Day Two- 10:19 a.m.- Mr. Walter's House
" I got you a watch." she pulls out a narrow box and takes a watch out.
She grabs my left wrist and wraps the watch around my wrist. The cold plastic tightens around my wrist, constricting blood. I try to adjust it but it doesn't budge.
" Now, if you ever decide to try and run away again, it will shock you until you get back. And if you talk back or argue, it will do the same.
I'm scared now. What will happen if I accidentally argue? Okay, from now on, don't talk, no matter how much pain you're in. I nod my head for acknowledgment.
" Can I watch TV?" I asked.
" Umm... sure." Kerry replied.
I grab the sleek remote from the coffee table. I browse the shows. S impsons, Live PD, SpongeBob, Full House, Local News. Local News. Did my parents report me missing yet? I click the select button and the news anchors talking about the current events of the elections.
" And now onto missing child report." a short man in his mid 40's said. A video of my parents appears on the screen.
" Adelyn was such a smart young lady," my mom bawls. " Adelyn, if you're watching this, please...please just let me know that you're alive. Come home."
Before I know it, I'm wiping a tsunami of tears off my cheek and neck. The taste of a slightly salting taste hit my lips and a wave of heat consumes me. I can't bear it.
" Poor baby misses her family. Boo-hoo." Shyla whines.
" Stop..it!" I stutter.
" What are you going to do about it, little baby?"
" I said STOP IT!" I yell.
I get up and slap her face. Her hand covering her cheek where I slapped and her face has a blank stare amazed that I did that.
" What's wrong with you?" she
questions while running up to her parent's room. " Mom, Adelyn slapped me." she faked cried.
