When night came Ha Eun stayed at home while Chang Wook was on his way to his reunion.
"See you later?" he told her. Ha Eun nodded with a smile. He went to the door but he stopped "I forgot something" he said.
Before Ha Eun could react, Chang Wook was in front of her and placed a kiss on her forehead. Her heart almost sprang out of her chest. For a second she thought he was going to give her a passionate kiss like last time. Which just made her yearn for one.
Chang Wook noticed Ha Eun's red cheeks "Were you expecting something else?" he asked her, teasingly. Ha Eun, flustered, pushed him out the door.
She closed the door and yelled "Don't come back!"
Chang Wook chuckled. Whenever she gets flustered she does the most dramatic things.
"See you later. Okay?" he asked through the door.
It took a few seconds but Ha Eun answered "Okay" which made Chang Wook smile.
Ha Eun stood by the entrance and looked around. There was no noise. It was just her. It has been just her for a long time and she remembered how she never really minded being alone and enjoyed the quiet, but now, she wondered if it was always this quiet and if being alone always felt this empty.
…
Chang Wook arrived at the restaurant bar. He was walked over to a long table. All of his classmates were already there. He felt a bit embarrassed for being the last to arrive, but everyone greeted him with open arms.
"Chang Wook!" they yelled, which surprised some of the other customers.
As they all sat down, they reminisced about the old days when they were still in University. They then moved up to the subject of how their lives are going so far. A few of them were already married, others got promoted in their jobs while others were just getting by.
One of his classmates that was sitting a seat away from him said "But Chang Wook must have it easy" with a hint of sarcasm. Everyone got quiet.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Chang Wook asked, with a chuckle.
"Hey. You don't need to get all defensive. I'm just saying" the guy laughed, raising his hands, then he took another sip of his drink. He looked drunk, but still sober enough to laugh and talk.
"Saying what?" Chang Wook asked.
The girl that sat between them and hit the guy with her elbow "You're ruining the mood" she placed in front of him a cup of water "Have some water." Everyone tried to continue talking about the old days at University, but the drunk classmate spoke up again.
"I'm just saying that Chang Wook doesn't have to work as hard as the rest of us. That's all" he said.
Everyone quieted down. They looked from the classmate to Chang Wook.
"Stop it" she whispered to him.
"And what's that supposed to mean?" Chang Wook asked him.
Some of the classmates were looking at the drunk guy and shook the heads or made gestures for him to stop talking.
"Chang Wook, you don't need to get so serious. We're all just having casual conversations"
Chang Wook noticed how everyone on the table was feeling a bit awkward. He didn't want to be the guy to ruin the atmosphere just because he got upset with one a drunk guy. People don't think straight when they are drunk, so he decided to change the subject.
He looked to one of his classmates and asked him what his job consisted of.
"Hey, Chang Wook" the drunk classmate interrupted the other classmate "Now that we're talking about jobs. Do you think you can you hook me up with one at your company?" he asked him.
"Hey. Stop that" one of the guys told him.
"It's not my company. I just work there" Chang Wook told him.
"But you're married to the CEO, so the company is basically yours"
One of the ladies quickly intervened "That's right! I forgot that Chang Wook got married recently. Congratulations" she said and raised a glass towards him. Other classmates did so as well.
"The honeymoon phase is great but you better get ready for when life hits" one of the guys said. Others chuckled.
"Yeah. You didn't just marry anyone. You married Lee Ha Eun" the drunk classmate interrupted once again.
"Hey, Chang Wook" he said. Chang Wook smiled at him. He wondered what he was going to ask this time "When did you start sleeping with her?" he asked. One of the guys chocked on his drink but no one dared to interrupt "You must have really been giving it to her good for her to marry you"
Before Chang Wook realized it he was on the floor, on top of his classmate, beating him up, but the drunk classmate managed to turn the tables and was hitting back.
Everyone from the table got up and some of the guys got between them and stopped the fight. A few holding back the drunk guy, while the other's held onto Chang Wook.
"What the hell's wrong with you?" the drunk guy asked him "We're all thinking it Chang Wook. I'm just the only one brave enough to ask"
Chang Wook thought that the subject of him sleeping his way into a new position was over, but it seemed that although people might not be talking about it over social media didn't mean that some people weren't still thinking about it. Especially people that know him.
"I'm good. You can let go now" Chang Wook told the guys, holding him. They trusted him and let him go. The other's holding the drunk guy also let him go.
"Can we all get back to having a reunion?" the guy that stood between them asked. Everyone nodded. As everyone started to sit back down. The drunk guy brushed his hand over his mouth and saw blood.
He scoffed and asked Chang Wook "So, what's Ha Eun's favorite position?"
Chang Wook got furious and started to hit his drunk classmate relentlessly, but his classmate once again changed the tables and was the one hitting.
Chang Wook didn't care how many times he was hit. He was okay being judged and disrespected, but if anyone ever talked bad about Ha Eun in front of him, he would make sure they would be sorry.
