"Uhm…I…ugh."
Though it seems that her temperature had drastically went down, Audrey's head felt fuzzy thinking what lie she should tell next. She hates liars, and being one herself makes it even more contextual than it should be.
Nobody even knows that she's already friends with Tiffany. She hasn't even told Kylie about it for she knew she'll be surprised. She glanced to her left trying to think what words she should utter next but it looks like that her brain isn't functioning well given the fact that she's sick and is currently at a hospital bed.
She then sat upright trying to ignoring the tormenting stare of Aiden. She's guilty about what she did. It almost felt like she had sold him out.
Aiden looked at her waiting for an answer. His stare makes her feel that he's teasing her. He didn't really look shocked that Audrey knew about his 'supposed to be date'. He actually looks like that he had already sought out the truth out of her.
"You know…" Aiden said as he leaned over Audrey, teasing her. He put an arm out on Audrey's side making it impossible for her to ran away. Audrey slowly moved back trying to disregard his purposely teasing.
"W-what??" She said as she tries hard to ignore how near he currently is now.
"You are…a bad liar."
Audrey wanted to defend herself with his accusations, though what he said is true. But the moment she tilted her head to look at him, all she saw was his beautiful face entirely focused on her. Instead of being frustrated over his annoyance, she was stopped by his intense stare at her.
He really can't help not to get captivated by her beauty. Staring at her once in a while seemed to have been a habit of him already. He can't seem to have enough of her, that he even steals a glance at her from time to time at school. He is delighted that he's able to see all her expressions now. Be it happy, sad or angry, it all meant a lot for him.
Time seemed to have resumed between the two of them when they heard a cellphone rang. Aiden looked at the table on the side and saw that it was Audrey's phone. He took it and wanted to just hand it to her but when he saw whose name is reflected on the screen, he then said with a very sweet smile, "It's such a coincidence that we both have the same friend whose name is Tiffany Miller."
Audrey looked at him dumbfounded as he gave her phone to her. When she saw who is calling, it was indeed her. She put her phone on silent mode trying to ignore her calling. Of all the times that she can call, Audrey asked herself why now?
She really felt like she was caught red-handed very badly. She thought that Tiffany will not call again after ignoring her first call but she just continued on calling her. Audrey really looked so frustrated now.
"Are you not going to answer that?" Aiden asked as if waiting for Audrey to answer her phone.
"Err…" She just held her phone on her hands feeling remorseful. She glanced back at Aiden and saw him sat comfortably besides her as he opened up his phone.
He then said, "Go ahead. It's not like I have any intention of listening to your conversation."
Audrey then nervously answered her phone and said, "Hey."
"Audrey my date was cancelled!" Tiffany said almost in distress.
"What? Why?" She replied surprised.
"Aiden said he had an emergency."
"Ow…" It was then Audrey realized that the emergency was her. She looked at Aiden and it seems that he's currently pre-occupied with his phone.
"But don't worry! We'll be seeing each other on Thursday. Can you believe it? He even re-scheduled our date! I'm so happy!"
"I'm…happy for you too." She replied feeling contested.
"Do you want to meet up after your school? I'll pick you up! Let's go shopping! I really wanted to dress really good for him!"
"Sorry. I can't today. I'm actually not feeling well right now."
"Oh dear. Are you okay?"
"Don't worry I'm okay. Can I call you back later? I need to deal with something first." She said trying to cut their conversation short. She can't say anything else because someone besides her might hear out what she'll say.
"Okay! Call me back later. I'll be waiting!" Tiffany then hanged up.
The moment Audrey closed her phone, Aiden took it out of her hand and placed it at the table besides him and said, "So…care explaining how you knew each other?"
"It's not what you're thinking. It's someone else and not the Tiffany that you knew."
"Really?" He asked suspiciously.
"Yes. Please don't question me too much. I'm currently sick. Look! I even have a dextrose on me!"
"You mean to say that sick people should be an exception if they're caught lying?"
"Yes! Oh sh*t…" Audrey covered her mouth for answering his trick question too fast. She clicked her tongue thinking that she can't deny any more of his accusations at this point.
Aiden just grinned back at her as if contemplating for her explanation. He continued to stare at her waiting for her to surrender.
It's really hard to ignore someone's stare specially if you are well aware that you are being stared at. Audrey decided to give up knowing that it won't do her any good if she keeps on lying.
"Fine! Arrest me for being guilty."
"Sure. How do you want your punishment be made?" He said delighted.
"Don't tell me that you already have something on your mind?? Oh gosh."
"Since you're offering yourself openly to me, it's such a waste of opportunity if I just let it pass."
"You can't be serious! Wait…are you serious?"
"How serious do want me to be?" He tilted her chin making her face him. He then said profoundly, "Tell me, do you really want me to be serious more than I already am right now?"
