Chapter 10 - Wait, a forest...

Instant Time Mage 10

Just seeing him there talking and taking the lead in the conversation told me his charisma stats were very high. Drawing everyone's attention from reality to him. Creating a world where just about anyone can get along with each other.

And of course, he was my best friend since middle school.

The infamous "Prince Charming"

[Yo. Haven't seen you around since you've been avoiding me. What are you up to?]

He saw me looking at him and happily waved hi. Drawing the group's attention from him to me. Giving me their perplexed looks that wanted to ask who the hell am I making this popular guy talk to me?

Tch, Shut up, creep. Can't you see I'm trying to avoid you?

Why do you go opening your big, happy mouth and making me look like I owe you money and I have to pay you first thing in the morning?

[Morning. I just feel great with a migraine.]

I gave him the whitest lie that was obviously blaming him.

[Is that so? Are you okay?]

Seemingly knowing and not knowing what I'm talking about, he showed me worried look.

Yeah, the world is disgusting and it's making me sick. Can you please help make this world a little bit better for me by not talking to me?

[I think I am.]

I shrug and came closer to him. Not minding the creepy stares they gave as I got closer. Trying to look cool in front of everyone by nonchalantly displaying my secret arts.

[By the way, do you know the Vice President?]

[Vice President? Which Vice President are you talking about?]

What do you mean "Which Vice President?"

Do you know that many Vice Presidents? Because I only met one so far...

[I'm talking about the student council Vice President.]

[Eh? Hrrm, I don't think so. At the very least, I don't think I haven't met the Vice President yet.]

Heh? That's great!

I hope you guys never meet at all!

[Is that so? Okay.]

[Yeah. How about you guys? Have you heard about the Vice President?]

Under the influence of his bad habits, he shifted the conversation from me and him to him and everyone.

Tch, I didn't ask you to ask them, idiot. I was only asking you! Why do you gotta bring others into my romantic relationship?!

The group gave him thoughtful looks for a second and one girl said.

[I think... I heard that the vice president is actually our senior who is 2nd year in class A.]

Then another girl added in.

[I heard that she's a really smart girl who campaigned for presidency last year but gave up and decided to become the vice president.]

And then another girl added in.

[I never met her but I did hear that she was good at playing the piano.]

And then another girl... And back to the second girl... By the way, I just noticed that the group surrounding him are all composed of females. 4 girls actually... Tch.

Damn you, son of a bitch.

Here I am in my 10th day in Highschool and the first thing you do every morning is shove me your collection of women and brag all day how easy it is while I struggle with one girl I just met and she was barely happy with me!

Do you even notice how frustrating it is to know the disparity of our levels even though we're both human?

Look how every boy in here is looking at you. Glaring at you so much they wish you had exploded!

[Hoh... I see. The Vice President is actually one interesting person, huh? Hm? Hey, dude. Are you okay? Your face looks pale!]

It was just then he noticed my sickness. But I already knew before he did and the reason why.

I look at the girls who were looking back at me. Giving me looks with a mixture of worry and curiosity.

It was them who made me sick...

The way they talk about Vice President. Spouting everything they could think of, yet not actually knowing who the person they're talking about.

Maybe what they said wasn't intentional or true, but it felt like lies served boiled in a disgusting soup of poison. Making one think the vice president whom they're talking about is actually a real person manifested from their imagination.

It made me sick just listening to them talk...

[Don't worry. Told you. Migraine. Remember?]

For now, I'm thankful that the conversation had shifted from vice president to me.

I told him not to worry and gave him the same white lie. Poking my head with my finger, telling him where it hurts.

[By the way, are you fine?]

[Hrm? Of course!]

He spoke, pumping his chest with pride.

[I'm healthy as I can be. Unlike a certain guy who keeps staying up late watching Anime.]

Piss off, creep. Get off my case.

[Is that so? Then, I don't have to worry about that spider on your desk, right?]

[Spider?]

His eyes widen in shock as he looks at me pointing at his desk before looking at his desk to see the spider, with all its eight legs, displaying its natural magnificent beauty before everyone's eyes.

[Hik?!]

[KyaAAAHHH?!]

The girls were frightened by its appearance, scurrying off in the speed of light in different directions. While he, with all his handsomeness, turn pale as paper with his eyes turning white. Transforming into a white man...

[Hrk... Hrk... Hrk...]

And he died...

I can see him pitifully, too scared to even run away, his soul escaping his body. My best friend died from extreme shock due to arachnophobia.

Shocked to death by the appearance of a spider that can't even be considered a venomous tarantula from Australia.

I calmly took the spider off his desk, and brought it outside the window.

Now what the hell are you doing, you little insect? Scaring my bro like that... You almost gave him a heart attack, you know?

What? I put you there?

What are you talking about?

I don't remember putting you there. In fact, this the first time we met-- Eh?

You're saying I kidnap you from your house?

Why are you accusing me of a crime I don't remember doing?

Ignoring the tiny protest the spider was making, I open the window to reveal the forest on the other side. And set the little critter free.

Be free my little friend... Wait a minute.

Why is a forest here?

It was at this point that I noticed an anomaly in my surroundings. I took my eyes and glance everywhere. Observing the changes around me. Only to see that a forest had appeared before me instead of the usual track field where sports- related club members would usually jog in sweat early in the morning.

I was shocked. Just shocked as I didn't know how else should I react. And not only me, even the classmates around me were shocked as well.

And it took a long time to process what we were seeing as we didn't even know what to do. And we only stared dumbfounded at each other around us. Seemingly asking what the heck is going on.

KACHA! KACHA! CRACK!

[KyaAAAHHH!!!]

Suddenly startled by the loud cracking sounds issuing, the girls screamed together in panic. We looked at the source of the sound and saw the walls around us were displaying cracks. Lots of cracks.

Cracks were everywhere. From the walls to the ceiling, all the way to the floors, cracks after cracks was shown as if to show us that everything was crumbling down.

[Wu-- Everyone! The room is collapsing! Get out right now!]

Finally, someone who knew what was going on shouted at us what to do.

What he said was true. The room was indeed collapsing. As if a major earthquake had happened before we even notice. And the room was filled with cracks that were growing deeper and deeper.

We didn't protest and did what was told. And soon enough, everyone was outside.

As I and my best friend were the last to exit, we were dumbfounded why our classmates were looking up facing the classroom in shock and so we looked up as well, and the shock on our faces were so similar that our brainwaves must've synced.

What we're looking at, was a portion of the campus building of our school.

No, to be more exact. It was the second and third floor of our classroom above us. There, the classrooms on those floors above our classroom could be seen. And as I could see, the students inside those classrooms were leaning against the windows. Calling us below with a shout as they wave their hands.

[Hey, everyone down there. Are you okay?]
