Chapter 15 - Chapter 4 [Caught #4]

It was a dog. And it was huge. A girl was standing next to it. "Sorry, my dog doesn't like new people. This is Donald." The girl said.

"Uh uh." Was all Greyson managed to say.

Donnie, being the not straight boy that he was, asked, "What is your name?"

"My name is Rea" She said.

The girl was stunning. Even the very unemotional looking Greyson could see that. He got distracted. Donnie figured there was something wrong.

On her wrist was a bracelet. Donnie thought of it. This was obviously for an object of time. Cassie had already gotten the chain, which took the form of a necklace. So the other 2 were the ring and the pendant.

In some cultures, rings are thought of to be anywhere from an actual ring to a bracelet. He learned that in history class. "What's that on your wrist?" Donnie asked, sweetly.

"A bracelet. Someone gave it to me a… while ago to protect it. It kind of like a promise ring." Rea said.

"A promise ring?" Donnie knew it was the ring of the past.

"Yes." She seemed to get upset that he was asking about it.

"You don't plan on taking it from me, do you? That's so mean." She got bent out of shape.

"No, I just-" Donnie didn't know what to say.

And Greyson wasn't being much help. "Hey, Greyson, your friend wants to take this from me. Your not going to let him are you?" She was upset.

"We didn't tell you our names." Donnie said.

Rea smirked. "Right. You don't love me. Why don't you love me? Do you hate me?" She started to show her true colors.

She was intimidating. She was obviously using magic, and it was strong. She glared at Donnie. "I just need to borrow your lovely bracelet. Both of us need to borrow it." Donnie added.

"Both of you? And you'll give it back?" Rea calmed down a little.

"Yes, of course."

"And how long will you be borrowing it? 1 minute? 1 second?" Rea asked.

"Maybe like… 3600 seconds?" Donnie said.

"That's a lot. I'm not giving to you for that long." Rea said.

"How about 60 minutes?" Donnie said.

"Well, 60 is less than 3600…. But that's still a long time." Rea pouted.

"How about 1 hour." Donnie said.

"Oh! 1 is a lot less than 60 and 3600! Yes u will give it to you for 1 hour." Rea said, clearly not realizing that all three times were all the exact same amount of time.

"Okay, well can I have it?" Donnie asked.

Rea laughed. "You didn't specifically say when I had to give it to you! No, you cannot have it." Donnie thought he had gotten far, but he was back at square one.

"Greyson, I need your help." Donnie said, but he was still not helping. Or doing anything.

"Greyson-" Donnie grabbed his shoulder.

"DON'T TOUCH HIM!" Rea said, and pushed Donnie away.

Her skin burned. When Donnie had touched Greyson he had snapped out of his trance for second. "How about," Donnie tried to reason with Rea. "If I can touch Greyson as long as 60 seconds, with you touching me, you let me have to bracelet. To keep. And you let us go home." Donnie specified.

"But if I can't hold on for 60 seconds, then you can have the bracelet and Greyson." Donnie continued.

"For 60 seconds… well, 60 seconds seems greater than 1 hour, so deal." Rea said.

Donnie touched Greyson's shoulders, and he snapped out of his trance. "Why are you touching me-" He managed to say, before Donnie cut him off.

"The deal was that if I can touch you for 60 seconds while getting burned, then we can have Rea's bracelet, and we can leave. If I can't, then she is going to kill me, keep you and her bracelet. You are going to count for 60 seconds out loud." Donnie said loudly so that Rea could hear.

"And what's special about her bracelet?" Greyson asked quietly.

"It's the next object. Unless I'm wrong and I'm getting burned for no reason." Donnie said enthusiastically, then said loudly, "Okay, Greyson, are you ready?"

"Yes." Greyson said loudly too.

"Okay, Greyson start counting when Rea touches me." Donnie said.

Rea touched Donnie, and he made a small scream. Greyson started counting. Around 40 seconds, Donnie was about to give up, but he held on, telling himself, "Just a little longer." He repeated it in him head.

Greyson got to 60, and pulled Donnie away from Rea. "It was already 60 seconds?" Rea said.

"Yes." Greyson held his hand out. "Now honor your deal."

Rea grudgingly put her bracelet into Greyson's hand. Donnie couldn't walk, or think. As soon as the bracelet hit Greyson's hand both of them glowed yellow and disappeared from the Midwestern hell hole.

Cassie saw the yellow glow show up before the boys did. When the glow went away, she saw Donnie on the floor, about to pass out in Greyson's arms.

"Oh my…. What happened?" Cassie ran over, and saw Donnie's shoulders.

"Call 911." Greyson said.

Cassie pulled out her phone and the police. A few minutes later, an ambulance arrived and took Donnie to the hospital.
