Draig left the room and continued his mission, he was hoping there would be more inside as he didn't look forward to what his situation would be when he returned to the guild with only four Skill Books from such a large place. As he searched Draig played with a few of the things he had learned from those decayed Skill books, he displayed his ability and affinity for each of the elements which may have been a side effect of the Enchanting Skill as one would need to be able to enchant with each of the Elements depending on the request.
However Draig soon met his first test with his new skills and and spells as an odd set of runes glowed upon a statue to his left before the stone sculpture began to step off it's pedestal and break one of it's counterparts into pieces in order to grab the stone weapons it had possessed.
This was something recognized as an ancient type of monster as many of the old Ruins and tombs possessed these things but to Draig it was obvious by the symbols that had lit up when it first started moving that this was in fact an enchantment. He didn't understand the specifics around it as he would need to create is own alphabet in order to enchant items otherwise he would disrupt the formula allowing him to easily bypass this Statue Guardian.
'Alright let's try a few things' thought Draig as he took out a large bar of metal, this was the 'Sword' the Guild had given him in order to explore and fight monsters.
It was merely a heavy bar of tempered metal, it wasn't heavy to Draig due to his natural strength from his Vampire blood but still anything that decided to be his opponent would find themselves brutally bashed to death with the bar.
Draig took an odd stance with the Bar held directly outwards with his arm lowered at his side, this was one of skills he had picked up from the books in the previous room.
"Windmill stance: Heavy wind" stated Draig in pride.
It wasn't necessary for him to call out his attack but he had seen many of the Guilders do this and he had thought it looked cool and so he spoke the name before he sprinted forward and the bar seemed to begin rotating like the blades of a windmill struck by a harsh wind as Draig suddenly raised his arm upward believing the attack would shatter the stone statue but instead what he received was the bar bouncing off and vibrating violently until his hands went numb from the vibrations.
Draig dropped the bar and shook his hands to remove the feeling before he was forced to jump back but still he was struck by stray pieces of stone from the statue hitting the floor causing the area to become destroyed. Quickly rising back to his feet Draig decided to try a different approach as lightning crackled around his arms before he channeled the current forward as devastating bolt of lightning which caused the Statue to pause in it's movements.
Draig smirked thinking he had defeated it but then to his horror the Statue spat his attack back at him through the sword forcing him to once again dodge lest he be killed by his own attack as it seemed stronger than when he had used it.
'Damn' cursed Draig as he hid behind a fallen pillar thinking of another way he could try and defeat this monstrosity. It was at this moment that Draig began searching through his mind in hopes of finding a technique he could use which came in the Form of earth magic. A simple spell but he didn't know if it would work however he didn't have many options unless he decided to turn around now and return with so few things.
'Let's give it a shot' thought Draig as he peeked his head from around the pillar looking for the statue and found that it was just standing there lifelessly as if it had been there the whole time. Sighing to himself Draig stood from behind the pillar as he began charging his spell, it was a level one spell but he didn't have much choice in his options as he had to hope this worked.
The statue began to light up again as if seeing Draig before it found its mass destabilized.
"Rock puddle" cried Draig once again calling out his attack and it seemed it was successful as the Statue's legs seemed to melt until the statue had none and found itself pasted to the floor by it's own liquefied mass, looking at his handiwork Draig felt more confident.
'So this is the strength of Skill Books' thought the Vampire wondering how long it would have taken him to learn the spell the old Fashioned way.
It was truly something to marvel at, the ancients had somehow streamlined the process for training with the creation of Skill Books and with this being another art lost to the ravages of time. He had to wonder if they would laugh at them for being too primitive as in his opinion and experience it seemed the Ancients were far more advanced in their ways than the modern Adventurers.
However he could ponder this later, he needed to be quick before others found the location of these ruins and thus Draig continued forward searching each building carefully finding a few things he might be able to present to the Guild master and get more hospitable treatment.
He continued like this stuffing his beloved Bottomless bag until he came across a big set of doors, Draig felt his heart palpitate as this could mean a big score but this could also mean deadlier dangers than the Statue from before but if he didn't check this place out and someone else ended up benefiting from the Guild Master would beat him until he was a bloodied mess quivering on the floor.
"I can do this....." muttered Draig as he strained himself pushing the decrepit doors causing a ominous creaking sound to ring out. Air hit the room for the first time in what could have possibly been centuries as it was uncertain when the Ancients fell, the only thing known is that it was so long ago that their history was lost to the world.
Dust rose and light shown across the room due to some magic crystals hanging from the ceiling, inside skeletons could be seen but it was the one at the had of the room that Draig locked his eyes on due to a few of the bands around his finger.
"Spatial Gears perhaps" wondered Draig aloud as he carefully stepped into the room examining everything in case there was perhaps another Guardian in this room but it was a pleasant surprise to find none as he began pulling the rings off of the Skeleton's fingers before inspecting them by passing his Mana into the jewelry. Three of the Four rings had passed his inspection showing they were in fact Spatial gears, items capable of holding items similar to the bottomless bag except only the high class Guilds and Nobles possessed them due to the rarity.
Emptying the contents of the rings Draig smiled up seeing a few more books in marvelous condition, one of them being a Black book and the other a Dark green, he wondered who this person was to be able to possess so many treasures but he couldn't be bothered as he took only these two books and the sword at the Skeletons waist before sealing the rest of the items into two of the rings while keeping the third Spatial gear for himself where he put his newly acquired sword.
Now he just stared at the two Skill books before him, both were of the magic Variety but they seemed very sinister.
'Dark arts and Nether Magic' read Draig unsure if he actually wanted these Magics but then his impulsive side won out and Draig once again activated his Mana in order to receive their teachings in which Draig actually cried out from the pain.
His mind felt like it was melting while his eyes felt as if they boiling as he dropped to his knees clutching his head, unseen by him the Skeleton seemed to look down at him for but a moment before it started to finally submit to the ravages of time it's bones becoming dust as the other Skeletons in the room also followed this path.
Draig began sweating horribly until the pain suddenly subsided and he looked around the room finding no trace of the skeleton at the head of the room or any others for that matter.
'Weird' thought Draig before picking up the simple looking Iron ring that he had decided would be his from now on, this being the Spatial gear he had stored his newly acquired sword which he was very happy to have.
He had gave into his impulses just for today and he had gained immensely while robbing those horrid people at the Guild of a chance to grow stronger. It made him feel good to know that his tormentors wouldn't have the pleasure of benefiting as much as he had even if it was only by comparison.
Draig finished looking through the rest of the Buildings and stored anything the Guild Master would find interesting into the Spatial gears before he returned to entrance but hesitated before walking out.
Looking at the Iron band that looked far too simple to be a Spatial gear he didn't dare risk having it taken and thus he gulped slightly as he tossed it into his mouth before taking a swig from his canteen swallowing the ring for safe keeping. Then he stepped outside and began his journey back to the Guild as he felt the tracking spell placed on him warming up to urge him back faster, it seemed the Guild Master was growing impatient.
