Chapter 30 - City resolution

"I didn't say that. But there is something affecting the city. You said in your request that you think you offended someone. Can you explain why that is?"

"That would be me Sires." the sect leader bowed to the two. "A few days before we sent the request, some of me disciples ran into a man they believed was abusing a young girl. They were beaten and ran away. They then sought out my legacy disciple and other disciples to go after the man. My legacy disciple attempted to gage his power and found it to be greater than my own. He talked it out with the man and found the girl he met outside the city was his daughter, and the girl that was thought to be abused. She was fine, and with the man's power my disciples just apologized and left. It was the following day that this affliction happened."

"Why would they believe he was abusing his daughter? I doubt anyone outside of the cults would do this. And if he was that strong, he wouldn't be from a clut." Princess Fang asked. As far as she knew, everyone is law biding and actually cares about each other. Even those cultists do. So abuse is a really far stretch even for them.

"She was malnourished, and the commoners were talking about how he is abusing her. We talked to the inn keeper where they were staying. He said that the girl just didn't eat. The father had always gave her food, but she refused to eat. I believe that's is where it started."

"Where was the confrontation with this supposed expert? Also where had he been to?" Lord Tang interrupted. He wanted to be done with this and get back to his wife, but he also needed to teach his daughter. She was getting caught on pointless details. It didn't matter why they attacked the man, but the fact that they attacked him.

He was also going to show her that the best places to start the investigation, is the common locations of the culprit. And if he needed to, use the locations avoided to try and pinpoint a hideout of some sort. After all, the best way to hide something is to never visit it a second time.

"I don't know about where he has been to frequently besides the inn, and the city gate. As for where the confrontation happened, it happened at central fountain. He took a tour of the city a few days after arriving, but no one has seen him go anywhere else a second time." The sect leader took a breath before he continued. "We've looked over the city gate and the inn, but we didn't find anything."

Lord Tang just stroked his chin as he listened. There was too many places the man visited once, he could have setup a shrine anywhere if this was the work of a god. Eventually he just sighed. "Lets go visit the inn first since that's where this man spent the most time, we'll check the city gate, then the fountain afterwards."

A few minutes later, the group arrived at the inn. The owner looked haggard and exhausted. But when he noticed the two shrouded by black most, he became very nervous and afraid. Like everyone else, he knew that these two were apart of the Tang family. One word from them could make or break any business. "S.. Sires, welcome to my humble inn. How may I be of service?"

The assistant mayor spoke up "We want to look at the room of the man and his daughter that stay here before this curse."

The group follow the owner to the room. They had investigated it, but they couldn't find anything. And the only thing Lord Tang noticed was the concentration of energy was higher than outside the room. But even that was dissipating.

The group then investigated the city gate and found nothing. Disappointed and slightly discouraged they group finally came to the central fountain.

As they entered the central plaza where the fountain was, Lord Tang's eyes flashed as he noticed something. There was several energy flows coming to the fountain before being sent back. In addition there was also a circular wave of energy being released.

"Tell me, what have you noticed since we arrived here?" he asked his daughter, wanting to see if she noticed the oddity or not.

Princess Fang looked around, and contemplated a bit. "There seems to be a large concentration of energy here. But I can't pinpoint anything."

Lord Tang nodded his head. "Good, good. For someone of your age and power it is good that you can at least sense the concentration of energy. To be honest, there are several flows of energy, I'd guess about three dozen different flows. Most of the energy is sent back to where it came from, the rest is used to form an energy wave. The wave seems to start from the fountain itself."

Turning to the assistant mayor Lord Tang instructed, "Clear the area and stop the water. We might need to destroy the fountain to get underground."

A hour later the central plaza was cleared, and the city guard surrounded it preventing the citizens from coming close. The water flow was also stopped.

Lord Tang's figure nodded to the assistant mayor. Then proceeded to the fountain. It was long before he discovered the formation left behind by Germal (Aaron). He sighed mentally. It is easier to break a formation then remove the curse from a god. "Looks like you did offend that man. There is a formation here."
