I managed to survive the entire duration of the lecture with my heart in a Formula 1 race. During the lecture, I took a peek at Lucy occasionally. I tried not to be a creep but I was stunned by her beauty and couldn't stop myself. Every time I took a peek at her, seeing her long eyelashes and those beautiful ocean blue eyes made it seems like my heart was beating ever so faster. There was one time that I took a peek at her and she noticed. She turned to look at me with the sweetest smile, I've ever seen. Seeing her smiled at me, made me quickly turn my head to avoid her gaze and I forced myself to stare at my books, during that moment it felt like my heart had stop beating for a second.
This was the first time that I wasn't able to focus on a lecture, heck this was the first time that I wasn't able to focus in any class. During the entire lecture, my mind on focus on personal details; How do I smell? Had I worn deodorant today? How did I dress today? Please let it be something stylish. There are fresh clothes, right? Wait, what did I ate for breakfast? It shouldn't make my breath smell, right? In my mind questions after questions, kept running in circles.
I didn't notice that the lecture was over until I saw persons leaving their seats and heading towards the exit.
"Hi, Jason?" On hearing Lucy's voice, I turned my head sub-consciously to look towards her. "Do you mind if we share contact details? I'm new in town and was wondering, if you can help me if I run into any problems." It seems that I was stunned for a while since my mind enter panic mode at the moment. She talking to me? Is there someone else name Jason in Mr. Martin anatomy group? And my mind kept questioning the situation until a nudge from Alvin snap me back to reality.
"Sure, it wouldn't be a problem at all." I try to say that as clam as possible but I guess I stumbled on some words.
Lucy had a very joyous expression when she collected my number and told me her number. While I was entering her number into my phone it seems that she took my picture. Before I say anything about the picture, she said thank you and good bye before heading for the exit. I found it weird that she didn't ask me for any social media profile, like who in this day and age don't have any social media account.
As she was heading for the exit, I notice her style of clothing was very fashionable which emphasizes her figure, a simple white blouse with a denim jacket along with a short skirt.
Noticing that it would be rude to continue to stare at her I turn to see what Alvin was doing. I should've expected this, Alvin was staring intently at Lucy. "Dude, that's rude" I said with displeasure trying to stop him from staring before Lucy notice and start hating us both.
"Dude how can you not be bewitched by that ass and those legs." Alvin said as he looks toward me with a confuse expression but he was just trying to make fun of me.
Ignoring his taunting, I decide to leave the room since we needed to vacate it before another group arrive. "Let head over to the canteen." I suggested since we didn't have anything else to do until after lunch.
The canteen was one of my favorite places to stay when I have a free period, we have the ability to speak freely and not worrying about disturbing others as long kept our demeanor at a decent level. The best part was right across was the Vagonia river with its gorgeous view and the cool breeze blowing in from the river.
"How the heck did you catch that beauty's eyes?" Alvin ask as he sat down with some food for his brunch.
"Maybe I was just the first person than happens to introduce their self to her, she did say she's new in town." I began to speculate since this really does not happen to me.
If this had happened to Alvin then I would've said that he caught her eye. I have always been a wingman for Alvin since our days in high school, most women just pass me straight and head right towards him. Sometime it feels like I was cursed.
"Wait! Wait! What! That supermodel got her eyes on Jason." Every time Clare makes her appearance, noise always to seem to be not be too far behind.
"*Shhhh. why are you always so loud?" I tried to quite Clare down before weird rumors started to make it's rounds.
"He was acting like a real virgin next to her. You should've seen him fidgeting during the lecture and stumbling on his words while he was talking to her." Came a quip from Alvin as Clare took a seat next to him.
"Jason, you're still a virgin" Clare looked at me with a surprise expression. "Want this big-sis to help you out?" Clare said with a teasing tone and expression.
This was going to be annoying since almost everyone I know has already done it, heck even the shyest girl in high school had already done it, well it was with Alvin but that beside the point. Seeing that I was annoyed, Alvin apologized "Sorry bro I didn't think it was true but now I know that you're not hiding in the closet." Was that last part really necessary, wait did he think I was gay?
"Don't be shy Jason, this big-sister won't bite and I promise to be gentle. We can take it nice and slow at the start." Seem like Clare still wants to tease me.
"No thank you, I don't like people who repeated a year in high school." I know that comment was going to hurt Clare but it was the only way I know how to get her off my back. I wondered, what would have happened if I said 'yes'.
The only reason Clare was older than Alvin and I was because she had to retake a year in high school and since we became friends, she always considered herself as our big sister. "Fine! Have it your way! Mister Mage." She shouted in an angry tone and it divulges into a teasing tone.
Yeah it does look like I'm walking the road to become a wizard, maybe I could've even been a Sage.
"On a serious note, you may have a chance with Lucy." Seems that Alvin noticed that Clare was angry and decide to change the topic.
