Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

Truetown was a large town in North West District. The town was full of lush trees giving its buildings a greenish blend. Its buildings were almost of the same height and they stood in an orderly manner giving the whole town large streets for people and small floating vehicles to navigate. When observed aerially, it was like a square oasis in a desert. It was a bustling town with people moving from one place to another. With small vehicles hoovering over it, it contrasted small cities that had flying cars and spaceships darkening their skies. This gave it a relatively quiet atmosphere.

The train that George bordered came to a halt in a large station in the middle of the town. As soon as he walked out of the station, a floating vehicle with a 'taxi' sticker on top stopped right before him. The vehicle was mostly made of glass and so everything inside was visible from outside. It had three seats: the driver's seat in front and two for passengers at the back. On the driver's seat was a plump man dressed in purple robes. He was holding on the steering wheel happily. The windows of the vehicle were already open and his head was popping out with a wide grin embedded on his big face.

"Esteemed tourist, welcome to Truetown. Where exactly would you like to visit? The tomb of Toma, the Truetown Aquarium? Oh, did you know Truetown Aquarium is the largest in the entire Woodland…" His ayes shimmered as he asked.

"I would like to visit Berts Wish shop near the market." George cut the driver short as he retrieved his phone from his pocket to confirm the name of his destination.

"You want to visit the only surviving wish painter in Truetown… Get in. It will cost you seventy cents."

The driver's eyes lit up upon knowing where George was heading to. He opened the only door to the vehicle and the visitor jumped in. Two minutes later, the driver stopped before a shop. At the entrance, a large wooden sign hanged and on it were imposing 'Berts Wish Shop'. George handed a one-hog note to the driver before he alighted, ignoring the excitement gleaming on the driver's eyes.

"Hello, I would like to see Mr. Gilbert." He walked to the reception counter and smiled at a young woman sitting behind the counter with a laptop.

As he waited for an answer, his eyes darted at the shop. It was large, about fifty-by-fifty meters. The walls were filled with paintings of different sizes and at the center was a lounge which had a dozen of people probably waiting to be served. At a corner was a room with wooden walls. There was a window with a 'Payments' sign on top. Just beside it was a door made of wood similar to the walls. Beyond the window, George could see an extremely beautiful lady sitting before a computer and a money counter.

"Do you have an appointment?" The receptionist asked with a polite smile.

"Yes."

"Your name?"

"George Stevens"

"Just a minute." She pressed a few keys on the laptop before lifting her head, "He is expecting you; you can follow me."

She walked out of the counter and headed to the wooden room. George followed in silence. Inside the wooden room was only the lady who sat at a table with a computer and the money counter. The two waved at her with George wincing as he did. The lady only smiled as he followed the receptionist who was opening a door on one of the walls on which the wooden room was embedded.

The room they entered was almost as large as the shop. Rolls of different types of textiles leaned on the walls and an easel with two stools beside it stood at the centre. On top of a stool was a palette and a container holding a good number of paint brushes. The other was cushioned and on it sat a young man in red robes showing the two his back. Near the easel was a small lantern holding a weird lamp. The lamp emanated a yellow flame that swayed slowly as if hit by small winds.

"There is Mr. Gilbert. Have a beautiful time." The lady pointed before leaving and closing the door behind him.
