These urban fortresses provided enough resources for their inhabitants to remain self-sufficient, yet the experience of life within varied dramatically based on one crucial factor: wealth.
While the affluent lived like gods, the impoverished slum dwellers struggled daily for survival. Basic necessities—food, water, and clothing—became sacred treasures in the squalor of the slums.
Kael, having endured the harrowing trials of the slums for 17 years, believes nothing worse could befall him. Unbeknownst to him, however, the universe has far more in store, weaving a fate that will challenge his very existence.
