"Please don't joke like that. I almost fell for it." Audrey said taking her hand away in surprise and embarrassment at the same time.
She felt like she's getting to used on his touch and it's also giving her the urge to touch him too but no.
She's afraid that she might be just his toy and is doing all of these things such as teasing her a habit just to pass time.
"But I'm not." He said worryingly for her felt her doubt pass through to him like some cursed chain letter.
"I don't want to break whatever is going on between the two of you right now but someone is looking very pissed is coming our way." Kylie said as her eyes follow the person who she's referring to.
Audrey knew who exactly she is talking about and prepared herself for the worst.
As Angela is getting nearer, she returned her death glare with a more intense glare. Just as when she thought she's about to clash with her, she was just passed by on to.
Audrey and Kylie looked at each other and saw that Angela just passed by them because they're both near the exit.
A little bit disappointed for she somehow expected that she'll be challenged into a fight or what, Audrey sighed deeply in relief for she learned that her current opponent is fierce yet civilized.
"I bet she hates you so much right now." Kylie said as she continued eating her third slice of pizza.
"Yes, and I felt like I just officially declared war against her."
"I thought for a moment that she will lash out at you after seeing you two getting lovey-dovey earlier and make a scene. Gosh she's scary."
"I felt like I'm at defeat here." She said sulking down her head on the table and covering it with both of her arms.
"Geez Aiden. You're just so handsome that people fight over you." Kylie said teasing him.
"Well, it's not easy being me. Girls fighting over me is my normal daily routine." He replied grinning.
"Yeah right. I guess I should just stop hanging out with you then." Audrey abruptly said as remained sulked down like some melted jelly.
"I'm just joking." Aiden said in his defense.
"This is one of the reasons why sometimes I don't know if you're already telling the truth or not."
"I guess confusing you is my forte then."
Audrey looked at him a little irritated and said in a very serious manner, "Maybe I should consider handing you over to her. Honestly, she's very pretty and looked like she'll be good to you. She likes you a lot too."
"She likes me a lot too?" He asked trying to confirm if what he heard was right this time.
"Yes! She even wanted me to stop hanging around you and I obviously declined but now I think I should reconsider. But when I've done the silent treatment on you and you've already gone MIA for a couple of days and that's excruciating for me already!"
"You obviously like me, do you?" He asked.
Kylie unexpectedly choked down on her drink. Being a bystander is really hard specially if can't just drop the bomb in front of the two to end this chasing cat and mouse.
"As a friend!" Audrey exclaimed trying to be defensive. "Of course, I like you as a friend! I already got used on spending so much time with you and Kylie and I don't need to be told specially by Angela what to do and not just because I love you."
Surprised of what she said she immediately added, "...being around."
She felt like her heart just literally stopped when she almost said that she loves him. Well, she just did but she is not even that sure if the love that she feels towards him is not just as a friend but something more. She doesn't want to be hasty. She just now hopes that Aiden will let it go easily and won't make it a big deal.
"I thought I just heard you say that you love me."
"You did not." She replied trying to terminate the conversation but was suddenly recalled of what she told Angela earlier. She wanted to tell him what she told her but telling him right now would seem to complicate things more.
Everything is getting way more complicated than it was. She doesn't want to be more assuming than she already is. She felt that if she tells him that she just said something like declaring that he's hers, she felt that he might start to lose him.
Feeling confused, she diverted her attention on eating pizza instead.
Days had gone by slowly for Audrey felt like the war she had just declared is sinking on to her like a harsh quick sand. The more you wanted your day to just get on the way it used to be, the faster it will only defy you in the end.
With Angela around, she seldom spends time with Aiden now. She always pulls him around telling things that he needed to accompany her because their presence is both needed at some party and such, leaving him no choice but to follow.
Though time seemed to be lacking between the him and Audrey, both knew that if there's a will there's a way.
Since they won't be able to hang around like before, they now often exchange messages. They talked about a lot of things that most of time makes them unaware that they're already staying up both late at night.
"Hey, do you plan on having lots of eye bags tomorrow?" Aiden asked.
Audrey smiled as she read his message and replied, "Same for you, panda bear."
"If I'm a panda so are you."
"Well then it's settled. We're both pandas." She replied with a laughing emoji at the end.
"I'll start calling you Panda then. I can't wait to see how big your eyebags are tomorrow."
Audrey liked the sound of him calling her "Panda" for it sounded like a sweet term of endearment.
She then replied, "Alright, well I guess we both should sleep now. It's only a couple of hours away before we need to go school, panda."
"Ok, if you say so then I'll gladly meet you inside my dreams then my dear panda."
"See you then, crazy panda bear." She replied with a panda emoji at the end.
She can't help not to smile. For now, she decided to stop worrying about things and just embrace what reality is giving her.
Before completely going to sleep, she re-read some of Aidens messages to her and checked her alarm if she already had set it on.
She rolled on to her bed and wrapped herself with a blanket like a sushi and thought of him again before her eyes completely shut down.
