Chapter 4 - Lie

Laura's P. O. V:

Have you ever felt something deep down when you read a novel? Especially a horror thriller.

That undenying urge about something catastrophic.

I stood blank, shock still thrilling through my body, partly due to the first touch of lips and partly due to the fact that he was the one to kiss.

"Why are you so surprised, honey?", He asked as he smoothed his black hair to its position, his eyes shone bright with mischief. His black leather jacket contrasted his white shirt, outlining his hefty body.

"I told I would come for you. I am a person of words", he smirked.

How I wish to broke that beautiful little twist of lips.

I looked around at the crowd gathered. Gasps and flashes of photos filled the cafeteria. Everyone was gossiping and calling names on me, while some were equally bewitched by his charm. Embarrassment washed over like poison on my veins, killing me slowly.

Sure this is going to haunt forever.

My eyes hungrily searched for familiar faces to access the situation.

Shirley was about to burst with green jealousy, her face can't hide it and by now she would be planning to conquer him too.

Jealous?That's probably a good sign.

Cass and Charlie had the funniest expression of shock, mouth opened agape and bulging eyes for a hell five minutes.

A definite bad sign. What am I going to tell them?

And finally,

David, thank God, his dysphoric eyes were locked with mine, scrutinizing this unexpected out-of-the-box option. He nodded his unruffled face, saying he had my back. But his stamping feet tells me otherwise.

"We have to talk.", Christian said with a domineering voice.

"I don't think so. There is nothing to talk", I said with a stubborn voice.

"Really?",as he stretched himself, showing his abs as the shirt goes up along with his upstretched arms.

"Bite me.", With that said, he took me over and threw me on his shoulders. His hand held my butt tighter as I wriggled out of his catch.

Pompous ass.

"Let me down, you ass.", I shouted, as he walked outside the corridor, carrying me like a sack.

Tugging my hair out, I saw David.

He was standing.

Just standing. Like he never saw this coming.

Shit.

Soon, we hit the empty road in his car. Autumn had decorated the rusty road with orange dead leaves, rustling along with the warm wind. A slow music was playing in the cold solitude. The afternoon was unusually cloudy, white fluffs rumbling above with a ghoulish darkness.

"Crestmoon is a lonely city to hide, isn't it?", He said as he looked through the black sunglass.

Why is he asking that? Had he committed a murder? Or worse is he going to murder me?

I stared silently, as he looked back to the road. The columns of dried trees made an arch of empty branches over the road. I looked around his car, for a clue. His relaxed hands were playing a unknown tapdance to the music as he steered his way through the abandoned town. A half bottle of rum, few newspaper and a rotting chicken bone was seen at the holder.

"And you look totally different.", He commented again.

I know, I'm different.

Club rules.

No attention attractive.

So all I ever wear was baggy clothes, untamed hair and a dull face. Or let's just say I'm being the comfortable me.

I still stared at him, this time doubts and anger bubbling on my brain.

"If you are gonna stay silent, I'm gonna leave you stranded in these mountains till someone finds you and sell you to a stripper."

He kissed me.

He kidnapped me to God knows where.

Technically, I could be riding with a murderous psychopath, who is hot, by the way.

"Are you going to kill me?", Was the question I'm supposed to ask.

But.

"What the hell? Don't fuck with me. I.. I know the.. sheriff of the town and they will find me sooner.. or later.", A brave lie went out from my mouth.

He chuckled a bit as I stared at him.

"You don't know why I brought you, do you?", He asked.

"Correction, kidnapped me"

"Where is the mob?", Authority dominated his voice.

"What mob? I don't know any mob. Just freaking pull over.", I said blankly .

He raised his eyebrow in playful doubt.

"Really, you are going to play the innocent card, right now", he laughed in utter doubt.

I stared blankly then reality hit me.

Mob? The mob? No one knows about the mob. Except us.

Oh my God. He is such a genius.

"I don't know what are you-"

The sudden brake threw me towards the front bummer, my head banged hard. My groggy brain took a minute to get steady, blurring my vision. The burnt tyres streaked a bold line on the road.

Ouch.

"What the fuc-?"

"I thought you said pull over", Christian took the precaution of his reckless driving by wearing seatbelt. Irritated, he took out his iPhone from his pocket, searching the illuminated screen. Curiously, I stole a peek at his phone, and cold sweat broke as I saw him, recapping our dance from Youtube.

Shit.

"Then who are they?", He pushed his phone into my hands.

It's our promo dance we played at the crowded Rockfeller Park, attracting millions of likes and comments. Under theĀ  The only way we could hide is under our masks. No one can tell us that it was us.

"Ring a bell?", He arched his eyebrows.

"I have no idea who they are", A bold lie and a straight face would sell it.

"Seriously? Don't play me", he scoffed.

"I'm not in the club. They rejected me long time before promo. We got into a club fight which came out as a big deal.", My voice broke as I acted out a pure lie, expressing the hurt.

"What?", His shocked face can't believe it. He just stared at me, his mind searching for an exact question to ask.

Please don't ask anything and just freaking believe it.

"But this is not possible.", His eyes were fixed on a inanimate object, deeply wandering.

"But that's what happened!"

"Now, could you please leave me at school?"

He looked at me.

"Please.", I blinked my tired eyes on my ghastly sad face.

Dumbass.

But a part of me felt sorry for lying to him.

***

"Look at what you have done", David shouted as I stood inside the empty dancing hall.

It's already six in the evening and everyone had been frying my phone for the past six hours, asking about him.. Still, I ran to the first person I cared about.

Now he is red angry.

"You created a spark in him and now he is on fire. He will get his revenge by getting us arrested.", David shouted in anger as I ran silently beside him.

"David, I-"

"You know how close we are to the winning? It's all your fault, Laura", this stingy tone caused my heart to break into pieces.

"David, I have it under control. I promise. He won't do-"

"Listen, Laura.", He looked into my eyes, burning with rage.

And everything that follows a listen is never a good thing.

"He is your mess." He walked away.

"If you are a threat, you will be disqualified too."

He said as he slammed the door hard.
