Chapter 2 - I should have

Several weeks before.....

[Cora's POV]:

Sitting on a chair drinking coffee along side of Mr Evans, i stare out the window, looking at how people go about there business as the the sun sets down onto large buildings reflecting a yellowy - orange colour, 'it's beautiful' i think to myself. Now i should probably pay attention to what Mr Evans has to say, since he's seems to be talking to me but... i don't know... i never really can seem to focus these days. I stare at the empty cup in my hands, slowly sinking in the view in front of me. I see Mr Evans, right opposite me, mindlessly talking about something i cant relate to. Now that i see him up close, i never really admired how beautiful his soft hazelnut eyes are. This is so wrong, I can't and I won't do this again... it's too much.... who knows what I would learn if I got close to him. I -

Mr Evans: 'Cora? Are you listening?' he says curiously

Cora: 'what?'

Mr Evans: 'I just said your beautiful eyes look pensive today.' he says with cheeky grin.

I immediately avert my gaze to the side, feeling a little awkward. You see, i don't have normal eyes... my left eye is green and my right eye is blue. trust me, it's not unique or pretty... it's a genetic disorder. But yet people seem to actually like it? WEIRD.

Mr Evans: 'Is there something bothering you?' He says as his face falls in concern.

Cora: 'I'm sorry, didn't mean to worry you, Mr Evans. it's just that iv'e been very busy at work these days.' I say putting on slight smile.

Mr Evans: 'Why would such a beautiful woman like you, need to work? It's hardly suitable for the heir of a family as respectable as yours, but i must admit i admire your dedication.

Ugh, thank you for the fake complement, Mr Evans. As for myself, i admire how you lie so naturally.

Mr Evans: 'You know, i have never see such a exquisite shade of gold before'.... He says blabbering again.

There he goes again... you know high class people thinking they can talk about anything without offending you, as i once again zone out towards the window I see a women with dark hair and striking yellow eyes. I freeze, eyes widening, Kim! She waves outside the window like a crazy women and mouths:

Kim: COOORRRRAAAAA!!!

I freeze again, but this time looking for her to save me from my date with this egotistical hotshot. She settles down nodding to me, then slams her face into the glass every two minutes looking helpless. I try to contain my laughter.

Cora: 'Oh no, dear lord!' I say sarcastically.

Cora: 'It is my blind friend! Please excuse me, Mr Evans, but i must help her!' I say hurrying up to get the fudge outta there.

Mr Evans: wait.... but... He says confused.

Cora: 'It was nice meeting you. Have a lovey evening Mr Evans!' I say as i dash to the door leaving him speechless.

As I make my way out of the cafe, i accidentally bump into a man.

Cora: 'Sorry!' I say worried as he doesn't even acknowledge me.

I turn around, seeing the back of the mans black coat as he walks inside the cafe. I get very mysterious vibe from him which suddenly sparks my interest. I snap back to reality and turn towards Kim.

Cora: 'Kim!' I say grabbing her arm and trying to stop her hitting her head against the window. She then slowly stops and looks at me, while i see the horrified look on Mr Evans face who was still watching.

As we walk near town i put my arm around Kim gently.

Cora: 'Thanks a lot, Kim. i was dying in there.' i say exasperatedly.

Kim: 'i'm fascinated by how unlucky you get with the weirdos you're trying to date.' she says teasingly

Kim: 'Please don't tell me this one said your eyes are unique too.'

Cora: 'Don't even get me started.' I say rolling my eyes.

Kim: 'Ewww, give me two seconds, I need to puke.' She says jokingly as we both laugh.

Newspaper Boy: TEN YEARS AFTER ALLEN-DALE STATION TRAGEDY, A MEMORIAL CEREMONY WILL BE HELD IN HONOR OF THE VICTIMS FALLEN TO THE HANDS OF EVIL!! ONE FOR TWO DOLLARS! He says alerting the townspeople.

I look away trying not to remember, Kim takes my had in hers staring at me intensely with concern. i stare back at her.

Cora: 'Hey, i'm fine, Kim.' I say looking at the floor.

Kim: 'Just because you have started dating guys like a normal 22 year old women, doesn't mean everything fine, Cora. She says trying to comfort me.

I slowly untangle her hands form mine.

Keona: 'Trust me, its been long enough to not bother me anymore.' I say trying to smile.

Kim: 'That's..... true. She says slightly hesitating than walks up to the boy to purchase a newspaper. The boy thanks her and comes back to me.

Cora: 'Alright lets go!' I say painting a happy smile on my face, as we walk into the other side of town talking about my date.

That's right. I have moved on..... i SHOULD have moved on by now.
