Three sudden knocks and an abrupt door opening, that's what it takes Audrey to come back to her senses. Her already rapidly beating heart just activated her adrenaline as twice as it already has. Her mind figured that her door wasn't even locked that getting caught on the act like this is definitely not a sight that she wanted to be seen.
A quick jolt of impulsiveness made her immediately roll down as fast as could just to get out on the top of bed with Aiden. She hastily sat on the floor, took her phone as fast as she could and pretended to browse like nothing had happened.
Not everyone had the same kind of level of impulsiveness to "pretend as if nothing happened" like Audrey has. Still startled, all that Aiden could do when he saw someone opening the door was just lift the sheets up and hid under it to hide all his embarrassment away.
"Audrey dinner's ready…ow." Kylie stopped hallway as she opened the door and saw how Audrey was slumped down on the floor while Aiden was obviously hiding under the sheets was rather awkward.
She then said as she slowly steps back while acknowledging that she had indeed interrupted something, "Uhm uh, carry on. It's not like I saw anything happening. I'll be just downstairs."
Before Kylie could even escape, Audrey suddenly stood up and said, "I'll go with you."
"No! Don't!"
"I'm definitely going with you now. She said as widened her eyes towards her crazy awkward friend telling her that she needed to escape too.
After hearing the door close, Aiden just realized how uncomfortable that was. He found himself wrapped around with Audrey's blanket and it's giving him weird ideas for it smells like her which is just so good for him.
Before his mind continues to wander off on its own again he stood fast and folded the blanket and fixed the sheets before leaving the room. This is definitely just such a long day for him and he can't help but not be surprised of what it continues to bring him.
Dinner went on unexpectedly well. Levi and Aiden were silent while Audrey and Kylie chat from time to time. Those two just seemed to have endless to talk about. They're rather inseparable like they're sisters from another mother.
It was such a surprise for both Levi and Aiden that a time will come that the both of them will eat dinner at the same table without having any argument. But it can't be denied that it was indeed such a good dinner specially knowing that Audrey came home safe.
"Levi, let's talk outside." Aiden said in a low tone as he took a quick glance at Audrey and Kylie who's having fun cleaning the kitchen.
Levi went outside as told and asked, "Say what you need to say."
"Audrey's been stalked today."
"What?!" Levi who's been refusing to look at Aiden straight in the eye had all his attention fixed on to him now.
"I just found about it after she got home. It was a guy that seemed to be in his mid-thirties. He's about 5'6 tall and a bit chubby. His face is still unknown for he's wearing a cap and a hoodie."
Aiden paused a bit and said in a very serious manner and added, "Audrey tried to lose track of him but ended up getting lost at the same time. Her phone died and couldn't contact any of us. Thankfully she met my cousin and helped her."
"Audrey didn't tell this to you right?" Levi asked as he clenches his fist.
"No. You know how stubborn she is by thinking that she might just worry any of us if she tells such but things like this are just alarming."
"It's my fault. I didn't go home with her today." Levi said blaming himself for letting her go home alone.
"It's partially your fault indeed but it has already happened. Let's just not let the mistake happen again."
"I hate not to disagree with you."
"She seemed a little scared about what had happened. It's best not to ask her about it for now."
"Yeah."
"I'll need your cooperation to catch this guy though. I can have someone else do this job for me but I need to personally know what his motives are because if we alert the authorities things might get dirty if it went out of hand."
"Even if you don't ask me I'll willingly do it, to do anything for Audrey's sake."
"Of course you will. Levi, I know that you might betray me one day but I know...." He walked closer towards him and said with a cunning smile, "... you'll never betray her."
Levi felt a little infuriated for he felt a little provoked but chose to stay calm by saying, "You don't need to remind me about the obvious things that I'm going to do just in case you mess up."
"Good. I guess I'll leave now."
"I'll call on Audrey for you."
"Thanks. I guess you don't really dislike me as much as I thought."
"I still don't like you. It's just that Audrey's really fond of you. And if you just suddenly leave after having a prep talk with me she'll think that I drove you away."
Audrey came running outside after hearing from her brother that Aiden is about to leave. She then saw him leaning on to his car door with one of his hands on his pocket. She immediately met his eyes and there she smiled at him in exchange.
"Here." She said handing over a small plastic bag.
Aiden opened it and saw that it was a pack of dog biscuits. "This is…?"
"I forgot to give it to you earlier. Its weekend tomorrow and I thought that you'll go visit your dog. I got that for free and thought that it would be best to give it to you since we don't own a dog."
"Oh. Yes. I'll be visiting my dog. Thanks for this. I almost thought that this is actually for me." He grinned.
"You eat dog biscuits? I should have bought a spare. I haven't tasted one though but I've heard that some people do. Maybe it tastes good because it's a biscuit?"
Aiden laughed hard. That's not what he meant though but still it gave him such a nice laugh after worrying so much earlier. "Hahaha. That's not…hahaha. Silly I don't eat dog biscuits but if that is what you're going to give me I'll still take it for my dog of course."
Audrey blushed hard knowing that she misunderstood. She's thankful that it's a little bit dark outside or else she would be even embarrassed about it.
"You're just so cute." Aiden said as he held his hand out and pets her head gently like some cute puppy.
"S-stop I'm not cute at all. Are you not supposed to leave now?"
"Are you driving me out? So harsh."
"It's not like that. It's just it's getting late and…wait why are you laughing??"
Aiden bursted a quick laugh and said, "Nothing. I'm just glad that you're still…you."
"Huh?"
Aiden went inside his car and started the engine and was about to set off when he suddenly realized that he needed to do something for he feared that when he wakes up the next day things will start to be more complicated than it already is.
Audrey wondered why he hasn't left for it's been a while now and he looked like he's staring blankly out of nowhere. So when she saw him get off his car she asked, "Did you forget something?"
"Yes. This."
He walked fast towards her and pulled her gently but hastily towards him and there he wrapped her with both of his arms ensuring that she's real and not some lucid illusion. He felt her warmth and it somehow secured his anxious self.
He feels that there's a storm coming in that what happened today was just one of the many unexpected things that may happen in the future and that this is not the beginning but only a pretext of what tomorrow might bring.