"Does she really seem interested in him?" Clare decide to inquire from Alvin.
"Yeah she was flirting with him, but I'm guessing that the 'mage' here didn't even noticed." I was surprise to hear Alvin said that she was flirting with me since I really did not notice that she was flirting with me. How was she flirting with me exactly?
"She was flirting with me? All we did was exchange contact info." *Slap *Slap. As I said that, Alvin and Clare facepalm themselves.
"Dude, you really didn't notice when she was smiling at you, while playing with her hair and pushing her chest out? And those were the ones that I was able to pick up." Alvin spoken with a sadden expression and tone. Well guess that he was disappointed in me.
"Hey, Mister Mage, a girl doesn't simply give out her number to anyone." Clare added in, wait she makes a lot of sense. I heard a lot of stories about girls giving guys wrong numbers.
"But Clare there's one we still don't know." Hearing Alvin, she looks towards him and asked "And what is that?"
Seeing Alvin and Clare begin to look at me, I know that no matter what I said they're going to make fun of me. "Mister Mage, how do you feel about the fine and eloquent Lady Lucy?" I could see the ahhh expression on Clare face when she heard Alvin mocking expression and now I'm pretty sure she thinking of some kind of joke.
"She really beautiful and she seems like a good person." I said not wanting to throw myself onto the frying pan.
"Your face is red like a tomato all the way to your ears and you unconsciously rub the back of your head. *Hehe. I got to call and tell aunty she going to get a daughter in law." As I heard Clare, I realize that my body language just threw me into the oven and if she really did call my mother then I'm going into the fire directly since she tends to goes off the rail.
Seem it Alvin's turn to make fun of me "Well I guess I'm happy my friend isn't gay, I was thinking for years that he's been hiding in the closet. It now seems that he was just saving himself for Lady Lucy."
"But there still the chance Jason just going to ruin everything for himself." Clare seem to be making some really valid points. I really could ruin it all for myself, there nothing between Lucy and I yet, all I got is her number.
"So, what do you guys suggest I do" These two are the only friends I got in the university. I got no other choice but to ask them for advice.
And there the disappointed face from Alvin "You got her number, ask her for a date."
"Wait isn't it too soon to ask for a date?" It seems Clare and Alvin having this conversation without me.
"I got the perfect idea, she's new in town so why not let Jason give her a tour of the city, the medical department have a day off on tomorrow so he could do it then."
"Yeah, that could work, as expect from the lady's man." After that, these two started to have a mental conversation with all the facial expression and the body language.
As I interrupted them from their mental conversation, they start to give me a ton of advice. They told me signs I that I should look out for, to know that she flirting and interested in me. From the simple eye contact and smile to more unnoticeable mirror actions. Seem that most flirting is done unconsciously using body language. There was some advice they disagreed on and some that they said wasn't important but the one that both agreed on and said was the most important was to be myself. If I just act like I usually act and not doing anything dumb then I should be okay.
In the end I asked for fashion advice since even I know that outsider appearance leave the first impression but it turns out that that wasn't need and I got a good sense of fashion. All I do is wear a jean with a shirt that fits well, plus there's my jacket.
They ended up giving me advice until it was time for our history presentation.
Lucy didn't need to attend out history presentation since she was an exchange student. Lucky her I guess; my parents are immigrants so this isn't even my ancestral history but I'm still forced to learn it. Lucky for me, I already have a vivid knowledge about the continent history from high school and the internet so I didn't really need to focus a lot during the lectures.
After I have given my presentation, my mind was mainly focus on what I need to do for the tour of the city I was about to give Lucy. I kept thinking about where I should take her. Even at the end of the period, I wasn't able to decide on a location.
While walking to the metro with Clare and Alvin, I asked them for their opinion but they both replied with on mind. "That for you to decide, take some time to research where to go on your own tonight." They spoken it together but they each took a piece for themselves.
On returning home I went on my laptop to begin researching interesting places when my discord pinged. I don't have time for them right now, so I change it to 'Do not Disturb' and went on to research iconic places in the city.
Around six in the evening, I finally found a few interesting places. So, I decided to ask Lucy if she would like to go a tour of the city.
Jason: Hey
Lucy: Hello
Wow, she replied quickly.
Jason: How are you? Did you had any trouble getting home?
…. She been typing for 2 minutes now, am I overthinking things?
Lucy: I'm doing well, thank you for your solicitude. The city seems a bit confusing but I was able to make my way home.
Jason: Oh yeah, the city can seem pretty confusing, would you like me to give you tour of the city tomorrow?
Lucy: Sure, that okay with me. I'm free at 13:00 tomorrow.
Jason: Great then I'll see you tomorrow at 1. Bye.
Lucy: Good bye.
Well that went well, now I got some extra time to prepare in the morning. Hopefully it doesn't rain tomorrow. I should run through my plans with Alvin and Clare to make sure that I not doing anything stupid.
