Synopsis
I can’t... no, I don’t want to remember what I was like before this happened. I should’ve been smarter, I should’ve listened to myself. I shouldn't have lied to Mom, or to anyone else. I should’ve told them where I was actually going. The memories of that morning’s chill of the fall air, the leaves under my feet...and the guilt on my chest. Side note: There are only 11 chapters.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

7:45 p.m.- Outside

Every time I shift the heavy bag from one hand to the other, I can hear the wrappers jostle. One of the only houses that give out full candy bars is right ahead. Every year the house is decorated as something different; last year it was a palace and this year it's a haunted house. Walking up to it just gives me the chills. I knock on the door and no one answers, I knock on it again, no one. I find the doorbell that is painted like an eye. The door swings open as soon as my fingertip leaves the doorbell. Scared by the costume and the suddenness of the door opening, I jump back and give out a little scream. My eyes are immediately drawn to the knives on the costume piercing into the costume, into tiny boxes. A cereal killer, Haha. I look in the tub held out and see all of the king-sized candies from Hershey's to KitKat. I grab a king-sized KitKat and put it into my overflowing Walmart bag.

" Bye. " Mr. Walter said.

Mr. Walter is one of my parents closest friends. I have very good memories of Mr. Walter's daughter, Shyla, playing with me and coming over for dinner.

"Thank you, Mr. Walter." I replied.

When I got back home, my sister and my friends follow me to do what every kid does on Halloween; count their candy and trade. 87 pieces. After 30 minutes of trading, I finally got all the candy I wanted from my annoying little sister, Lyra and my best friends, Phoebe, Shyla, Noelle, and Laura
