Laura P. O. V:
"Laura, what in the hell was that?", Charlotte shouted at me as we sat at the crowded dining table.
"What? I got a little distracted."
"A little? You were staring right into Davids' eyes for a solid five minutes.", Cass said with a adamant tone.
"Even he got flushed. His face was blushing red.", Charlie added as she cut my meatballs elegantly, so that I won't die choking on my own food.
In fact, dying feels much better right now.
"Stop it, I know what I did. Don't do a recap on all my embarrassing moments", I covered my face with the black hoodie, hiding from the cruel world.
"No hoodies while eating", she stripped my hoodie from the top of my head, releasing my untamed frizz.
Charlie is more of a parent to me and Cass. She is the one who feels warm and fuzzy always. Whenever I am sad, she would hug me tight, muttering all soft songs.
But Cass is the exact opposite, she was my evil twin. We get into trouble together while Charlie bails us out. If I ever attempt a murder, it's Cass whom I call to bury the body and Charlie would be distracting crowds and my parents.
A perfect threesome made in heaven.
"That little evil spawn, Shirley was the one who started this.", Cass said.
Well. Why wouldn't she?
Every high school cliche.
Evil spawns are there for a reason. They bring down the hell if you broke the rules.
Shirley, the queen bee of the Crestmoon school has the greatest voracity. Perfect body, intellectual mind and a big gluttony heart. She always get everything she want except what I have. No one ever dared to talk against her, YET!
All I got is a good heart and all assorted problems. David is one of the sweet trouble.
Shirley always seduces whoever ask me on a date, whether be a goofball, nerd or a loser. One time, on Junior prom, Goofball Noah asked me for the dance. Being young and dumb, I was so thrilled that I waited in my lacy sea green gown at my porch till midnight, while he ditched me for Shirley. That was the worst wait I ever had.
She always goes an extra mile to make me single.
Since then, she used to fight me over boys and I would finally give up. But now, she is asking for the moon and for Pete sake, I'm not going to give up on him.
In the multitude of cheergirls, jocks, and nerds, my darting eyes searched for David. He was slouching on the table, his hands catching the basketball ricocheting from the ground. His friends glanced over our table, making fun of us as he punched them with a kittenish smirk.
Why is God so unfair? Sighs
"Still drooling over someone who never even look at you?" The squeaking voice made me feel rage rushing to my bones.
And regret.
I ignored her while Cass was killing her with her scornful sight.
"Are you deaf, Laura?"
"I'm sorry, I thought you were talking to yourself, Shir.", I said.
With a disgusting look, she slouched on the edge of the table, with her arms crossed.
"Let me make a reality check. The boy you are checking out will be mine soon", She said with a extreme contempt.
"Really? Had he ever looked at you?"
Wrong question, dude.
She flipped her brown straight ponytail, showing her low neck yellow cheer leader uniform and her blue skirt ended right below her butt, attracting attention to all right parts.
"Are you telling me that no one look at me?", She boasted.
"David isn't like others. David don't like girls like you. He likes me. He is just too shy to show it.", I blurted out.
A great wrong move.
Her face froze in utter shock for a split second and she burst into hysterical laughter, intriguing other's attention.
"Very funny, Laura. You are so hilarious. Should I prove it to you?"
God, Don't make a scene.
"David!" Her high pitched voice startled my heart out of my mouth, catching everyone's attention.
Shit.
"Do you like her or me, honey?", She asked boldly.
"Are you kidding? Stop making a scene", I clutched her wrist as she wriggled out of my grip.
Curiosity surfaced his face, giving it an actual thought. Unlike me, fidgeting nervously, he maintained a cool composure like it wasn't a big deal.
But.
The expected reaction was far more different. Instead of ignoring her like he always do, his lips played a sexy smirk, inviting more trouble.
No.
"David, I'm sorry. I didn't say-", I said, begging him not to respond.
"Well, this is tough competition", he got up, munching on his fries.
"Tough? This is a easy question. You know she doesn't even have a chance. You and I, we belong toget-", said Shirley.
"Together?",he scoffed, "Since when were we a thing? Stop joking!"
"Alright, game over.", I tried not to burst the bubbles, my heart running a marathon up to my mouth. The cried scattered away a little.
"It's not over till I say"
She grabbed my hand hard and pushed me towards the centre of the hall.
"What the fuck are you doing?", I stood in burning frenzy, as she blindfolded me and herself.
"What a sick game is this? Stop it, right now.", David's stubborn voice echoed the hall.
"If you want this over. Choose."
"Prove it that she is not supposed to have a chance with you", she shouted as more crowd gathered around us, "Shirley,Shirley", the chorus increased in intensity.
Soon, silence clouded me as I stood there in darkness, having no clue.
According to my exact calculation, either I'm going to lose him or I'm going to live in hell.
Both is designed to hurt me.
The footsteps of his shoes resounded inside the uncomfortably silent hall. It became thinner and was getting away from me.
Towards her.
Tears rimmed my eyes as I found out that my five year love is choosing someone in front of me.
Of course he is way out of my league. But still every part ached to be in his embrace.
A small whimper got out, the sound of my broken heart. No breath enters my lungs and I gasped for air.
Suddenly, a soft hand cupped my face, pressing my lips against his. The touch made my knees go weak as his hand sled down my hips to get hold of me. My hands brushed through his soft hair, creating a loud moan. A thunder of electrical wave electrocuted, as the tension between us increased. Our lips nuzzled softly, creating different fireworks burst inside my heart. And down there.
One perfect kiss.
Slowly he released my lips from his capture as I removed the blind fold, my eyes adjusting to the brightness.
"Sorry, but she is mine."
Oh David!
I removed the blindfold, my eyes squinted as it adjusted to the bright world. And finally it fell on David, who was standing near Charlie, both with a resentful expression. Shirley stood away from David, looking at me with loathsome grudge.
Wait!
Rewind.
I looked up to see him, holding me tight, those golden freckles in those shining hazel eyes. The one which never fail to captivate me.
In the most weirdest way.
"Christian?"
"I missed you too, sweetheart."
