Chapter 5 - Interrupted flow

7:30 evening...

"Those annoying pests!!!", Seb cursed under her breath. She couldn't mention the directed people because they were not present at that moment.

She was in a terrific mood and took her anger out on her cycling, as she biked in a tremendous pace through the open road.

"How dare they!!!", she murmured again.

It happened so, that the so called Senior Jacob mentioned earlier, who was the college football team Captain, had lost one of his best players in the girl's team. She wasn't hurt or anything, but she refused to play more. The reason was ridiculous. Her boyfriend complained that she has too much masculinity for a women figure. And that was enough for her to give up on her game.

And no one could change her mind in spite of a thousand persuasion.

To worsen the situation, there was an upcoming state level competition within 2 months. It was impossible to come up with a player with equal skills within that short of a time.

So Jacob somehow came to know about Seb's talent in football from one of his lackeys. He had seen her picture in the papers once when Seb got an award for the best player in her junior years. and that was it.

Now Jacob is desperately held on making Seb play in the team and won't hear any excuse.

Seb tried her best to put up with the argument and give vital reasons of her incapacity to play. She mentioned her Taekwondo Tournament, assignments, documentaries and other excuses of her being very busy already, but Jacob won't listen to anything.

Finally when all requests and persuasion couldn't move Seb from her words, Jacob resorted to bullying.

He threatened Seb to disavow her from the "Aphrodites" and get her name removed from the tournament as well. Seb knew that it was a honest threat and they were quite capable of doing it. She was left with no choice.

Literally she was forced into playing. Now she was totally packed and doomed with her schedule.

"I always manage to drag myself into trouble somehow!!!", she scolded herself when she found no one else,"Now I'll have to go home, get the blown up fuse, make dinner,sketches.....and..dinner!!...Crap!!!...I completely forgot that I've no ingredients for making dinner!!...Great!!Additional trouble!! Thank you god for making my life so troublesome. Now I'll have to drop by the convenient store again!!".

She swung her bike and pedaled more faster due to annoyance. It's almost 7:45 and another 30 minutes will fly off while buying stuffs.

"Eric was right!!!", agreed Seb as she sighed,"I've got a restless as well as careless mind".

As she thinking useless things and cycling so fast and blindly, that she failed to notice that market zone was almost near. She nearly overtook the cycle parking stand. When she noticed, she carelessly swung her cycle back. She did that with such a tremendous jolt, that the pace of the cycle increased through the downhill way. It failed to slow down even when Seb pulled the breaks fiercely. They both landed in front of the cycle parking slot with a jerk as the cycle bumped into the iron pole and came to a stop.

Fortunately both Seb and her bike was unharmed , but not the other parked cycles.

Seb watched with her mouth open wide, as all the cycle kept falling over one another like a domino's game. She was shocked as she couldn't move a muscle to stop them from falling as she watched without moving a muscle. Her senses returned when the sound of the falling cycles ceased and the area became as quiet as ever again.

A pallor of fear spread over Seb's face as she looked around, checking if anyone has seen her committing the crime. She was lucky as no one came into sight. The incident went unnoticed.

Seb got off her bike quickly and instead of parking it in the parking slot, she placed it apart from the other cycles against a wall. It's a measure she took so that if any of the cycle owners return, they won't be able to blame her for having the only standing cycle because it would seem suspicious.

Seb parked her bike, locked it and entered the convenient store with a calm expression as if nothing happened.
