Xavier entered the room, fully knowing who was the other person with deep laugh inside. Kyra was sitting on the couch with a plate of cookies in her lap while Tyler was sitting adjacent to Kyra with another plate; half of the cookies left on his lap.
"Hey my bro! How's you doin' and I heard you were making cookies with gorgeous Kyra here, right?" Tyler said looking at Xavier and then at Kyra. But Xavier noticed the sharp look in Tyler's eyes. Tyler was surprised, curious, amazed but also in doubt.
Xavier himself was surprised but he kept a composed expression and sat on the couch, but far from Kyra at the other end. He didn't wanted to make things awkward in front of Tyler and give him any ideas.
"Yeah. And the cookies came out really good too. Taste one?" Kyra offered the plate to Xavier. He took the plate. "Why are you here?" He asked Tyler directly while taking a bite and savoured the taste. Hmm.
Tyler looked up from the plate while slipping another cookie. "Hm? Oh. Actually Kyra invited me." He grinned showing off his dimples.
"You invited yourself." Kyra muttered.
Grin slipped off Tyler's face, "Oh, c'mon gorgeous, don't say you don't like presence. I'm hurt." He clutched his chest in a mock pain. Kyra laughed, "You are not bad."
"See? She likes me." Tyler grinned again like a little kid who just got his favorite candy and pointed his finger at Kyra while staring at Xavier. Kyra laughed again.
"She's laughing at you, you idiot." Xavier threw a couch pillow at Tyler and Tyler got straight hit in his face. "You are such a meanie."
Kyra was laughing at the funny banters exchange between Tyler and Xavier, that went on for another hour. Nearly 10' at night, both Tyler and Xavier decided they need to go back now and let Kyra rest. Tyler went out after saying goodbyes and good nights, while Xavier stayed for a few minutes.
"Thanks for today, I really enjoyed it. And also...thanks for cookies. They're great." Kyra was smiling, but her heart was pumping fast. She felt a bit disappointed but she didn't know why. There, she ignored that.
"It's ok. I enjoyed it too. Thanks, I should go now." Xavier said but didn't move an inch.
"Yeah, you should." Kyra replied, but she too didn't move.
Suddenly, Tyler's loud voice filled the hallway, "Yeah! You should come back bro. Let gorgeous sleep. I need to see her beautiful face tomorrow too."
Kyra chuckled.
"You shouldn't listen to him, " Xavier cleared his throat, "Bye for now. See you around."
"You too." Kyra nodded. Xavier turned and finally went inside his apartment while Kyra closed her door and slumped on it. She never thought she would have anyone in her apartment. And just now, she had two of the most hottest guys over her place. And one of the hottest guy made her heart beat like there's no end.
This feeling was exciting as well as scary. She has never been in relationship before. More like, she never had a chance to even make friends after that incident, let alone having a boyfriend. But the way Xavier made her feel, it was never like before. She might be thinking too much into this, she thought. It's probably nothing and maybe she needs to get to a doctor to get her heart checked. It's not normal.
Yeah, right!
Kyra climbed on her bed, trying to dismiss her thoughts and fell asleep like a baby.
~~~~~
It was not clear, but she thought she saw headlights. Yeah, headlights of a car. It was heading this way and it was close. So close. It was coming with a great speed, but then...suddenly everything vanished. Gone. It was all black. Everything became black. Then again suddenly, she saw a face. A familiar face. She looks so much like her mother. Her sweet mom. What was she doing? She was trying to tell her something. But what? What is she saying? Why can't she see anything clearly? It's so unclear, boack and blurry. Oh no! They are pushing her. No! no, don't. Don't do that! No, no, no, nooooo....
Kyra woke up suddenly, covered in sweat like she just showered. She was panting heavily. What was that? She thought these nightmares stopped 2 years ago. But here they are.
Again.
Why is she having nightmares like that? She always felt there is something that's missing. Something that she might be forgetting. Something really very important. But when she mentioned about these nightmares to her Dad and brothers, they all said it's just a bad dream. Maybe she misses Mom so much, that's why.
Kyra climbed out of the bed and opened her bedroom window, letting the cool air of the night inside. She felt cool sensations on her skin as the air touched her body. She took a deep breath. Kyra knows she misses her Mom very much.
After that accident 5 years ago, when she woke up on a white bed of the hospital, attached to different types of machines and her body bandaged all the way, she got scared. She called for her Mom, but she never came. Her Dad and her brothers came running inside and stopped around her hospital bed. They all had the looks of concern, relief and sadness on their faces. Extreme sadness.
She soon learnt that her Mom was no more. She lost her Mom in the same accident as her. But the most important fact was, she didn't remember anything. Nothing.
When Kaiden asked her where was she when this happened, she said she couldn't remember. She thought she was still in 6th grade. Where in reality, she was in freshman year.
She lost 3 years of her life in that accident. Three vital and important years, she forgot. She forgot that her Mom was dead in the same accident as her. She got an amnesia. And she hated that. Really did.
