." I told her, then I remembered about her bracelet.
I dug in my pocket, and pulled the bracelet out. "You dropped this when you ran into at the library." I handed her the bracelet.
"Thank you." She smiled, but it looked like a sad smile.
"Are you all right?" I asked her.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It just reminded me of something…" Her voice trailed off as if her mind was elsewhere.
I was going to comfort her, but I saw a group of 4 kids who looked like they were sneaking away. "Do you want to do something with me?" I realized that what I said sounded wrong. "I mean-" I became flustered.
"What is it?" Sunshine said.
"Just… um… follow someone?" I couldn't find a better way to explain it.
"Who?" Sunshine thought it was sketchy.
"Are you seriously asking me that? I moved here 2 days ago. Like I know who it is… Just, come on." I started walking away, following the four kids, and surprisingly Sunshine followed me.
We walked around the corner, and saw them heading to a parked car. "What are they doing…" I mumbled.
I walked behind them, keeping distance. "Maybe we shouldn't follow those people." Sunshine suggested.
"Why not? They're obviously up to something. I want you to help me figure it out." I told her.
She didn't seem too open to the idea. "Sunshine, I know you just met me, but this town is weird. I've been here for only a couple days, and I've noticed it. You've been living here. How have you not?" I asked her.
She seemed to be hiding something to me but she obviously didn't want to say anything about the subject. "Fine, if you don't want to help me, I get it. But, I want to find out what's going on. Just… don't try and stop me." I got up from where I was hiding.
"I-i-" She didn't know what to say. I didn't want to bother her anymore so I left.
I saw her still standing there out of the corner of my eye as I turned the corner. I didn't know what to do, so I decided to head home and finish unpacking some stuff.
I got to my house, and no one was home. "Awesome." I said to myself.
I didn't want to just wait there in the heat, so I decided to go to the library. I went to the fantasy section and grabbed my favorite book, The Giver. I opened to chapter 2 and continued to read from there.
Before I knew it, I was half way done with the book, and I had already been there for 2 hours. I out the book back and headed home. By then, my parents were home. I went to my room, and finished unpacking some things.
I was putting some stuff on a desk in my room, which was in front of the window in my room, and I saw something weird. I could see someone passing by, but they had appeared from nowhere. I grabbed my camera and took a picture of them. The person walked around the corner, and disappeared. I looked at the photo, but it was all black. For some reason, the picture wouldn't load.
I sighed, and put my camera back down on my desk, and turned the light off. I went to sleep because I was exhausted.
I woke up in the morning and got ready for school. I grabbed my camera and headed out of the room. I grabbed a piece of bread and my backpack, said bye to my parents and started walking to school. I took pictures of anyone that I found suspicious.
I was looking at the pictures and someone stopped in front of me. I looked up. It was Sunshine. "Hello." She was looking at the camera.
"Can I take a picture of you?" I tried not to sound creepy.
"Uh, sure." Sunshine smiled.
I lifted my camera up and took a picture of her. "What's the picture for." Sunshine asked.
"A project that my parents wanted me to do. They're weird." I lied.
"Oh nice." Sunshine seemed somewhat uninterested.
I continued to walk and examined the picture. I needed to go to the library and print it. My plan was in motion.
