Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Skipping through a tall patch of grass that was a little away from the fringe of the magical forest. I make small hand gestures and small nods of light of various colours start dancing in between the blades behind me.

After making myself look like a magical fairy for the past half hour, I gracefully tumble out of the tall blades of grass and into a field of smaller grass.

No way did I stumble over something hidden underneath the grass, nope.

A grumpy growl exits the throat of a sleeping creature hidden in the tall grass. Stretching in the same fashion of a typical house cat, the creature I stumbled over was anything but a typical house cat. Dark golden wheat in colour with spots of a dull green peppering it's fur, the feline creature finishes its final lazy cat stretch and brings its full attention towards me.

Frozen in place, I stare at the magical creature that escaped my detection magic despite it lacking the usual colouring a magical creature with one magic script has.

Not even bothering to approach me like a real threat or prey. It lazily saunters over and wraps its large body around my frozen form and falls back asleep.

Using me as some sort of cushion, I'm trapped under and around the prone figure of the large cat. And with my free hand I decide maybe I shouldn't attack the large cat, you know as a common curtesy to it for not attacking me. Instead I use my free time to continue my magic practice.

Creating swirls of wind, I add additional elements into the mixture: fire, water, earth, ice, shadow, light and lightning. My favourite so far is adding light, since I can change the colour.

When I first started practicing my light magic more I realized that I could change the colour, it didn't just stay a solid white. So whenever I get the chance I always change the colours.
After an hour of playing with my swirls of light, I fall asleep with the large cat.

A purring sound enters my ears and breaks the soft darkness of sleep. I wake up just as the large cat untangles itself from me and slowly makes its way towards the magical forest.

With one last look in my direction the large cat changes colours. Chrome black dominates most of its fur, while silver lightning like strips wrap its body like that of a tiger. Violet eyes replace the dull brown ones that it previously had. A force intrudes my mind followed by a masculine voice, "Thank you for such a lovely nap. I'm glad it was interrupted."

With my mouth basically hitting the ground below, a soft chuckle that was almost a purr was the last sound that entered my mind before the mental force from the chrome black tiger left.

Resisting the urge to follow the mysterious cat back into the forest, I leave the small grass and continue on my path along the edge of the forest.

A day passes and the encounter with the chrome black tiger is still consuming most of my attention. So much so that I almost missed the road that I was hoping I would find.

The road wasn't paved, but it seems kept enough for it to be considered a road.
Putting one foot in front of another I make my way down the road. All previous thoughts about the mysterious cat are suppressed as I start to think about meeting some actual people.
