Chapter 1 - ch1 The First Cliché (Introduction)

"Well shit." Kayne thought as he bent over in pain, clutching his stomach as his blood pooled around him. He noticed with morbid fascination that he was rather focused even as he felt his limbs shutting down.

That morning had been identical to many others before it. He had woken up in his lonely apartment, payed for, by his rich relatives as an excuse to stop him from moving in with them after his parents died.

He glanced at the clock on the wall next to him and sighed. His sleep schedule had gotten messed up over the summer, when he discovered a new book, and he still hadn't recovered from it.

He didn't have time to make himself anything as usual so he grabbed the first thing he saw that was edible. While quickly chowing down on the apple, he ran to his first class.

The classes where as boring as always, but he did his best to at least pay attention. One of the classes he had taken was a shop class because he expected it to be more hands on, but so far, it had only been long talks about safety.

At noon, he headed for the restaurant two blocks from his apartment. He stopped by his house to drop a few things off, then quickly walked over.

Kayne walked into the store and looked around, being close to his school there where a few of his classmates there but it was surprisingly quiet for a Tuesday. He got in line and ordered the same meal he had, every single time.

He was acting on auto pilot, with his mind in the clouds when his card got refused. He decided to skip lunch and check with the bank that evening.

During class that afternoon, he couldn't focus. He was busy thinking about why his card got declined and what to do about it. He watched the seconds tick by on the clock that all classrooms seemed to have.

As the last bell rang, he got up slowly and started packing his things, and he noticed a classmate out of the corner of his eye. He instantly recognized her, she was one of the few people he talked to, and was, by far, his favorite. He had yet to ask her out, but he was planning on it for this weekend.

She was nervously shifting from foot to foot and obviously waiting for him. He turned around and she released a squeak that made him chuckle slightly, under his breath. He had always found her nervous ticks endearing.

She glanced quickly around while blushing then almost threw a card at Kayne in an attempt to give it to him. She squeaked out a short "bye" before quickly running away.

Kayne watched her go then glanced down to at the card, it was pink with purple frills around the edges. It had nothing else on it, except for the words written in the middle, Kayne quickly read them what was written and a smile spread across his face.

That evening he went to the bank to find out why his card was denied. He was standing in line, trying to think of something to do to pass the time when the door behind him was kicked open with a loud bang.

"Everyone, down on the ground!" shouted a masculine voice before several gunshots resounded through the room.

Kayne instantly dropped to the ground and turned around to see what was happening.

In the doorway stood four people, two obvious adults and two that looked much too small to be anything older then 14.

One of the adults had obvious breast and was wearing a almost skin tight black suit, including a mask that covered her face.

The other adult had wide shoulders and was wearing a large trench coat that made it impossible to discern any physical features he had, he was also wearing a black mask.

The two children where wearing matching black outfits and seemed almost identical.

Every one of the four people, dressed in black, was holding a gun. Kayne found it almost funny watching the obvious children swing guns around, but at the same time, the thought justly terrified him.

Under pressure, the human mind does weird things, and Kayne's mind was no different, it instantly started throwing thoughts around. In his still tired mind, he started accidentally conflating reality with the books he had read recently.

Without even realizing it, he stood up and lunged at the four people, still located in the doorway. He barely made it to his feet when the first shot rang out.

"Well shit." Kayne thought as he bent over in pain, clutching his stomach as his blood pooled around him. He noticed with morbid fascination that he was rather focused even as he felt his limbs shutting down.

His head fell to the side and his eyes fell on a card on the ground, it was pink with purple frills on the side and in the middle it said: "Do you want to go on a date this Saturday? My number : 555-1638"

Upon seeing the card, Kayne's mind flashed through several emotion before it slowly came to a stop, and his life escaped him.

*********

Kayne gasped awake and quickly looked around in bewilderment, before looking around once more in confusion. He found himself in a large white empty space with no defining features.

"So I guess I have to do something with your soul now." A voice rung out seemingly in his head.

Kayne flinched at the unexpected voice and the words it conveyed. His thoughts went wild and, his mind still conflating reality with his books, he asked:

"Are you going to reincarnated me?"

There was a large silence before the voice broke out laughing. The laughing continued for a long time before the voice simply agreed and the whiteness surrounding Kayne disappeared. What replaced it was a terrifying abyss, so dark he couldn't even tell if he had eyes anymore.

His eyes started trying to focus on anything however they did not succeed. He became extremely disoriented and felt like throwing up almost as soon as the white disappeared. He began panicking as he was extremely overwhelmed by everything that had occurred within the last 5 hours.

After being there for what felt like week, he was approaching insanity. He was almost overwhelmed when information appeared in mind his as if he just read it however there where no words in front of him.

[New Consciousness is detected. Calculating value of the soul.]

What followed was a painfully long silence before the voice began 'speaking' again.

[Value is 46.354/100]

[Value is equivalent to a New Born child. No memory erasure necessary]

Kayne was both happy and depressed. He was happy because he got to keep his memories. He was depressed because the system only valued his soul at the level of a child. Before he could think longer on the subject, he lost consciousness.

He woke up in a crib clean and comfortable. He tried to sit up but it felt like his head weighed more than anything he had ever lifted before, let alone with his neck. He could do nothing but sit there and try to call to that 'voice' that he heard before, however he did not get a response.

***Must continue correcting from here**

Three years later he finally managed to crawl and one year after he learned how to walk. He was still very weak and he couldn't even beat his younger sister who was still only three.

Even though he was weak his sister still played with him and despite still remembering his past life, Kayne still started seeing her as his real sister. By his ninth birthday they where inseparable, mainly because Kayne' s sister followed him everywhere but Kayne never once got mad or even annoyed at her.

On his tenth birthday, Kayne finally heard the 'voice' again. It was during a ceremony every child went through on their tenth birthday

[Calculating class.]

When Kayne saw this he instantly broke out in a smile. He asked around and quickly realized that the adults around him all knew about classes. He realized through the conversation that classes weren't just some rare event he had read about in the library. So he began asking around.

He learned that once people in this world called Feren reached a certain age they would all get a class assigned to them by the 'voice' that everyone thought was God.

What made Kayne the most excited, however, was the existence of magic. He learned that once people got their class, depending on the class, they would be able to learn magic automatically through special means.

The only disappointment for Kayne was the fact every one would get to access their stats and improve that way. However his disappointment vanished while he was waiting in anticipation for 'god' to tell him his class.

[Calculations complete. Class:Supporter]

Kayne's smile instantly disappeared when he saw that. He was expecting swordsman or warrior. However he got a support class.

"Why are you asking about classes?"

His dad, named Syn, asked him, and he responded in a subdued tone with.

"I think I just got my class"

His dad grew excited and started speaking non stop. The only thing Kayne heard before tuning out was that he could see his level and other similar information about himself, if he thought the word "status".

His information popped up on a screen before him and he quickly read it:
