No one spoke as they walked along the corridor of where looked like a forgotten castle. The man in brown robe walked in front as Klora, Zil, Ofelia and Boyun were walking behind him. The corridor was wide enough to contain a crowd.
There were oil lamps hung on the walls and the fire on them dancing as air blowed.
After some moments of working, they eventually stopped in front of a huge door. It was 25 feet tall and its wideness was magnificent. There were different inscriptions on it, they all were not clear, and they all looked like they were written in a foreign language.
" Wait here" said the man as he pulled the handle of the door and went inside. Ofelia signed as she placed her hands on her waist.
" hump day, not a good day" said Ofelia. The others looked at her and then looked away. Boyun on the other hand was wearing on an angry look, he tried his best not to have any eye contact with anyone.
They could hear nothing, everywhere was slumberous. Klora walked some feet near the wall and leaned on it.
He was so lost in thought already when Zil moved closer to him and placed her hand on his shoulder,
" why did you do that? You also wanted to be in the Gray Dept., why?" said Zil. Klora looked at her but became lost for words. Even he did not know why he did that.
" I don't know, I think it's because of what Ren..." said Klora but before he could his end speech, the door was crack opened and a young guy who seemed to be in his twenties slipped his head through it. He was white in complexion and he looked pale.
"Boyun Ihonda," said the guy as he kept on looking from Klora to Boyun and Boyun to Klora, trying to figure out who it was between them.
" I!" exclaimed Boyun.
" Ok, come in" said the guy.
"But what about u..." but before Ofelia could finish her words, the guy had already retreated his head.
Without any hesitation or looking back, Boyun followed the guy through the door as he closed it from behind. Klora could still sense his anger through the way he closed the door.
"Why is Boyun reacting strangely? Is something wrong?" Klora thought in him.
Left in front of the door was now Klora, Ofelia and Zil. Each of them seemed to be contemplating about their steps from then on. No one talked, they were all leaning on the wall.
All of a sudden, Ofelia looked at Klora as she cleared her throat, of course, she wanted to gain his attention.
Klora raised his head towards her, staring as she spoke.
" What do you think the Brown Dept. is all about?" asked Ofelia. Klora widened her brows, he had not thought about it the whole time. That's a good question and also a scary one, he doesn't know anything about the Knights School at all. In fact, he only saw the men in Gray robe once, they were walking along the street with their longbow held on their right hand and quiver of arrows hung at their back.
"That? No, I don't even know what it means" Klora replied.
" what! You don't? Why don't you use your chance to change back to the Gray Dept.? Why use it on Zil?"
Zil who seemed to be as calm as ever glared at her.
" I think that's something personal" Klora replied her. He became uncomfortable with the question, he was not sure if that was just a question or something else.
Again, the door was cracked open again and the guy from earlier popped out his head again.
"Pristinal Ofelia!" he called out.
"Yes!" replied Ofelia.
" come in" said the guy and his head was gone again.
Ofelia looked at Klora and bit her lip.
" what a waste" she said as she walked through the door.
"don't worry about what she's saying, she just doesn't believe in you" said Klora as he turned to Zil.
"No, she's right. You shouldn't have wasted your chance on a useless person like me. It's really a waste." She buried her face in her hands. Klora moved closer to her but doesn't know if it's ok to touch her, to Pat her shoulder. He retreated and leaned on the wall again.
Distant chatting!!!
Klora straightened his back as he heard voices along the corridor far from where they were. Zil also seemed to had heard it too as she also raised her head.
Distant chatting continues!
The voice grew nearer and nearer as the voice echoed around the corridor.
Few moments later, two figures appeared, they were boys and were white in complexion. They were as the same age as Klora and Zil. They were both of the same height.
"Hi fellas, I'm Spiller!" said the boy on the right side as they got closer to them, he was smiling broadly.
"oh!" Klora exclaimed.
"I'm Klora, nice to meet you"
" and you're?" said Spiller, pointing at Zil who looked stunned.
" I'm Zil" she replied.
" you guys haven't been called yet?" said Spiller.
"what…? Oh sorry… I mean yes." Klora said. He got confused at the moment.
" Damn it, I should have known, the old gits do things on merit." Said Spiller. He turned to the other boy beside him who had been staring at them all the whole time. Spiller noticed the way Klora and Zil were looking at the boy.
"oh sorry, he's my brother, his name is Aaron" said Spiller as he beamed.
"I can see that you guys are newbies. Aaron also is about to be admitted into the Gray Dept., he's really excited about that."
Klora noticed Aaron glare at Spiller but before he could say anything, to Klora's surprise, Spiller moved closer to Klora and threw his arm around his shoulder.
" Don't mind that brat, he never shows it, he's too reserved for my liking but what can I do? I just have to keep on rearing him".
Aaron kept his glare on as Spiller withdrew his arm from around Klora's neck.
" so, which Dept. have you been assigned to by that stupid light coming out from the ugly stick?" Spiller asked.
