When the evening party started, everyone was happy and engaged in conversation.
"Mr. CEO, can I call you Cheng instead?" I asked.
"Sure." replied Cheng.
"That sounds better because calling you Mr. CEO sounds weird." I laughed.
I was standing beside Cheng when someone tapped on my shoulder.
"Mom! why are you here? I missed you. Where's dad?" I asked.
"Your dad is talking to his friends right now. You're beautiful more than ever." My mom kissed me.
Cheng turned around and was quite surprised. my parents were Cheng's aunt and uncle.
I can't believe we are related.
Cheng was very polite with them and they took us out to speak about something really important.
"Cheng, Lina is your cousin. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. Before your parents died, they wanted you to get married to Lina because they know you will like her better than anyone else. You do like Lina, right? It's okay to say it." My mom said.
"We are fine with your relationship. This country allows you to marry each other." My dad said.
"Aunt, Uncle. Lina and I just started getting to know each other. I do like her and I do want to get to know her better before making a decision. Right now, I only have interest in her. I don't like anyone else." Cheng said.
I was speechless because i thought marriage between cousins were forbidden. But, on second thought, it's quite interesting.
I do like Cheng and he likes me too. That's all I wanted to know.
The party ended successfully with a celebration, we ate cake and there were lots of different performances.
As Cheng and I headed back home from the party, I was still shocked by my parents. Surprisingly, Cheng took it well.
"Lina, I didn't know you were my cousin. I did hear my parents mentioning your name but at that time I was still young. If it's okay with you, can we be together? I want to know you better more and more." Cheng said.
"Hm. I didn't know you were my cousin too. I really like you." I replied.
"I don't care if you are my cousin, I will only love you." I finally said as I embraced him.
"Same here." Cheng said.
