What if you could hear them? What if even the subtlest lies you've been told have always been painfully apparent to you.... You'd live your whole life convinced you knew better than anyone else.... Because unlike you the others are blind. Yet ironically, for the past decade, you've been blind too. And perhaps.... The blindest of all.
Have you ever had this strange sensation? The feeling that somebody's lying to you? Not knowing the truth to one's dishonesty. But knowing for sure you're being tricked. As we grow up, we're told not to lie. We are taught that lies are bad. That lies dig holes from which it only gets harder to escape. But don't we all disobey this rule nevertheless?
For as long as I can remember, I have always been able to hear the lies in people's voices. The more they lie, the more obvious it gets. Whether from a stranger, a friend or family.... I simply... always knew. Sometimes you miss the sweet ignorance once experienced. Yet life has made me realize that not all lies are bad. There are good ones and there are bad ones.... sometimes people lie to hide a truth more harmful than the lie itself.
But other times, the lies... they slowly kill you. And for someone who can't afford the luxury of believing such gentle lies,
Cora:'why'.... she says scrapping her nails against the wall.
Once they've got to your brain,
Cora: 'I didn't wanna know'.... She said as the tears run down her face.
Once they've eaten your heart,
Cora: 'i-i'm s- sorry'.... She says putting her hand to her throat struggling to breathe as she crumbles to the floor.
Once they've driven you crazy,
Cora: 'AAAAAAAAAHHHH' She screams in pain bumping her head against the wall as her vision becomes blurry.
There are moments when I wish i was never born with this ability.
Cora: I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. She says trembling, as she wraps her arms around herself trying to feel safe.
There are moments i wish i never knew. That's why... this precious gift is also.... My greatest curse.
