Chereads / The True Tale of Draig / Chapter 3 - Return to the Guild

Chapter 3 - Return to the Guild

Draig had made haste in his trip back to the Guild, the Tracking mark placed upon growing hotter the longer he made it back to town.

Walking through the streets he received disgusted looks and spiteful jeers for his troubles all the way to the Guild, it was the largest building in the village acting as the hub of resident Adventurers and the Guild master's home and upon seeing Draig the middle aged man smiled greedily.

"Behold our prodigal son has returned" chuckled the Master as he looked down at the Vampire with cruel eyes.

"I have collected everything that may interest you" reported Draig blankly, it didn't do well for him to show emotion in front of this man. If he came back proudly his efforts would be undermined and displayed as worthless, if he came back mad he would find himself chained up for more pain tolerance training thus he had settled for answering this person as such when returning from his tasks.

"Excellent why don't you show us what you have found" smirked the master enjoying the broken sound in Draig's monotone.

Draig walked to the man before emptying his Bottomless bag revealing the Skill books and the Spatial gears he had found inside the ruins.

The master looked at the meager amount of Items and was about to strike Draig but the Vampire acted quickly and emptied the Spatial gears revealing the true number of items causing the cruel bastard to light up in joy.

"Very good indeed, so many Skill books, so much gold, and you even found two Spatial gears" cackled the Master as he perused over the items with glee.

"I am sorry I couldn't find more" answered Draig looking down to avoid angering this man in some form.

"No, no boy. You have done very well this time, you may have even earned yourself a hot bowl of porridge and some meat from this task" smirked the Master

"Thank you Master" answered Draig though this was a bit more sincere as he rarely received such foods, usually his meals consisted of cold leftover soup and Hardened bread if he ate at all.

"You have managed to earn your keep for another day, return to your room and your food will be brought to you" grinned the Master as he wiped the tracker mark from the Vampire's shoulder shocking Draig as his widened eyes shot up to look at the Master in shock.

"Don't think too much leech, I will be out of town selling off the goods here personally as I found that one of our beloved members had thought they could pilfer the wealth of the Guild for themselves" sneered the Master before having Draig escorted to his room below the Guild where they stored their goods and held the Village's undesirables until someone from the Capital would receive them.

Draig said nothing else and followed obediently though, if the Master was leaving that gave him a bit of hope for escape but he wouldn't do so hastily. He would need to wait until the Master had already left if he wished to leave this place, though he wouldn't do it in a small way.

It was a chance he had thought would never come and he wanted to at least let the old Bastard know how he really felt before he went.

As Draig laid on his little mat of filthy blankets he waited and schemed on how he could really get back at his tormentors but as he thought there only seemed to be one way to get his point across.

Draig waited for three days until an obvious sign of the Master's absence appeared as a group of three warriors came into the holding area.

"Hey Leech, guess what" laughed the largest of the group but he soon sneered when he didn't receive a response.

"That's fine, let's see how long you keep that attitude after we start tearing you apart. There ain't no Master to keep us from doing what we want now" laughed the Man as he unlocked the door to the cell causing a hidden barrier to appear before it deactivated.

Draig smiled as his iron band gleamed on his ring finger, he slowly lifted himself from the mat of dirty blankets and turned around with a cruel smile.

"Then that means there is no Master to save you" retorted Draig as the sword he taken from the Ruins appeared in his grasp surprising the group before the Vampire did something even more shocking and used on of his skills.

'Silent Slicer' thought Draig not wanting to alert the rest of the Guild to what was going on as his Sword glided through air taking two of the Warriors in one strike but the third seemed to react a bit quicker and managed to avoid the blade as it passed through his friends.

"You dirty mongrel, the Master is going to kill you for this" started the Final member until his eyes widened when a bolt of lightning pierced through him killing him on the spot.

Draig was surprised at how easy it had gone but he didn't have time to waste as he would need to finish his dealings quickly.

With a flash of his Spatial ring he began taking the supplies in the storage placing what would fit in his Bottomless bag inside while larger things were put into the Spatial ring, he grabbed pills and other such precious supplies before ravaging the more common daily items and destroying what he couldn't take.

Soon he slipped up the stairs while casting a small fire spell below causing the base of the building to catch fire, with the size of the flames it should take a bit before it started burning the rest of the building but Draig had one more thing to do in order to truly show his hatred for this hateful and greedy person.

Running into the Master's personal room that doubled as his office Draig ransacked it taking all the Currency he could find stored inside before he accidentally stepped on a loose floor board and found to his surprise the Skill Books he had collected. Smirking to himself Draig began hoarding these things as well until he realized that smoke was entering the office.

'Damn' Cursed Draig mentally as he thought he had more time but it seemed fate would only favor him so much, taking what he could from the other places in the office by tearing the room apart Draig made a hasty escape by jumping through the window and landing in alley quickly leaving the scene.

He didn't wish to be held responsible for his actions as that would definitely give him a fate worse than death upon the Master's return.

'I'm free' thought Draig as he realized what this meant, there was no tracker, no need to return to the Guild any longer, hell he even had money now.

These things made Draig run even faster as he disappeared into the night leaving the captive of these hateful people.
