The next day at work, Chang Wook was exhausted, he couldn't stop thinking about what Ha Eun told him the night before. He had so many questions like, what happened to Bong Soo? And especially, why did Woo Yeon do that to her when they were kids?
Chang Wook finds it obvious that Woo Yeon likes Ha Eun, but what would drive him to try and kill her if he liked her so much? He didn't want to question Ha Eun's memory, but it just didn't make sense to him. Although he didn't want to talk with Woo Yeon, he at least wanted to know his side of the story.
That morning when they headed out to work Ha Eun didn't talk to him at all, which worried him even more.
He suddenly received a text message from one of his University friends that were reminding him of the reunion tonight.
Chang Wook groaned in frustration. He had completely forgotten. He also thought it wasn't a good idea to go to it, since last night, Ha Eun had just told him her whole backstory. He doesn't think it's such a good idea to leave someone in such a delicate state.
He asked his friend if anyone canceled, but his friend saw right through him.
"You are not canceling. Everyone is meeting tonight, and you are going too, whether you like it or not"
Chang Wook sighed and decided to call Ha Eun's office. When she answered he was shocked by the tone in her voice. During work hours she sounds cold, but he could hear the sadness in her voice.
"Hello, Miss Lee" he said. Ha Eun was surprised by this.
"Chang Wook? Why are you calling me during work hours?" she asked him.
"Wow, I call my wife to ask her out on a date and she treats me coldly asking why I'm calling her"
Ha Eun was surprised once again "What?"
"You heard me" he said, "Want to go on a date with me?"
Ha Eun blushed at his question. She knew she shouldn't be; they're married so being asked out on a date isn't such a big deal but something about being asked out on a date made her heart flutter.
"Sure" she answered.
"Alright, I'll pick you up in 10 minutes" he said. Ha Eun didn't understand where he was going with this.
"10 minutes?" she asked.
"Yep. We are going to play hooky" he said.
"What? No. We can't skip work" she answered "I have a lot of paperwork to do and calls to answer"
"The paperwork can wait and whoever calls you can just leave you a message" he said "The only problem is the Bosswoman. If we're careful, I'm sure she won't notice we left"
Ha Eun scoffed on the other end of the phone call "Wow. Telling your boss, you're planning on skipping work is quite daring of you. You're lucky she's not firing you"
"I'm not telling my bossβ¦I'm telling my wife" he answered. Chang Wook quickly felt cheesy for saying that. Ha Eun on the other hand, felt touched and blushed.
"Fine" Ha Eun said.
"See you later" he said and hung up. He went to Hong Joo and told her that if anyone asks, he left work because he got sick.
"Are you alright?" Hong Joo asked worriedly.
Chang Wook grinned at her and placed his finger over his lips. Hong Joo finally understood that he was going to play hooky. Most likely with Ha Eun. When he was gone, Hong Joo thought it would be nice to have him as a boyfriend. He shows how much he cares about a person. That's exactly what she wants in a relationship.
She hit herself on the face, with both her hands "Stop thinking weird things Hong Joo. He's your boss" she said to herself.
β¦
Chang Wook decided to take Ha Eun to a park. Although it was still in the city, it was far away from the company. He thought she needed some fresh air, and the calmness of the park would be good for her.
There was a food stall, so he ordered some food for them. They sat down on a bench and as they ate, they talked and laughed. Talking about his family, then about her's, only the moments they shared together. They even talked about when he was her assistant and people she worked with that both of them hated.
As they continued to walk, they saw parents and their children with balloons. They saw street performers and couples would get together and dance to the music.
Chang Wook pointed at them with a smile. Ha Eun widened her eyes and shook her head "I am not dancing in front of all these strangers" she told him.
"You danced on your wedding, in front of complete strangers. What's the difference?" Chang Wook asked her. She couldn't deny that he had a point and she didn't know how to counter his argument, but she still didn't want to dance.
She quickly picked her up princess style and took her to the crowd where he made her dance with him. People laughed, noticing how she didn't want to dance but her partner wanted to dance with her. She started dancing with him and other couples joined in. Ha Eun was embarrassed but it was fun.
Just like in their wedding, he picked her up like a princess and spun around. That received a lot of applause from the spectators.
Ha Eun thought that was enough so she bowed her head, took Chang Wook's hand and they continued to walk around the park.
"That was so embarrassing," she said as she placed her hand over her face. She wondered why her other hand was feeling sweaty, then she realized she was holding hands with Chang Wook.
She quickly let go of his hand "Sorry" she said. Chang Wook grinned. He took her hand back and intertwined his fingers with her's.
